Interesting higher grade drilling with 7.8x57 rifle caliber on the bottom of two 16 bore barrels. Top rib is matted with flip up rear sight. Scalloped action boxlock with side clips is near full coverage engraved with large game and floral pattern with punch dot background. Bottom of action is engraved "Original Kerner U. Sohn Anson and Deeley Drilling in panel. Splinter forend is checkered in point pattern with Deeley release. Made with side safety. Rifle is cocked with top tang cocker. Horn trigger guard. Full pistol grip buttstock is checkered in point pattern with scalloped grip cap and has cheek piece on left side with ammo trap at toe and terminates with a checkered horn buttplate. CONDITION: Very good. Barrels retain about 65-75% blued finish. Action finished in french grey with some minor staining. Stocks retain most of an older restored finish with subsequent handling marks and checkering has thinned a bit. Shotgun tubes with repaired bulges approximately 6" from muzzle, bores are otherwise good with beginning frosting. Right stock cheek is separating and there are grain separations visible elsewhere in stocks. Stock head has a later screw on left side. A licensed version of the Czechoslovakian ZB vz. 26, the Bren served the British military forces from the 1930's all the way until the 1990's, seeing use in as late as the Falklands War. This semi-automatic Bren was manufactured by Inglis in 1943 and converted to semi-automatic by Wise Lite Arms. The left side of the receiver reads "WISE LITE ARMS BOYD, TX/ MOD. BREN MKI/ CAL. .303 SEMI AUTO/ SN. WLA28-6T7542". The right side of the receiver is marked "BREN MK I" and "INGLIS/ 1943". Bren is complete with a metal crate filled with twelve magazines that are coated in cosmoline. CONDITION: Metal components retain vast majority of reapplied finish, showing minor cosmetic wear and small areas of rust of the bipod. Bore is dark, but retains strong rifling throughout. In the 1990's many were brought back to the United States and sold as parts kits, this being a key example. This semi-automatic sideplate was manufactured by Allied Armament and reads " NO. 849 U.S. INSP. AS/ BROWNING MACHINE GUN/ U.S. CAL. 30 M1919A4/ MAN'FD BY SAGINAW STEERING GEAR DIV./ GENERAL MOTORS CORPORATION". Many components including the top cover, booster, receiver, etc. retain their Israeli markings, including serial numbers, "7.62" conversion marking, and the Hebrew letter "H". The receiver and bolt are stamped "7.62" signifying that this 1919A4 was converted to 7.62x51mm NATO while under Israeli ownership. Modified components include the booster, rear sight, belt holding pawl and bracket, top cover, bolt, and barrel. Complete with a 1919A4 M2 tripod and traverse and elevation mechanism. Stock is excellent with light handling marks. Bore is good with sharp rifling. Muzzle gauges at 1.5, throat at 2. Sling is very good, as is the buttstock cleaning kit. This gun falls into the very early part of the first serial number block assigned to Underwood. All proper Underwood parts. "12-42" dated barrel. Flip rear sight. Type 1 barrel band. Proper high wood, I cut Rock-Ola made stock, which is correct for an Underwood carbine of this manufacturing period as Rock-Ola supplied them with stocks from October of 1942 until April of 1943. "RMC" marked in sling cutout. P proof on bottom of grip. Type 1 Underwood trigger housing. Type 1 dog leg hammer. Flat bolt. Type 2 slide. Checkered push button safety. M1 magazine catch. Original sling and oiler. Import marked on bottom of barrel. Missing the magazine. CONDITION: Gun has a pleasing light patina, showing wear with some finish. Markings are clear. Bore has strong rifling. Wood has dings and handling marks, showing wear with good markings. Fine mechanical function. Standard configuration Rock-Ola M1 carbine. Made in the first run of guns produced by Rock-Ola, dating this gun to early 1943 by serial number. "2-43" dated Rock-Ola marked barrel. "M-R" marked type 1 band, however due to the finish wear on the barrel, it would appear this gun was equipped with a later bayonet lug band which had been changed back. Flat bolt. "RR" proper marked flip rear sight, certainly has been changed at some point. Early style receiver with detachable recoil spring guide tube. National Postal Meter type 2 trigger housing. IBM type 3 slide. M2 style magazine catch. Lever style safety. "RMC" marked I cut high wood stock and hand guard. "RMC" and ordnance wheel on right side of stock appear restamped. The "RMC" marking in sling swivel well is original. Front sight is missing the pin and is sitting a bit too far forward. Import marked on bottom of barrel. Comes with late production sling, oiler and magazine. CONDITION: Very good, as assembled. Retains 85% finish. Markings are clear. Bore is very good with strong rifling.
