(C) Winchester Model 1895 National Guard of Colorado Musket (1899).

Lot # 286 (Sale Order: 283 of 545)

Features round musket length barrel, blue finish, steel blade military pattern front sight, ladder elevation adjustable rear sight and two piece American walnut finger grooved stocks with matching top hand guard. "KSM" military inspectors markings found on hammer, lever and bolt assemblies. Marked on right side"NATIONAL GUARD OF COLORADO". Little is known of this state guard contract other than the turbulent times of the period in Colorado. Several examples of these contract muskets have been observed in the past 15 years and most have been in extremely hard used condition. This example chambered for the .30 Gov't cartridge (.30-40 Krag) is good overall with traces of blue finish in very protected areas, balance worn smooth and a mottled bare steel finish. Left side of receiver has been drilled and tapped for a side sight at a much earlier time. American walnut stocks have a more contemporary varnish finish with evidence of a property cartouche or other stamping on right side of butt. Receiver bridge is marked "2 B 38" and is believed to be a regimental marking. Walnut hand guard has a period and appropriate dovetailed splice to remedy a crack that has again reopened. This is a very uncommon Winchester lever action with a unique Western American provenance.Barrel Length: 28"Caliber/Bore: .30-06 GovFFL Status: Curio & RelicManufacturer: WinchesterModel: 1895Paperwork: YesSerial Number: 20187

(A) Engraved & Plated Winchester Model 1892 Lever-Action Rifle (1920).

Lot # 300 (Sale Order: 296 of 545)

Serial number applied on September 18th, 1920. The records for Winchester from this era are lost with the only available information on serial number date. Rifle features full octagon barrel, full magazine, King sporting rear sight, walnut stocks and composite buttplate. Barrel breach has some scroll and punch dot engraving. Nose cap and frame are gold plated with scroll engraving on nose cap while frame is engraved with same type of scroll and punch dot background on right side, top of frame and tang with a little bit of light scroll engraving on the lever. Left side of frame is engraved in the same scroll with a panel scene of antlered game. Barrel and tube retain approximately 95% reapplied rust bluing with some age freckling. There is some bubbling of the gold finish forward part of the frame on all sides. The scroll engraving is very similar to that of George Ulrich or Stokes style. The antlered game panel scene is also similar to Gough and Stokes but we could find no exact example of this image; closest example we could find is on page 340 in the book "Winchester Engraving' by R.L. Wilson. Without an exact example and factory letter, it is impossible to tell whether this gun is factory engraved or not. Frame retains approximately 85% of the gold plating. Wood has been refinished and is in excellent condition. Fine bore and action. Lovely Winchester regardless as the engraving is master quality.Barrel Length: 24"Caliber/Bore: .32-20FFL Status: AntiqueManufacturer: WinchesterModel: 1892Paperwork: No Serial Number: 905673
Serial number applied on September 18th, 1920. The records for Winchester from this era are lost with the only available information on serial number date. Rifle featur...morees full octagon barrel, full magazine, King sporting rear sight, walnut stocks and composite buttplate.

(C) U.S. Springfield M1D Semi-Automatic Sniper Rifle (1944).

Lot # 303 (Sale Order: 299 of 545)

Springfield April 1952 dated M1-D barrel. Mounted with M84 scope. Rifle appears to be all Springfield manufacture parts with the October 1952 dated leather cheek rest. The M1-D Rifles where assembled from existing rifles and out into service extensively during the Korean War as well as the early stages of the Vietnam conflict. These have been prized amongst collectors for many years and many are found with commercially manufactured parts. This rifle is the exception and is probably one of the few rifles sold by the United States Government through the Civilian Marksmanship Program. These rifles had been in storage for many years and where made available to shooters and collectors through a lottery type sale. This rifle is all original and authentic complete with the M2 Flash hider manufactured by Hart MFG. Excellent as arsenal re-issued. The bore is bright and shiny with sharp rifling. The three piece walnut stocks have been through rebuild and are very fine with no cracks or distress. No inspectors cartouche is evident only the "P" proof on pistol grip, this is correct for the arsenal rebuild rifles sold through the CMP. The metal finishes retain over 97% of the parkerized military finish. Scope is bright and clear with the post and cross reticle. Rubber eye cup is still supple. Oiler and chamber brush are in trap in butt. A very fine example of a United States sniper rifle complete with proper cotton M1 sling.Accessories: Scope, Sling & Leather Cheek PieceBarrel Length: 24"Caliber/Bore: .30-06FFL Status: Curio & RelicManufacturer: U.S. SpringfieldModel: M1DPaperwork: YesSerial Number: 2657030
