(A) Fine Condition Colt Model 1861 Navy Percussion Revolver.

Lot # 512 (Sale Order: 501 of 545)

Manufactured 1863. With a mere 38,800 manufactured, compared to the over 200,000 of the 1851 and 1860, making this the scarcest of the series. It was beautifully designed, featuring the swept streamlined round barrel of the 1860 army, combined with the size of the 1851 Navy, making it the best of both worlds. The six shot cylinder features the same Naval scene as engraved on the Model 1851. This example is strong and nearly 100% complete with traces of original blue. Barrel retains approximately 30% of the original high polish blue with razor sharp legends, blending with a homogenous soft aged patina. Lever has traces of color while the frame, both right and left, retain 40-50% color, some brilliant. The factory varnished one piece walnut grips are excellent to near mint, perfectly fitted with the initials "R.E.S." hand carved into bottom of left panel. The blue on the bottom of the barrel under lever is brilliant. You will find matching numbers on the frame, barrel, cylinder, wedge, trigger guard and backstrap. Generous nickel plating on trigger guard. Indexes and locks up correctly and has a strong, clean near mint bore. The number "2" can be found stamped above or below serial number on frame, barrel, trigger guard and backstrap, which probably indicates this was sent as a pair. It is obvious this rare revolver saw very little use and is one of the better examples available.Barrel Length: 7 - 1/2"Caliber/Bore: .36 PercussionFFL Status: AntiqueManufacturer: ColtModel: 1861 NavyPaperwork : No Serial Number: 11121

(A) Cased & Cattle Brand Engraved Colt Single Action Army Revolver (1884).

Lot # 522 (Sale Order: 510 of 545)

Cole Agee, the famed Texas engraver, is known worldwide for his cattle brand engraved Colts. In 1953, the cost to engrave a cattle brand Colt was $253 and you provided the gun. Mr. Agee operated his business from Fort Worth, Texas. He was born in 1901 in Runge, Texas and was quite established by 1934 as a master engraver. In the 1950's Cole Agee became famous for his engraved cattle brand guns for TV and motion picture Western stars such as Bill Elliot and John Wayne. His work load was so heavy that he required the assistance of Weldon Bledsoe. David Harris, a master engraver from Granbury, Texas, was good friends with Bledsoe and Bledsoe taught Harris to do the cattle brand engraving as well. Harris became so good that without identification, it is difficult to identify an engraving from Harris or Agee. Agee died in 1955. (A) Early Colt Single Action Army Revolver.

Lot # 525 (Sale Order: 512 of 545)

Frame was manufactured 1876 and shipped to B. Kittredge & Co., Cincinnati, Ohio. Original sold with 7-1/2" barrel and walnut stocks. There are notes in the records that this revolver was returned by the U.S. Government for refurbishing, barrel shortened to 5-1/2" and subsequent reshipment. Shipped in November 26th, 1901 to Manila. Right grip panel has inspector stamp "RAC" for Renaldo Carr, left side grip panel has a cartouche that is visible but not readable. Refurbished and shortened barrel models are referred to as Artillery Models. It is interesting to note that this gun was sent with non-"US" marked frame and two line patent address, and ended up returned under the military contract from 1901. Cylinder is 1916 and stamp "P.H.K.". Barrel is stamped 6167 "P". Frame is 30537. Trigger guard is 7962 "A". Backstrap is 34821. Back of cylinder is stamped "BPK". It is obvious this revolver went through Kittredge and onto the U.S. Military where it was altered with the 1901 changes. Exhibits the later style ejector rod head, six shot, single action, blue and case colored finish with very good to excellent one piece walnut grips that are slightly shy to metal. No U.S. stamps on frame. Frame retains approximately 50% original case colors. Front sight has been shortened. Barrel retains approximately 75% of the arsenal blue finish. Cylinder retains approximately 70%. Generous amounts of original blue on screws. Locks up tight and has a strong, clean bore. Scarce to find civilian shipped Army revolver transitioned into military revolver during the campaign in the Philippines.Barrel Length: 5 - 1/2"Caliber/Bore: .45 ColtFFL Status: AntiqueManufacturer: ColtModel: Single Action ArmyPaperwork : YesSerial Number: 30537

(A) Rare U.S. Model 1813 Navy Flintlock Pistol by Simeon North.

Lot # 536 (Sale Order: 523 of 545)

Only 1,626 of this model were made by Simeon North between 1813 and 1815, only 1,000 were delivered to the Navy. This makes it rarer than the Model 1799 North & Cheney martial pistol, as less were made. The original government contract called for 20,000 of these but due to harsh recoil and large size, this was revised. This contract is also important because it was the first time that a gun maker offered a product with interchangeable parts. Round smoothbore steel barrel stamped "P/US" on left side of breech and "HHP" on right side, above touch hole. Flat beveled lockplate with rounded tail, brass pan, and reinforced cock, center of lockplate stamped "S. NORTH/U./eagle/S./MIDDLN. CON." Standard Model 1813 steel furniture, including a steel belt hook. Walnut half-stock with Wickham band and wooden ramrod, left side stamped behind belt hook with inspectors mark "ET" for inspector Edward Trenchard. Very good condition, steel components have been lightly cleaned and retain grey patina with some minor freckling. Original flintlock configuration. Stock very good, a few scattered marks and a small sliver replaced above back of lock tang. This is a fine example of a very scarce and early American martial pistol.Barrel Length: 9"Caliber/Bore: .69 SmoothboreFFL Status: AntiqueManufacturer: Simeon NorthModel: 1813 NavyPaperwork : No Serial Number: NSN
