Lot # 305 (Sale Order: 301 of 545)      

Lightweight barrel is fitted with quarter rib holding two folding leaf rear sight and with dovetails for scope mounting. A stippled front ramp with knurled sight protector has silver bead. Top of barrel is engraved "Paul Jaeger - Jenkintown, PA". Ruger No. 1 action with tang safety has coin finished side panels added. Action, breech end of barrel, and quarter rib are engraved with 80% coverage well cut varying sized scroll. Side panels have this small scroll surrounding central device of large foliate scroll holding basket of roses. This well done work appears to be unsigned. Very fine black streaked and nicely fiddle figured European walnut skeleton steel capped pistol grip buttstock measures 13-1/2" over skeleton steel buttplate. Stock is classically styled with shadow line swept right hand cheekpiece, shadow line checkered side panels, and borderless point pattern checkering at grip. Matching one piece forend with schnabeled tip extends to muzzle. Leupold Vari - X II 2 X 7 scope with duplex reticle is in QD rings engraved to match barrel and action. A fine creation by these two talented gunsmiths, the metal work was by Smithson, with stock by Billeb. Featherweight barrel is engraved with both makers names on top and caliber at left rear. Special lightweight G33/40 98 action has been nicely polished and shaped. Bolt has traditional pear shaped knob added and handle has been altered for low scope use. Bolt shroud is fitted with Model 70 type safety. Custom bottom metal with straddle hinged floorplate has button release in trigger guard bow. A commercial trigger has been fitted. Very nicely veined and lightly figured European walnut steel capped pistol grip buttstock measures 13-3/4" over Neidner steel buttplate. Stock is traditionally styled with small shadow line right hand cheekpiece, ebony forend tip with widow's peak, sling eyes, and very well cut point pattern checkering around grip and forend. Manufactured 1983 through 1985. The Super Grade XTR Express chambered for .30-06 over 12 gauge with "Winchoke". Coin finish receiver with arabesque scroll and vine engraving on sides and bottom of receiver. Blue finish barrels with 1-4X Redfield variable scope in quick detachable mounts. Barrels are appointed with sporting blade front sight with folding Lyman pattern rear sight. Semi-satin varnish finish on the two piece American walnut stocks with fine checkering at wrist and forearm. 12 gauge chamber measures 3". Threaded for interchangeable Winchoke tubes but none are present. Sling swivel eyes on barrel and butt stock. These combination guns where a very desirable item when introduced but quickly discontinued for unknown reasons. Condition, Very fine with most all finish remaining. Very slight traces of actual use is evident with typical storage marks from being in a gun safe or cabinet. Bores are perfect as is to be expected. Ejectors function in time with out issue. All numbers on the rifle appear to be matching, and the stock is matching numbered as well. Stock also have the "WaA214" mark on the right side. Both trigger guard screws are incorrect replacements (they are Phillips rather than slotted heads). Original Durafol Bakelite handguard. Front sight hood is for the K98k Model. Bore is fine with sharp rifling. Good mechanical function. Original "aye" "G43" marked magazine is included. This gun is equipped with an original ZF4 "dow" scope; optics are dusty and a little hazy. Satin finished deluxe highly figured American walnut stocks with fine "H" pattern checkered forearm and pistol grip. Ebony forend cap with case colored pistol grip cap and fine checkered blue steel butt plate. Case colored lever and mounted with sling swivels. Rich deep blued finished barrel and receiver. One of the best and most stream-lined lever action rifles ever manufactured and none are as pretty as these early Perch Belly high polish examples. Features full round barrel, Rocky Mountain front sight, blued finish, deluxe checkered walnut forend with Schnabel, takedown, brass cartridge counter, Lyman tang sight, deluxe wood pistol grip checkered wrap around stock, checkered side panels, case colored lever and a Savage black composite buttplate. The stock has extra grade wood, finely grained, straight comb, piano finish deluxe checkering on both side panels and wrap around pistol grips. Has the Perch Belly profile lower stock. Frame has the high polish royal blue finish with some freckling and thinning at base, but bright as new on top and sides. Barrel retains 90% original factory blue with a few storage dings. Brilliant case colors on both sides of hammer. Stocks are near mint. Strong rifled bore and like new action. From the G.
