(C) SCARCE INTERWAR HAENEL-LORENZ WEHRMANNBUCHSE 8.15X46MMR BOLT ACTION TARGET RIFLE.

Lot # 3027 (Sale Order: 26 of 341)

With Treaty of Versailles limitations in place on standard 8x57mm arms, commercial production of military style target rifles was forced to switch to the 8.15x46mmR cartridge. This example appears to have been constructed with some World War I Mauser parts by Haenel, the receiver ring marked "ORIGINAL / HAENEL-LORENZ" over the "HAENEL" arrow trademark, with commercial crown over "B" and "U" proofs. Although constructed with a standard open bottom 98 Mauser action, this example is a single shot with no internal magazine fitted. Finished in standard commercial blue, the bolt left in the white. Fitted with a tall blade front sight and Haenel 300 meter micrometer tangent rear sight for military style target competitions. Stock is military style constructed with commercial grade straight grain walnut. A concealed and glued bringback duffle cut present under the central band. Standard mounts including bayonet lug. CONDITION: Very Good. Original commercial finish shows only light wear, especially at the muzzle. Stocks have impressions throughout, a concentrated area of impressions also present on the right side of the wrist. Buttplate has some cleaned oxidations pitting. Very fine, bright bore with crisp rifling. Fine mechanics. Barrel Length: 29" Caliber/Bore: 8.15x46mmR FFL Status: Curio & Relic Manufacturer: Haenel Model: Haenel-Lorenz Wehrmannbuchse Serial Number: 3149

Lot # 3028 (Sale Order: 27 of 341)

Among other manufacturers of target rifles in the interwar period, production was forced to switch from 8mm Mauser to 8.15x46mmR chambering to meet Treaty of Versailles regulations. This military style Wehrmannsgewehr target rifle was built by Anschutz as signed "UDO ANSCHUTZ ZELLA - M.I." on the barrel. Rifle is finished in commercial blue throughout. Fitted with a drift adjustable blade front sight and WWI style rollercoaster rear. The walnut military stock is of nice figure and is marked with a small Argentine liberty cap stamp, very likely indicating replacement. Rifle is complete with a reproduction leather sling. Fine mechanics. Barrel Length: 29" Caliber/Bore: 8.15x46mmR FFL Status: Curio & Relic Manufacturer: Anschutz Model: Wehrmannsgewehr Serial Number: NSN
