Per included factory research the serial number was applied to this rifle July 19, 1904, and it shipped out August 23 of the same year. Rifle sports a blued 26" round barrel chambered in .38-55 with combination front sight and semi buckhorn rear. An additional folding rear aperture sight is mounted to the tang. Polished blue sold frame with case hardened lever and hammer. Stocks are plain walnut mounted with a blued nose cap and brass Swiss butt plate. Factory records do not list the sights or Swiss butt plate, but otherwise confirm configuration. CONDITION: Very good for its age. Barrel and magazine tube retain over 90% of their factory blue, some mild thinning and spotting present. The majority of the original polished blue is retained on the receiver with areas thinning to brown patina and an area of cleaned oxidation to the right of the bolt. Sides of lever display strong case colors, the balance faded to brown patina. Hammer likewise retains significant portions of muted case color. Stocks are fine with the usual marks and some loss to the original finish. Sharp, bright bore. Fine mechanics. Manufactured circa 1904. Rifle features an 18" polished blue round barrel marked at the breech "44-40". German silver Rocky Mountain front sight and desirable platinum lined 3-leaf express rear sight. Case hardened receiver. Smooth varnished rifle forend with blued nose cap. Matching walnut stock with blued carbine butt plate. CONDITION: Very good overall. Barrel retains nearly all of its factory blue with some scattered marks and a ghost from an elevation adjustable rear sight. Included factory research indicates that the factory record for this rifle is blank. Receiver displays the majority of its brilliant case colors with some areas of fading and carry wear. Stocks are likewise very good with some scattered impressions and a pair of unfilled sling stud holes. Butt plate retains most of its factory blue as well. Very fine and bright bore. Crisp mechanics. With standard 20" carbine available, very few of these special order short rifles were built. This would make a great addition to any Marlin collection. Originally manufactured by Winchester and embellished by A&A engraving for America Remembers as number 125 of 300 Leatherneck Sportsman Tributes. Carbine is fit with a polished blue 20" round barrel chambered in .30-30 with sporting sights and gold plated trim. The left side of the gold plated receiver features a central engraved standing buck in a wooded mountain landscape with dot border and scroll, over a banner reading "LEATHERNECK SPORTSMAN TRIBUTE". The right displays the iconic Marine Corps Globe and Anchor, a Marine in profile, and scroll embellishment with dot borders. Bolt and hammer are engine turned. The walnut carbine forend is gloss finished and laser engraved "SEMPER/FIDELIS" on each side. Buttstock is also laser engraved with further Marine motifs, scroll, and the opening lyrics to the Marine Corps hymn. Standard checkered black Winchester shotgun butt plate. CONDITION: Excellent, with only a few mild handling marks. Bore is excellent and appears unfired since leaving the factory. Per included factory research the serial number was applied to this rifle August 6, 1906 and it was shipped from the Winchester warehouse on August 25 of the same year. Rifle sports a blued octagonal barrel chambered in .22 WRF with blade front sight and v-notch rear. Blued takedown receiver mounted with a folding aperture tang sight. Standard corrugated walnut slide. Gloss finished figured walnut stock with checkered pistol grip, hard rubber WRACO grip cap, and blued crescent butt plate. Stock stamped "1557" under the butt plate, the matching "1557 XX" assembly number and wood grade present on the lower tang. Factory research confirms configuration, sights unlisted. CONDITION: Very good overall. Barrel and magazine retain the vast majority of their factory blue with some high edge wear. Receiver blue has largely faded to a brown patina. Stocks are very good with some mild nicks and impression, as well as a few spots of varnish loss and minor splits between the lower tang and grip cap. Good, strong bore. Fine mechanics. Rampant Colt logo on the left side of the receiver. Checkered panel foregrip and a plain rear stock with a rifle butt plate. Full length tube magazine.
