Lakota Sioux Fully Beaded & Quillworked Pipe Bag

The lot features a fully beaded Indian tanned hide long pipe bag adorned with beadwork and quillwork like fringe from the Lakota Sioux Native American Indians. The bag sh...moreows an Indian tanned hide construction which shows a long traditional pipe bag tobacco bag design which is artfully adorned with patriotic Reservation period geometric and effigy beadwork. The beadwork is all glass trade seed beads showing a chalk white background with geometric patterns in greasy green, greasy yellow, cobalt, red and medium green along with patriotic US flags in red, cobalt (blue) and chalk white. The beadwork is shown fully covering both sides of the main body with the tapering neck being adorned at the base with a unique diamond like pattern and in a strip down each side which connects the base beadwork with the fully fancy beaded top edge of the bag. The bag also shows wide parfleche lined fringe below the beadwork which is wrapped in dyed and waxed thread made to imitate porcupine quillwork showing a red, blue and yellow stepped diamond pattern. At the base of the quillwork imitation shows Indian tanned thin hand cut long fringe, a truly artistic and fantastic addition. The bag shows a wide bifurcated Indian tanned hide strap or tie off at the top on one side. The bag shows very good condition with little to no bead loss. Provenance: From a collection out of Big Sky, Montana from a Yellowstone Club estate. Overall measures 34"L by 6"W.

This is an excellent set of Santee Sioux Native American Indian hide gauntlet gloves showing outstanding whimsical beadwork. The set shows an Indian tanned hide construct...moreion with a large Warrior / Men’s size being a prominent presentation set completely covered with beautiful whimsical floral beadwork. The beadwork is done with all glass trade seed beads in colors such as cobalt, greasy yellow, red, Cheyenne pink, medium green and greasy dark green. The set shows a tall tapering gauntlet cuff attached to the glove which exhibits beadwork across both sides in the same floral pattern with a Cheyenne pink fancy outer edge further accented by long hand cut thin Indian tanned hide fringe at the outer edge of each side of the gloves. The beadwork runs down the front of each finger, a truly artistic and unique attribute found on Santee Sioux examples. The gloves are in excellent condition with little to no bead loss. Provenance: From a collection out of Big Sky, Montana from a Yellowstone Club estate. Each glove measures 18.5”L by 11.5”W with fringe.

The piece shows a solid hardwo...moreod staff which has been artfully completely hand carved showing a human effigy head carved top with period correct solid brass trade tack gripping area, incised geometric alternating square and triangle design further adorned by a blue, yellow and red ocher mineral painted finish. The human effigy carved top shows a Warrior’s head with mohawk having red dyed or paint from the eye sockets up and yellow paint or dyed from the eye sockets down having metal stud eyes. The detail and precision in this piece is astounding along with the very well preserved good condition. Provenance: From the estate collection of Mr. Williamson of Texas, a multi-generational American Indian collection that include the Baldwin and ‘S’ curve Ball Head War Clubs sold by our company and the painted hide and Storm Pattern Navajo rug in this sale. Measures overall 28.25”L.

The lot features an excellent beaded hide full size women’s dress from the Montana Crow Apsaalooke Absorka Native American Indians dating to the mid-20th Century. The pie...morece shows a fine Indian tanned Buffalo hide construction with petit glass trade seed cen beads having a period correct age showing corn yellow, brown, light blue, orange and chalk white framing the breast collar and end of the sleeves. The pieces also shows a wonderful hand cut long fringe at the arms and a row at the base of the dress accented further by double fringe ties holding wound glass cobalt and sky blue trade beads and cowrie shells. This dress is in fine well preserved very good condition and displays beautifully. From a very large Crow American Indian collection in Billings, Montana. Measures 47" long by 57" wide from sleeve tassel to sleeve tassel.

Scandinavian High Relief Carved Solid Wood Shelf

Offered in this lot is a unique Scandinavian high relief carved solid wood shelf. This book shelf has three shelves and a sunken bottom shelf. The hand carving along the top is extremely ornate and of high relief style. There are three parts to the "top" of the book shelf. The up-most part is a beveled trim piece that goes around three sides. The next piece down across only the front is 3 1/4" deep is carved with a triangle and wing style design that has small holes cut into, as if at one time from a piece that had lattice attached. The next section of carving on the front is 5 1/4" deep and has two plant and leaf images on either side of a center flower design. The back wall of the cabinet has four support strips on the inside and outside of the back wall. These pieces add strength as well as style. One support strip is also on each side. The bottom of the cabinet has a scalloped edge to it on three sides with Blacksmith forged strips of iron around the bottom four corners. This piece shows sold wood in old world craftsmanship. The wood is an unfinished with a rich brown tone. This is a great one of a kind piece. Measures 82"T x 46 1/2"W x 21 1/2"D.

The table shows an old Industrial Millwork reclaimed design with butcher block solid wood top and chunky turned wood legs having wrought iron hardware and straps. The table shows old square head and round iron nails with wood peg design and hand hewn and carved finishes. The piece was most likely salvaged from an old Millwork Industrial factory and made into this work of art. Overall it shows a coffee table height and is in very good solid condition with a nice rich patina. The table measures 21" tall with a diameter of 49".

Early 1900s Seven Drawer Oak Office Filing Cabinet

Included in this lot we have a seven drawer oak office filing cabinet originating from the early 1900's. The cabinet is constructed out of beautiful highly figured quarter sawn oak and shows original brass hardware. The filing cabinet displays four smaller pull drawers and three larger filing drawers. The front of the four drawers show paper tags reading "A-G", "O-U", "H-N", and "Flowers". The piece shows good condition overall with some light wear. The cabinet is constructed out of beautiful highly figured quarte...morer sawn oak and shows original brass hardware. The filing cabinet displays four smaller pull drawers and three larger filing drawers. The front of the four drawers show paper tags reading "A-G", "O-U", "H-N", and "Flowers". The piece shows good condition overall with some light wear. The cabinet measures 52" tall by 14 1/2" wide and 20 1/4" deep.

Available in this lot we have an original Tongaline Go-Shono Apache Indian medicine man advertising poster originating from 1905. Tongaline was a medicinal drug in the early 1900's manufactured by the Mellier Drug Company. Tongaline was used for countering Rheumatism, Neuralgia, Grippe, Gout, Sciatica, Lumbago, Dengue, Nervous Headache, and diseases of the liver and kidneys. The poster shows Apache medicine man Go-Shoto with a cloth hat with eagle feather and holding a hide shield decorated with colorful feathers. The piece shows a green background with off white lettering in the top right corner reading "Tongaline (Liquid Tablets)" with a list of ailments and marked "Go-SHoto Apache Medicine Man" on the bottom left side. The poster is set into a gilt gold frame with decorative floral embossed patterns and a dark border around the poster. The piece shows good condition overall with some light wear across the frame. The frame measures 33 1/4" wide by 38" tall with the art measuring 20" wide by 25" tall.

Offered in this lot we have a collection of early Native American trade knives originating from the late 1800's to the early 1900's. This collection consists of six trade...more knives: one Crescent trade knife with the other five unmarked. The knives show steel blades with one piece oak and other hard wood grips. The Crescent knife shows a straight back pattern blade. The lower rivet is marked "Crescent Reg’d". Three of the unmarked knives are constructed with copper rivets that have a nice green patina that has faded into the hard wood grips. The knives show good condition overall with some wear due to age and use. The largest knife measures 15" long with a 9 ½” long blade and the smallest knife measures 7 1/8" long with a 3 3/8" long blade.

Two of the knives feature a clip point blade while three are straight back and the last two are skinning blades. All of these unmarked knives are constructed with either steel or brass rivets that have a nice green patina that has faded into the hard wood grips. The knives show good condition overall with some wear due to age and use. The largest knife measures 15 ¼” long with a 10” long blade and the smallest knife measures 8 3/8” long with a 4 ½” long blade.

The piece comes with the Toh-Atin trading post tag marked accordingly and a photograph of the rug itself. The rug shows a nice tight weave with soft wool having a nice red background with stepped diamond center and stepped stair border having overall colors of Ganado red, cream / white, black, brown, and grey. The rug is in pristine museum quality condition. Measures overall 51” by 35”.

David Yellowhorse has transformed this knife into visions of his Navajo heritage and the spirit of Western themes. The piece shows a fine VG-10 C.F.K. Cutlery Company Stainless Steel skinner camp blade which shows black spider matrix Turquoise, deep red coral and black Onyx inlaid on both sides of the handle along with a silver hand cutout silhouette of a bear walking. The silver bear is inlaid on both sides of the grips. The bolsters have each been hand stippled / hammered by David Yellowhorse with his iconic stepped design. The spine of the handle has been vine file worked by hand. The blade is marked on the right “David Yellowhorse Custom” along with his logo. The knife has been paired with a Great American Bison Buffalo leather hand crafted sheath. The knife is in brand new condition and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity which is marked as being "Bear" and is signed by David Yellowhorse.
