Navajo Late Classic Germantown Blanket w/ Indigo

Lot # 179 (Sale Order: 154 of 708)

This is an original authentic late classic Germantown Navajo blanket dating to circa 1880-1890. Although the yarns are mostly Germantown, what makes this blanket unique f...moreor the period is the presence of handspun, native died indigo. Pieces with Germantown yarn rarely are found with natural indigo dyes, as commercial colors were readily available to the Navajo weavers by this period. Also within the body of this beautiful blanket there is Raveled American Flannel. The intricacy of the design in this blanket suggests that the weaver was an older skilled weaver who most likely was weaving through the classic period. This piece dates 1880-1890 and has no restoration, being in all original condition. Recently professionally cleaned, this blanket is ready for a prominent place in a quality collection. The size is 81 by 57 inches. Condition is excellent for a blanket of this vintage showing only some wear to the fringe, see images for condition.

Handwoven Chimayo Natural Stepped Medallion Style

Lot # 192 (Sale Order: 167 of 708)

Featured in this lot is a Hand Woven Chimayo Natural Stepped Medallion Style Rug, circa mid 1900s. This became known as the "Chimayo Design." The center geometric medallion is black, brown and creamy white, lower and upper geometric medallions are black and brown. Earth tones of brown dominate the stripe bands, solid red colour broad bands accentuate, white fringe finishes the long axis. A beautifully stunning rug that is well suited for the ranch lifestyle.
