Featured in this lot is this rare 14th - 15th century European rondel dagger. The dagger features a wonderfully and professionally smithed iron construction that shows a ...morefull tang body with a finely edged blade that shows some chips to it from use with a hilt built into the blade. Daggers such as these were used as a last resort or to finish off ones foes on the battlefield so they didn't suffer overly. The condition of this Rondel dagger is well preserved with heavy oxidation to the piece and some erosion to the hilt but otherwise shows well preserved condition.

1890- American Chippendale Mahogany Partners Desk

This lot features a fantastic solid mahogany American Chippendale style partner's desk dating to the late 19th to early 20th century. The desk features solid mahogany woo...mored carving in the very similar, if not matching, features from documented English and American Chippendale examples. The desk has cabriole highly-carved legs with ball and claw feet and column pillar corners and a carved integral molding framing the top. The desk opening has a cutout frieze which is mirrored on both sides. The desk shows five drawers on both sides, ten total drawers, each having solid brass polished hardware and dovetail construction. Three drawers along the top row of both sides have the original brass skeleton key locking hardware, but the key is not present. The desk is well made and truly beautiful, possibly of an earlier age. There is some wear as shown in the photographs, but overall the desk is in solid, well-kept condition. Review pictures for detailed condition. Measures overall

McCabe Jr., 1867, Blelock & CO., New York and New Orleans, LA.; Nat...moreional Publishing Company, Richmond, VA., Cincinnati, Ohio; and Saint Louis, MO. A comprehensive biography of the Commander of the Confederate Army, one of the most prominent and controversial figures in American history - General Robert E. Lee. The book covers Lee's life from his birth in Virginia in 1807, through his military career, and up until his death in 1870. The author describes Lee's early life, his education at West Point, and his service in the Mexican-American War. The book also covers Lee's decision to resign from the United States Army and join the Confederate Army during the American Civil War, where he became one of the most successful and respected generals of the Confederacy. The book provides a detailed account of Lee's military campaigns, including his victories at Fredericksburg and Chancellorsville, as well as his defeat at Gettysburg. The author also explores Lee's personal life, including his marriage to Mary Custis Lee and his relationship with his family. His papers and correspondence are collected at Johns Hopkins University and include communications with Robert E. Lee, George E. Pickett, and George A. Rosecrans. This green cloth bound gold gilt hardcover is in nice condition, slight scuffing exhibited on edges. Intact pages with age tanning and foxing throughout. Measures 5.5"W x 8.5"L x 1.1.5"D, weight 2lb.

1924 "Cowboys North & South" by Will James

For your consideration is a 1924 edition of “Cowboys North and South” by Will James. This is a profusely illustrated copy with illustrations by the author. The book is a ...moremissive, being a firsthand story telling of the author’s experience at cow camp and working the range as a cowboy. Will James' first book is a series of short stories about cowboy life in the real and actual West as it truly was between the 1870's and the early years of the 20th century. These stories, in colorful words and striking illustrations, portrayed the true working West rather than the Hollywood variety. All of the eight short stories in the book were previously printed in magazines. Seven of them appeared first in Scribner's Magazine and the last one was printed in “The Saturday Evening Post" (Frazier). William Roderick James (1892-1942) was a Canadian-American artist and writer of the American West. He is known for writing Smoky the Cowhorse, for which he won the 1927 Newbery Medal, and numerous "cowboy" stories for adults and children. His artwork, which predominantly involved cowboy and rodeo scenes, followed "in the tradition of Charles Russell, and much of it was used to illustrate his books. In 1992, he was inducted into the Hall of Great Westerners of the Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum. The condition of this book is good with some wear to the cover and the corners of the cover, but it shows good, overall condition for its age. The measurements of this book are 5.5W" x 8.25"L x .75"D.

Ca. 1890-1940 Northern Sioux Ledger Drawings (2)

The lot features a large original ledger drawings from the Northern Sioux dating to circa 1890-1940’s from the Robert Dickens Little Blue Hand collection showing the Carl...moreisle Indian School and Sioux Warrior images. These ledger drawings are from the same ledger book collection offered and sold from our company back in 2013. The original ledger book would have been traded to the Northern Sioux and was said to be handed down from their ancestor’s at the Sioux Pine Ridge Indian Reservation and later traded to the collector many years ago back in the 1970-1980s. The set ranging in age from circa 1890 on and is mostly believed to be drawn in circa 1920-1940s. The ledger drawing shows an original late 19th Century Ledger book page which is marked “German One Bank” and “Horse Wagon / Hamack F. / Hahn Heavy / Hecker J.”. The image shows a row of Sioux young men being forced to line up by a U.S. blue coat soldier with the Carlisle or U.S. Soldier barber cutting away one boys hair and two more leaving with their hair gone, stripping the boys of any Native American culture they have remaining. The Carlisle Indian Industrial School in Carlisle, Pennsylvania was the main Indian boarding school in the United States founded in 1879 through 1918. Original condition well preserved and displays beautifully. Another smaller ledger drawing from this collection depicting the Carlisle Indian School recently sold at our auction for $1,890 (shown w/ bp) in 2024. The frame is 18.25” by 12.25” and the art is about 15.75” by 10.5”.

Tanzanite Is a very rare precious gemstone that is only found in the Usumburu Mountains that border the Umba Valley of northern Tanzania. Gordon Henry was born in Box...more Elder, Montana and studied Visual and Media Arts at the University of Montana in Missoula. He now resides in Spokane, Washington. The ledger art has been done on a 1907 County Recorder's Fee and Reception Book page and shows a group of three Native Americans standing on grass wearing colorful trade blankets. They are looking into the distance at three teepees, designed with buffalo graphics. The sun shines down on them from the top left corner. The bottom right shows the artist's signature reading, "G. Henry" in black ink. The piece has been set in a black colored frame and has been matted once with black matting paper. The piece shows good condition overall with little to no wear present. The visible art measures 13 9/16" L x 16 1/8" W. The entire piece measures 16 7/8" L x 20 7/8" W x 11/16" D. It weighs 3 pounds and 10 ounces.

Crow Medicine Painted Shield ex-Christie's Sale

The lot features a beautiful polychrome painted Crow Medicine Shield from purchased from Christies Auction in New York during the 1970’s by Ted Levy of Santa Rosa, Califo...morernia. The original Christies sale tag is still attached to the back. The shield exhibits Indian brain tanned hide, which had been wetted and stretched over a bent twig frame. There are old-tarnished nails along the back of the framing and the original hide shoulder strap still being attached. The piece shows old yellow, blue, and red paints with an old cluster of pheasant feathers attached at the center. The paint has fading and is in a classic Northern Plains pattern. Truly a rarity with nice collection information from one of the most noted and oldest auction houses, Christie's. Shield measures about 18 inches in circumference.

Forged Iron Naval Boarding Spike Axe Early 1800s

Featured in this lot is this early 1800s forged iron naval boarding axe. Forged spike axes were commonly used during the American Colonial and American Revolutionary War ...moreperiods. Before the emergence of propeller-driven steel-hulled ships in the late 19th century, the naval boarding ax was the most important and flexible weapon employed aboard a naval vessel. Used as an effective weapon or sidearm in close quarters combat, either as a boarder or in repelling boarders. Also used to gather or cut rope, remove hot-shot from the wood hulls to avoid fires, and allow naval troops or boarders to climb up the side of a wooden hull on an opposing vessel. The axe shows a wood handle construction and a forged iron axe head with rivets down the side of the metal, connecting the head of the axe to the shaft. The spike is shows a slight downward inclination, common on British boarding axes, as Scandinavian and French boarding axes had more of a curve. The axe shows good condition overall with wear present from its age and use over the years but no major signs of damage is noted. The axe head is secure and has no play or give to it. The axe measures 16" L x 7" W x 1 5/16" D and weighs 1 pound and 10 ounces.

Beautiful Niall Redmond Scrimshaw Powder Horn 1745

For your consideration is this beautiful scrimshaw steer horn done by Niall Redmond in July of 1745. The powder horn shows a beautifully polished example with a carved se...morection and a polished horn section. The scrimshaw depicts a Scottish man playing the bagpipes as he dances around. He is wearing a kilt and a Scottish Bonnet or tartan cap. The scrimshaw reads, "Niall Redmond His Horn • July YE 1745 / Erin • France And Charlie / Death To The English". The bottom shows a metal piece for a shoulder strap to be connected to, while the top, near the polished bone section shows the carved plug where the black powder would be dispensed from. The powder horn comes with a red and blue woven strap featuring small white beads throughout. The piece shows great condition despite its antique age and handling over the years. Little wear is present and no signs of damage is noted. The powder horn measures 14 1/8" L x 3" W and weighs 10 ounces. The strap measures approximately 61" in length and 1 1/2" in width.

U.S. Model 1917 & 1898 Bayonet & Fighting Knife

Lot containing one U.S. issue Model 1917 Bolo knife and one U.S. Model 1898 Krag rifle bayonet scabbard. The Model 1917 Bolo has a very dark aged approx. 10” blade that i...mores marked “U S” over “1917” on the right side ahead of the guard and “Plumb” over “Phila.” on the left side. It has the correct coarse walnut handle, steel mounts and tight fitting canvas with leather reinforced sheath These were used as entrenching tools as well as close combat weapons. The 1898 Springfield Krag rifle bayonet is in exceptional condition with fine walnut handle with steel mounts and guard. The blade is fairly bright and is marked “U.S.” on one side and is dated “1898” on the other. The metal scabbard is in fine condition with the original swivel steel belt hanger intact.

The first ring shows a sterling silver thick ring band with ornate vine decoration with a caramel color pearl set into the center of the ring and is marked '.925 - Israel' on the inside of the ring band. The second ring is a sterling silver gold wash ring band with floral decoration and a white pearl set into the center and is marked 'Turkey - .925' on the inside of the ring band. The condition of this pair of rings is good with no obvious signs of damage and shows good overall condition. The measurements of this pair of rings is 1 1/4" x 7/8" x 5/8" and the ring size is US 10; and the second ring measures 1 5/8" x 1" x 1/2" and the ring size is US 10.
