Most of the Montana segment of US 2 runs alongside BNSF Railway's Northern Transcon route. The sign is reflective white with black lettering and a black border. The sign reads as follows: Montana 2. The condition of this Montana sign is preserved with some wear and weathering due to exposure and age with some chipping to the paint but otherwise is in preserved condition. The measurements of this Montana sign is 24" x 24".

Most of the postcards are black and white, a few ...moreof the photo postcards are hand-colored, a photographic practice that was in its infancy notably made famous by the Haynes Studio of Yellowstone National Park and St. Paul, MN. Images are of many small Montana towns and scenes including Hot Springs, Anaconda Smelter, State Capitol Helena, Mt. Helena, Virginia City Court House, Ruby MT, The Giant Springs Great Falls and many more. Various Native American scenes and photos are included as well. Some post cards have been stamped and written on while others remain blank. The postcards show good condition overall with wear present from their age and use over the years but no signs of obvious damage is noted. Some postcards are set in plastic sleeves to preserve their condition. The post cards measure an average of 3 3/8" L x 5 3/8" W.

Cherokee Hand Carved Steatite Pipe Mid/Late 1800s

Featured in this lot is this mid to late 1800s hand-carved Cherokee steatite elbow pipe. Many communities have a unique relationship with traditional, or sacred, tobacco....more The tobacco plant is considered a sacred gift by many American Indian and Alaska Native communities. Traditional tobacco has been used for spiritual and medicinal purposes by these communities for generations. The piece shows a steatite material with an angled elbow piece sitting at 90 degrees, and a short to medium sized shaft. The bowl is wide and deep showing a large area for plenty of tobacco and other herbs smoked during ceremonies. The pipe shows good condition for its age with no signs of damage present. The pipe measures 4 1/2" L x 2" W x 2 1/4" H and weighs 1 pound and 2 ounces.

World War I Horstmann Co. Trench Whistle 1900-20s

For your consideration is this World War I British Officer's trench whistle made by William Horstmann Company circa 1900-1920s. Established in 1815, William Horstmann Co....more was a military equipment specialist, specializing in woven textiles. Eventually, they branched out beyond garments to produce swords (apart from the blades) and other tools that allowed them to produce whistles. The British were the first to use whistles in World War I trenches to help soldiers overcome the noise of artillery shells and bullets. Whistles were used to coordinate troop movements, signal the infantry to leave the trenches, and warn artillery men when their gun was about to fire. The whistle is constructed from bronze and shows the Horstmann stamp on the top near the loop reading, "Horstmann Phila". The whistle features a long chain with a hook on the end for securing the whistle to garments or equipment. Overall the whistle shows good condition and produces a nice whistle sound. It shows wear from its age and use over the years, as well as a nice patina on the bronze. No obvious signs of damage is noted. The whistle measures 3 1/2" L (14 7/8" with chain) x 3/4" W.

This cylinder shaped basket features human and animal figures situated above ...moreKiva steps, symbols that look like stairs. The steps usually represent three levels: birth, life, and death (after-life). The Pima Indians, Akimel O'odham, located in central and southern Arizona, are known for their fine and intricate watertight basket-weaving. At the turn of the century, the baskets served as a vital instrument used for religious ceremonies, as well as carrying, preparing, and serving food, washing, collecting, storing, trading, payment, and gifting. Pima Indian basket materials are Devil's Claw (Martynia), willow, yucca and Bear grass. Tohono O'odham basket makers are among the finest in Native America. All materials are natural, as are all the colors - no dyes are ever used. Preparing the materials and forming the baskets is a very labor-intensive process. This basket is in very good condition, weaving is tight, a rich patina is noted throughout, no obvious marring observed. Measures 5" diameter, 3.5"H.*

The condition of these branding irons is preserved with heavy oxidation adorning the branding irons and some spot welding repair to the joints but otherwise shows preserved overall condition. The measurements of these branding irons are 29" x 3" x 3" and 43" x 4" x 4 1/4". The collective weight of these branding irons is 7lb 6oz.

Handtooled leather floral desig...moren with the word ""DUDE"" in the middle of the back. The silver buckle features two large Cripple Creek Turquoise cabochons above and below a silver running horse, a small red coral cabochon set immediately behind the horse. The rest of this impressive buckle features a floral design throughout. Reverse of the buckle is stamped ""S.S.I."" with a lightening bolt stamped underneath. Larger lightening bolts are also stamped on the underside. The brown leather belt is stamped ""top grain Made in Texas"" on the inside, along with inventory/style numbers. The leather is supple, length 36"", width 1.75"", no size stamp, approximate fit 28"" waist. Buckle total weight 136.3 gms.
