RARE WWII Type 98 Japanese Army Officer Gunto Katana with Ancient Sharp Koto Blade

Lot # 25A (Sale Order: 34 of 360)

"What makes this sword unique is that it was found impailed through its last victim in a tree, and then returned to its scabbard without cleaning the blade which gave it ...morethe blood pitting on the end, sad but true, brought back by a local soldier out of Hendersonville, NC from the Saipan Battle in Iro Jima" Per consignor - with a copy of the original picture of the veteran from March 30 1946 you can see him in the picture holding the sword (the brought back signed flag will be coming up in our next auction, so we must hang on to the original picture) also the obituary of the veteran "Ralph E. McBride" included // The Blue/Brown Sword knot was assigned to company grade officers (Lieutenants and Captains) in the war // Appears to have an Ancient Koto blade meaning "old sword" from years 900-1596 and they were passed down several generations (600+ Years) to be fitted into this Katana, making it very unique & very old (blade) // This blade is still extremely sharp and pitted with the blood if it's last enemy // Matching S# on all Grip Parts #86

GI WWII Bring Back Japanese Type 96 Trainer Machine Gun - Museum Quality

Lot # 34 (Sale Order: 44 of 360)

Still in remarkable condition with a good bit of the original blue left accompanied by some surface rust and minor pitting // This is the original gun, legal to own (cons...moreidered as a display) it has been demilled, welded, and filled according to ATF standards for deactivation // No magazine // Japanese machine guns very rarely show up for sale, and if they do,they are are not the training model. The only other example aware of is the one located in the National WWII Museum in New Orleans. The idea of the Japanese trainer version of the Type 96 Nambu was to be used as a blank-firing trainer. These are much harder to find than real Type 96s, and its a once in a lifetime chance to own one.
