Sculpted Plywood Shelf

Lot # 026 (Sale Order: 26 of 50)

The Ply Shelves are an apparently simple design, which is more complicated under the surface. Resembling the conventional wall mounted bracket shelf system, this design morphs these separate entities into a singular, yet variable thickness shelf. The ‘brackets’ are spaced at sixteen inches on center in order to align with wall studs. Between these brackets, a digitally relaxed surface is generated in response to structural calculation. Constructed of laminated plywood sourced from managed forests, these shelves are created using 3-D models and CNC-milled parts with low- VOC finishes and carefully optimizes material yield to reduce waste.

Pongo Coat Rack

Lot # 027 (Sale Order: 27 of 50)

For this project, we tackled the twisted-stick coat rack as a typology (This typology is otherwise known as a reciprocal frame). Our first inclination was to melt and weld these sticks together. Though impractical, it would have been possible to purchase a tree and carve this object out as a solid. Instead we looked to five-axis milling as an operation to ensure three individual sticks could be carved efficiently, shipped efficiently, and still align precisely with mechanical fasteners. Clever spiraling fastener placement allows the single component to attach to itself, instead of requiring variation between the sticks. In doing so, we were faced with the challenge of producing the moment in the design we are most fond of—the belly buttons. These internalized nubs rhetorically call for the bolts. The three sticks wrap around each other in such a way that the bolts align with the neighboring parts, making the assembly a simple task that requires no instruction manual. Custom matte finish.

#5 Chandelier

Lot # 028 (Sale Order: 28 of 50)

#5 is a ceiling mounted 5 light suspension fixture. The combination of craft and imagination results in a light that is simple, functional, and fun to look at. The multicolored wiring scheme contributes to the playfulness and presents a puzzle to the interested onlooker attempting to trace the flow of current through the lights. The lights are dimmable and can be hardwired or plugged in. #5 is the product of collaboration between Trevor Woolf and Scott Schiesel of Light Lite.

Myrargata Wall

Lot # 035 (Sale Order: 35 of 50)

Mixing historical photographic techniques with modern day fabrication technology, *Myrargata Wall* explores the theme of RUFFLE as an expression of internal discomposure and surface irregularity through texture, geometry, and geographic motifs. This piece was designed to explore the boundaries of Cyanotype photography, in more sculptural and architectural approaches, with the intentions of reflecting my experience living in Skagastrond, Iceland during January and February of this year at the Nes Artist Residency. *Myrargata Wall* is comprised of 300 individually laser-cut modular components designed to fit together as an architectural installation. The overall shape of the installation is entirely dependent upon the space in which it will inhabit. Because of this, there is great flexibility in the overall desired aesthetic and potential placement of this piece. Installation of the piece by the artist will be included for buyers in the Portland area.

SUSY

Lot # 037 (Sale Order: 37 of 50)

Originally functioning as sculptural props for an architectural corner installation titled, "SUSY", these collages are a remix where Rietveld meets Baas again & again & again. The original work was an exploration of the poetic twangs of supersymmetry (SUSY) layered over a personal impulse to fabricate space/time via mirroring styles I discovered while making images for Instagram. "Chairs" as artifacts for/of an architecture free from time & built within/upon images.

Men's shoes

Lot # 044 (Sale Order: 44 of 50)

Ned Siegel grew up in West Newbury, MA a town that was founded on agriculture but turned to Shoe Making and Comb Making at the beginning of the Industrial revolution. Behind his first house was a defunct shoemakers shop that was filled with wooden lasts (the forms that shoes are created around) which he and his brothers polished and sold in their driveway. Two years ago Ned felt the calling to continue the tradition of handmade shoes that he was raised around. He found a shoemaker on the internet and latched on completely. After finishing a 4 month apprenticeship, with Bill Shanor in Ashland OR, Ned is in the beginning stages of branching out on his own and starting a Bespoke Handmade shoe company in Portland OR called Gentle Craft Shoes. The name Gentle Craft originates from The Shoemakers Holiday a play written by Thomas Dekker in 1599. "Marry because you have drank with the king,And the king hath so graciously pledged you,You shall no more be called shoemakers. But you and yours to the world’s end Shall be called the trade of the gentle craft."
