LATE WAR GERMAN WORLD WAR II WALTHER "AC 45" CODE

P.38 SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL. Cal. 9x19mm Parabellum. S# 2658b. Bbl. 4 7/8". P.38 semi-automatic pistol mfg. in 1945 at the Walther arsenal. The left side of the slide is m...morearked "P.38", followed by the S#, as well as Walther's mfg. code "ac" and the 2-digit year of mfg. "45". Right side of slide exhibits a Walther Eagle/359 acceptance proof on either side of an eagle firing proof. Left side of bbl. is marked with an Eagle/WaA76, with an "fnh" code on the bottom of the bbl. block, indicating mfg. by Bohmische Waffenfabriken in Prague. Metal components exhibit a typical dull blue finish with some smaller components including the extractor, rear sight shoe, rear sight, slide lever, and trigger exhibiting a phosphate finish. Frame is mounted with 2-piece black grooved Polymid 6 grips. All numbers are matching and include the frame, slide, bbl., and locking block. MAGS: 2 8-rd. CONDITION: metal components retain the majority of their original arsenal finishes, exhibiting wear and thinning on the grip straps that show through to gray patina, with mild edge wear present overall. Mirror bore, exhibiting well defined rifling throughout. Grips exhibit some scattered superficial marks from handling and storage, but otherwise remain sturdy and serviceable. A nice example of a late war production Walther P.38 pistol. (23-6983/MLW). CURIO. $300-500.

37M SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL. Cal. 32. S# 20928. Bbl. 3 7/8". Model 37M semi-automatic pistol mfg. by FEG while under German occupation during World War II. The left side of...more the slide is marked "P.Mod. 37, Kal 7,65., followed by an eagle firing proof, as well as FEG's mfg. code and the year of mfg. "jhv/ 41". Left side of frame exhibits an Eagle/WaA58 acceptance proof on the trigger guard web. Metal components exhibit a blued finish, with the frame being mounted with 2-piece grooved wood grips. Matching numbers are present on the frame, slide, and bbl. MAGS: 1 7-rd. CONDITION: metal components retain the vast majority of their original arsenal blue finish, exhibiting some mild wear and thinning along edges, with a few small spots of pitting overall. Mirror bore, exhibiting strong rifling throughout. Grips show few minor marks from handling and storage and are very good overall. A very nice example of a German WWII issued FEG Model 37M pistol. BRITISH SMITH & WESSON MKII DA REVOLVER.

Lot # 1132 (Sale Order: 135 of 508)      

Cal. 45 Colt. S# 20095. Bbl. 6 1/2". Round blade front sight. WWI-era British contract revolver, mfg. 1914–1915. Matching numbers on frame and bbl. Cyl. and extractor mat...morech, but they do not match the frame number. Fixed rear sight. Blued finish with a case-colored trigger & hammer. Cyl. reamed to accept 45 Colt and was originally in 455 Eley. The left side of the gun has various British proofs instead of the "NOT ENGLISH MAKE" marking. The left rear also has an inscription that reads "Lt. LD.Schofield/7TH Cheshire Regt.". During WWI, the 7th Battalion of the Cheshire Regiment was a reserve volunteer unit. During WWII, the 7th would fight in France & Italy. Further research of Lt. Schofield may prove interesting. Unnumbered checkered diamond magna grips with gold S&W medallions. The bottoms of the grip panels have carvings that appear to read "LD" & "6 CHE." A lanyard ring is present on the bottom of the grip frame. CONDITION: grips show scattered dings and handling wear. Trigger & hammer retain much of their case colors, with some operational wear and scattered oxidation. The balance of metal retains 60% of its blue with an overall flaking to brown, a few dings, and some scattered oxidation. Good, bright bore with some light oxidation but strong rifling. VICTORY MODEL DOUBLE ACTION REVOLVER. Cal. 38 S&W. S# V664553. Bbl. 5". Victory Model double action revolver mfg. by Smith & Wesson. Left side of bbl. is marked "SMITH & ...moreWESSON", with S&W's mfg. and patent information marked across the top and the caliber designation marked on the right. Left side of frame is engraved "Railway Police / Augsburg", with S&W's trademark logo marked on the right. Rear grip strap is stamped ''G.R.P.", (possibly indicating German Railway Police). Top strap is stamped with a US flaming ordnance bomb followed by "U.S. PROPERTY G.H.D.". Frame, cyl., and bbl. exhibit a parkerized finish, with the trigger and hammer exhibiting a case color hardened finish. Frame is mounted with 2 piece smooth wood grips and features a lanyard swivel on the butt. All numbers are matching and include the frame, cyl., ejector, and bbl. Interior of right grip panel is stamped with a matching number to the frame, minus the "V" suffix. CONDITION: very good, with metal components retaining the majority of their arsenal finish, exhibiting some mild thinning on the grip straps and a small concentrated area of oxidation on the left side of the bbl. at the muzzle. Brilliant mirror bore exhibiting sharp and well defined rifling throughout. Grips show some scattered marks and minor impressions from handling and storage, but otherwise remain sturdy and serviceable. A very interesting, likely post war German used Smith & Wesson Victory Model revolver. PROVENANCE: from Lifelong Collection of Terrence McCarty. (24-578/MLW). CURIO. $300-400.

Cal. designation has been period modified, originally reading "455 ELEY" and now reading "45" followed by a hand stamped "COLT". Left side of frame is marked with the Rampant Colt logo and "VP" proof. Rear grip strap is stamped "R.N.W.M.P 1.2.9.9.", with "MP" stamped on the butt and on the left side of the frame (beneath the left grip panel), indicating issue to the Canadian Royal Northwest Mounted Police (precursors to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police). Metal components exhibit a lustrous blue finish. Frame is mounted with 2-piece "COLT" checkered hard rubber grips. Clip point blade front sight with frame notched rear sight. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: period modified brown leather holster with cleaning rod. CONDITION: metal components retain large amounts of their original factory blue finish, exhibiting wear and thinning that show through to gray patina, as well as scattered handling marks and light to mild surface oxidation overall. Mirror bore, exhibiting strong rifling throughout. Left grip panel exhibits mild smoothing, with some scattered marks from handling and storage. Right grip exhibits moderate smoothing overall, with a chip present at the bottom left corner of the panel. Holster remains malleable, exhibiting wear, with some spots of light age related cracking. Right side of the frame has a Webley winged bullet logo. Top of the bbl. is marked "Wilkinson Pall Mall. London S.W.". The left side of the trop strap is marked "WILKINSON-WEBLEY 05." High-polish blue finish. The backstrap has a British officer inscription that reads "P.G. DAVIDSON. 12TH LANCERS." The 12th Lancers were a British cavalry unit that took part in several well-known WWI battles, including Mons, First Ypres, Neuve Chapelle, Second Ypres, and the 1918 Offensives. Checkered hardwood grips. The right grip panel has a silver oval disc. The bottom of the grip frame has a lanyard ring. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: brown leather period holster. CONDITION: bottom of the left grip panel shows a 1/3" crack; the top of the right panel has a repaired chip; the grips otherwise show chipped checkering, dings, and handling wear.
