Straight bolt handle. Cleaning rod & bayonet adapter are present. European walnut stock set. Stock set has crisp legible markings throughout including oval acceptance mark on right side of butt. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: matching brass & steel sight protector. 10" fullered blade bayonet w/ matching numbered steel scabbard. Bayonet is marked "WEYERSBERG KIRSCHBAUM&C SOLINGEN". Bayonet appears in very good overall condition. Smooth walnut grips have light handling marks. Balance of handle has several sm. areas of peppery oxidation. Wood handguard is a replacement. Receiver cover bears the Tula arsenal (arrow within a star) insignia above the year of mfg. "1950". Century Arms International import stamp on right side of bbl. All numbers are matching and include the receiver, trigger guard, magazine housing, receiver cover, bolt carrier, bolt, and buttstock. Extractor and gas cyl/handguard are electro-penciled to match. Blade type bayonet w/ brown canvas web sling. CONDITION: very good as refurbished, w/ metal components retaining the majority of their reapplied black matte finish, exhibiting some mild superficial wear that shows through to silvering overall. Mirror bore, exhibiting well defined rifling throughout. Stock shows some minor handling marks, but is otherwise very good. PROVENANCE: From the estate collection of Thomas J. Mulligan. 1) IZHEVSK "1938" 91/30 MOSIN NAGANT. Cal. 7.62x54R. S# A8476. Bbl 29". Standard configuration M91/30 Mosin Nagant manufactured at the Izhevsk arsenal in 1938. Barrel sha...morenk bears the Soviet state emblem above "1938", the serial number, arsenal refurbishment proof (also present on the right side of the buttstock), and the Izhevsk arsenal insignia. Left side of receiver is import marked. Metal components are blued, with the stock and handguard being comprised of solid wood. Matching numbers are present on the barrel shank, bolt, floorplate, as well as on the buttplate, and are force matched from the time of arsenal refurbishment. Rifle is mounted with a Soviet green canvas web sling and non-matching spike bayonet. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: 2 cell brown leather ammunition pouch containing a takedown tools and an oiler. CONDITION: metal components retain the majority of their arsenal reapplied blue finish, exhibiting some scattered areas of wear and some marks from handling and storage. Bright bore, exhibiting well defined rifling throughout. Stock exhibits some scattered handling marks, with flaking to the varnish overall. 2) BUDAPEST M.95 REPETIER-KARABINERSTUTZEN CARBINE. Cal. 8x56mmR. S# 4546Z. Bbl 20". M95 straight pull carbine manufactured in Budapest, Hungary. Barrel shank bears a nearly indiscernible acceptance proof, with legible characters appearing to read "13". Early pattern rear barrel band. Blued finish with solid wood buttstock and handguard. No matching numbers. CONDITION: metal components exhibit oxidation overall, with the balance exhibiting a brown / dark gray surface. Bore is bright, exhibiting what appears to be grease and good rifling throughout. Stock shows scattered marks and impressions from storage and handling, with the handguard bearing a sizeable crack. 3) VETTERLI M1870/87/15. Cal. 6.5x52mm Carcano. S# YX1531. Bbl 33 3/4". Vetterli rifle manufactured at the Italian Torre Annunziata arsenal in 1890 and subsequently converted into an M1870/87/15 configuration. The faceted breech bears Italian proofs, inspector marks, manufacturer stamps, the serial number, as well as the year of manufacture "1890". Right side of magazine housing is lightly etched "JM". Metal components are blued, with the stock being comprised of wood. CONDITION: metal components exhibit wear and thinning overall, with the balance exhibiting a mottled gray patina with scattered spots of darker discoloration. Bore is bright, exhibiting old grease and strong rifling throughout. Stock has been sanded and revarnished, exhibiting some scattered marks and impressions from storage and handling. (23-2412, 23-2414, 01-23914/MLW). CURIO & ANTIQUE. $400-700.

U.S. INDIAN WAR ERA SPRINGFIELD MODEL 1866 "2ND

ALLIN ALTERATION" SINGLE SHOT MILITARY RIFLE. Cal. 50-70. NSN. Bbl. 40". Bbl. was made by reaming out 58 cal. musket bbl. & fitting 50 cal. liner. Folding rear sight w/ 2...more apertures graduated to 700 yards. Stud type front sight. This rifle also known as the "Second Allin Alteration" used the 50-70 CF cartridge instead of the unsatisfactory rimfire design of the Model 1865 conversions. The rifles were used in the Wagon Box Fight & the Hayfield Fight in Wyoming & Montana in August, 1867 defeating a large force of Sioux led by the famous Chief Red Cloud. The breech block is marked 1866 & has the eagle head proof. The thumb latch is retained by a screw. Beveled lockplate marked "U.S. SPRINGFIELD" & eagle tail of lock dated "1864". Beveled hammer w/ flat nose. 2 Position tumbler. Walnut stock marked on left panel w/ "HSH" & marked behind trigger guard tang w/ illegible assembly letter. Stock has "U.S." marked buttplate. Forend equipped w/ 3 oval bands retained by springs. Sling swivels located at front of trigger guard bow & middle band. Correct ramrod which seats below muzzle. CONDITION: stock has nice original finish w/ legible cartouche & light wear plus scattered handling marks. Metal was finished bright & has been cleaned but is returning to a dull patina appearance. Breech block retains 50% of its blue finish. Lock & hammer have dull case hardened appearance. Bore has several scattered sm. pits but is otherwise bright & shiny w/ sharp lands. (01-23834/RW). ANTIQUE. $700-900.

The 1866 S...moreecond Allin Conversions were based on the late type rifle muskets & were produced in the then new 50-70 cartridge. The bbls. of these muskets were lined in order to reduce the bore diameter from .58 to 50. These 1866 model rifles are well known because of their initial use in the Wagon Box Fight & the Hayfield Fight against a lg. force of Sioux under the Chief Red Cloud. Breech block is marked w/ "1866" eagle head acceptance mark. This eagle head & "P" proof appear on left hand side of bbl. Beveled edge lockplate has eagle & "U.S. SPRINGFIELD" & is dated "1864" at rear of lockplate. Two click tumbler. Unmarked walnut stock is retained by 3 oval bands retained by springs. Correct ramrod is present. Buttplate is marked on tang w/ "US" plus 3 tiny S's. CONDITION: stock has been refinished w/ slight loss of wood in inletted areas & softening of edges. 1 1/2" fine crack behind breech block tang. Metal has been cleaned & was bright but now turning gray w/ areas of patina, oxidation & fine pitting. Lockplate has notably polished appearance. Hinge pin appears to be replacement. Very good shiny bore w/ sharp lands. PROVANANCE: From the estate collection of Thomas J. Mulligan. (01-23363/RW). ANTIQUE. $500-900.

The breech block is dated 1869 & has the eagle head acceptance mark & "U.S.". The 1863 dated beveled edge lockplate has the eagle & "U.S. SPRINGFIELD" markings. The unmarked walnut stock is retained by 2 split oval bands retained by springs. Correct single shouldered ramrod is present. CONDITION: stock has vintage arsenal rework finish w/ extensive wear & handling marks. Notable transverse dents in forend. Ramrod measures 35 5/8" overall & has the later double shoulder 2 piece trigger guard. Buttplate is marked "US". CONDITION: stock has arsenal rework finish w/ added finish over wear, staining & handling marks. Notable dents at bottom of forend & along ramrod channel. Metal has turned overall gray & patina w/ oxidation, wear & extensive fine pitting throughout. Bore has extensive shallow pitting turning dark in grooves. Late style ramrod. 2 piece trigger guard. Vintage dark brown leather sling w/ brass buckle & replacement keeper. CONDITION: stock has arsenal rework finish & appears to be unmarked w/ moderate wear & handling marks throughout. Small crack behind breech block tang & notable missing chip at forward end of trigger guard. CONDITION: stock has vintage arsenal rework finish w/ slight loss of wood in inletted areas. Finish is worn w/ staining and handling marks throughout. Markings are obscure. Extensive crack on both sides of wrist & behind lockplate. Stock tip is retained by poorly fitting replacement screw and has repaired crack. Additional repaired crack behind ramrod retaining spring & underneath rear of receiver. Metal has turned overall gray & patina w/ added blue on rear sight bands, receiver & breech block.
