Lot of two WW2 era arsenal cutdown M1905 bayonets for the M1 Garand rifle. 1. M1 BAYONET W/ SCABBARD. Blade is marked "US" & 397488 on the right side. Left side of blade ...moremarked "SA/(Flaming bomb)/1909". Tang marked "AFH" for American Fork & Hoe. Right grip panel has white paint anchor. Left grip panel marked w/ white paint "USS OKLA BB 37". for the battleship Oklahoma. Given USS Oklahoma was sunk at Pearl Harbor & the M1 bayonets were converted beginning in 1943 it is probable these naval markings are post service applied. Green scabbard present marked w/ "US" inside a flaming bomb. CONDITION: very good. Metal parts of bayonet show light oxidation & silvering. Grips show sticker wear, light flaking & dings. Metal parts of scabbard show oxidation & are turning silvery-gray. Scabbard shows scattered flaking & crackling. 2. M1 BAYONET. No scabbard present. Right side of blade marked "US/176311". Left side of blade marked "RIA/(Flaming bomb)/1910". Right grip panel has stamped white paint anchor. Left grip panel has white paint "USS NEVADA BB 36". It is probable that these naval markings are post service applied. CONDITION: good plus. Metal parts show silvering & oxidation. Grip panels show some handling wear, sticker residue & scratches. 1) 11 3/4" Fullered blade. Blade is marked on left ricasso w/ "1896" and right ricasso "US". Blade has bright metal, birdshead pommel, straight cross guard, smooth walnut...more grips secured by 2 flush rivets & blued steel scabbard w/ 100 degree oscillating belt hook. CONDITION: bright metal is turning gray w/ areas of very light oxidation. Blade has been sharpened. Grips have light wear & handling marks throughout. Left grip has notable sm. crack & missing chip. Scabbard retains 80% original blue w/ thinning & wear. 2) 11 3/4" Fullered blade. Blade marked on left ricasso "1896" & marked on right ricasso w/ "US". Straight cross guard, birdshead pommel & walnut grips w/ machine marks fastened by 2 domed rivets. Right grip is marked w/ "E". Blued steel scabbard w/ 100 degree oscillating Birnie belt attachment. CONDITION: blade has been sharpened. Bright metal has light wear. Beginning gray coloration w/ scattered spots of oxidation and handling marks. "US" on right ricasso shows evidence of cleaning leaving the marking somewhat faint. Grips have light wear & scattered handling marks. Scabbard retains 75% original blue w/ wear. Gray blade has blue at ricasso. Right ricasso marked w/ U.S. flaming bomb, eagle head acceptance mark. "20" & "X". Left ricasso marked w/ encircled "Remington 1917". Balance of metal is blue. Smooth walnut grips w/ 2 transverse grooves. Pommel is made w/ oil hole. Green leather scabbards with metal throat & tip. Throat is equipped w/ M1910 belt hook & marked w/ "GF" in oval. CONDITION: blade has been sharpened. Has scattered peppery oxidation while retaining most of its gray finish. Balance of metal retains most of its original blue. Grips have very light wear. Scabbard retains 70% green finish w/ tight stitching. Metal has light wear & oxidation. 2) 16 7/8" fullered blade. U.S. Model 1917 bayonet. Gray laid w/ blued ricasso. These bayonets while similar to the British Pattern 1907 were mfg. for the experimental Pattern 13 rifles. The 2 grooves in the grips helped to identify these bayonets as...more the pattern 13 & not Pattern 1907 which fit the LE's. These bayonets were manufactured in the U.S. by Remington & Winchester for the later Pattern 14 rifles. The production of these bayonets was taken up by the U.S. Government & the British markings were superceded by US marks. 1) 17" fullered blade. Blade is finished blue at ricasso. Right ricasso has British view marks which are lined out & is remarked U.S. Left ricasso is marked w/ encircled Remington dated 1913 w/ additional date of 8 17. Straight cross guard. Smooth walnut grips w/ 2 transverse grooves. Green leather scabbard marked "H.E." & "J" in diamond. Frog has US style belt hook. Frog dated "1917". Scabbard has steel tip & throat. CONDITION: bayonet blade has been sharpened & has light oxidation at forward end. Grips have light wear & handling marks. Scabbard has wear, scuffing & flexing. Metal parts have wear & light oxidation. 2) 17" fullered blade. Right ricasso has British view marks which are lined out & is remarked U.S. Left ricasso is marked w/ encircled Remington dated 1913 w/ additional date of 8 17. Straight cross guard. Smooth walnut grips w/ 2 transverse grooves. Leather scabbard w/ steel tip & throat. Scabbard has been converted w/ US style belt hook. Metal throat has "G.F." in oval on reverse side. CONDITION: blade has traces of thinning blue w/ wear & light oxidation. Blade has been sharpened. Cross guard has heavy wear & notable distortion. Grips have heavy wear, staining & handling marks w/ fine crack at rear of left grip. Scabbard has traces of green coloration w/ heavy wear, staining & flexing. Metal parts are notably dented & worn. Blued blade with hooked quillon, conto...moreured birds head pommel, and steel scabbard. CONDITION: blade retains much of its blued finish, with wear showing through to gray patina overall. Grip shows scattered handling marks, but is otherwise sturdy and serviceable. Gray patina on the quillon, pommel, and scabbard. 2) Manufactured at the Koishikawa/Kokura arsenal. Right side of ricasso bears the Koishikawa/Kokura arsenal insignia, with number "1888147" on the bottom of the pommel. Blued blade with hooked quillon, contoured birds head pommel, and matte black finished scabbard. CONDITION: blade retains much of its blued finish, exhibiting mild wear with some scattered losses from cleaned oxidation. Quillon and pommel exhibit a gray patina, with some scattered surface oxidation and pitting. Grip shows scattered handling marks, but remains sturdy and serviceable. Scabbard shows flaking and wear to its matte black painted finish overall. 3) Manufactured at the Koishikawa/Kokura arsenal. Right side of ricasso bears the Koishikawa/Kokura arsenal insignia, with the number "2106044" on the bottom of the pommel. In-the-white blade with blued hooked quillon, contoured birds head pommel, and scabbard. CONDITION: blade exhibits mild to moderate spots of pitting overall, but otherwise presents nicely. Quillon, grip, and pommel retain good amounts of their blued finish, with mild wear overall. Grips show some scattered handling marks, but are otherwise very good. Scabbard shows wear and thinning overall through to gray patina. 4) Manufactured at the Jinsen arsenal in Korea. Right side of ricasso bears the Jinsen arsenal insignia, with number "85916" on the bottom of the pommel. Blued blade, with hooked quillon, straight side birds head pommel, and scabbard. CONDITION: very good overall, with the blade retaining much of its original arsenal blue finish, exhibiting modest wear on the sides from the scabbard. Grips show some scattered handling marks, but are otherwise very good. Scabbard shows mild surface oxidation overall. 5) Manufactured at the Jinsen arsenal in Korea. Jinsen arsenal on right side of ricasso, with number "96452" on bottom of pommel. Blued blade, with hooked quillon, straight side birds head pommel, and scabbard. CONDITION: blade exhibit oxidation and pitting, with some nicks and minor losses to the blade edge towards the tip. Quillon and pommel exhibit wear and scattered spots of surface oxidation. Scabbard exhibits surface oxidation overall. 6) Manufactured at the Mukden arsenal in China. Mukden arsenal insignia on right side of ricasso, with number "5390" on bottom of pommel. Blued blade, with straight quillon, contoured birds head pommel, and scabbard. CONDITION: blade retains traces o its original blue finish, exhibiting a gray patina with scattered pitting, discoloration, and some spots of surface oxidation. Quillon and pommel exhibit a gray pitted surface. Grip shows a loss on the right with some scattered handling marks, but otherwise remains sturdy and serviceable. Scabbard exhibits wear and thinning overall. 7) Manufactured at the Mukden arsenal. Right side of ricasso bears the Mukden arsenal insignia, with a partially discernible number "623X" (last digit is not legible) on the bottom of the pommel. Blued blade with straight quillon, contoured birds head pommel, and scabbard. CONDITION: blade retains much of its original blued finish, exhibiting areas of wear that show through to gray patina, with scattered spots of pitting that are mostly concentrated at the blades tip. Smooth walnut grips secured by flush rivets. Latch components are not present in pommel. Leather scabbard w/ attached frog. 2) Australian Model 1907 bayonet w/ 17" fullered blade. Blade is marked on left ricasso "2 42". Right ricasso marked "MA" Two broad arrows, 2 view marks "X". Straight cross guard. Smooth hardwood handles retained by 2 screws. Birdshead pommel. Leather scabbard w/ steel throat & tip. Green web frog. 3) British Model 1907 bayonet. 16 5/8" fullered blade. Blade marked on left ricasso crown "1907 11'09" / "SANDERSON". ANTIQUE BAYONETS. 1) British Pattern 1856. 22 3/4" fullered bright blade. Left ricasso has "Knights Head" logo. Right ricasso marked "S 18". Straight cross guard w/ S#. M...moreuzzle ring & auxiliary foresight. Checkered leather grips retained by 4 rivets. Birds head pommel. Unmarked leather scabbard w/ brass throat & tip. CONDITION: blade has wear, oxidation & fine shallow pitting throughout. Balance of metal turning gray & patina w/ wear. Grips are worn w/ flattened diamonds. Leather scabbard has wear, flexing, loose stitching & notable tear below throat. Brass parts have been cleaned & are returning to patina. 2) 21 3/4" Triangular blade socket bayonet w/ lock ring. Blade is marked on top w/ "M" in oval. Socket is marked on top rear w/ S#. CONDITION: socket & neck retain most of a fading original blue. Balance of bright blade has staining & spots of oxidation. 3) A German copy of a French Model 1842 w/ a 23 3/4" fullered blade. Blade is marked on left ricasso "S&K" & indistinct logo on right ricasso. Straight cross guard w/ muzzle ring & auxiliary foresight. Grooved brass handle w/ birds head pommel. CONDITION: steel parts have turned overall gray & patina w/ scattered spots of oxidation & fine pitting. Blade has been sharpened. Worn brass handle has turned a dark patina. 4) US Model 1905 Springfield. 15 7/8" blued fullered blade marked on left ricasso "R.I.A" flaming bomb "1906". Right ricasso marked "US". Straight cross guard. Replacement coarse turned walnut grips. Early type leather scabbard w/ no visible markings. Equipped w/ Model 1910 belt hook. CONDITION: blade retains 50% arsenal rework blued finish w/ light wear. Blade has been sharpened. Balance of metal turning gray w/ traces of blue. Well worn grips w/ sm. handling marks. Leather scabbard has wear, scratches & scuffing. Belt hook tab is partially attached w/ glued repair. Sm. area of loose stitching at tip. 5) US 1905 Springfield. 15 3/4" blued fullered blade.
