IMPERIAL GERMAN MODEL 88/05 CONVERSION BOLT ACTION

MILITARY RIFLE SUPPLIED TO TURKEY. Cal.8mm Mauser. S# 5505p. Bbl. 29 1/4" w/ ladder rear sight re graduated w/ Turkish numerals to 2,000 meters. Inverted V front sight. R...moreeceiver ring is marked on top w/ "LOEWE BERLIN 1891". Also marked w/ "S" indicating the throat of the chamber altered in 1905 for the S Type ammunition. Rifle has been given the Model 1905 conversion to use the standard Mauser stripper clips. The conversion includes addition of a spring loaded cartridge retainer in the left receiver rail & the addition of a thumb slot in the left rail obscuring a portion of the rifle markings. The mag. has an added dust cover at the bottom. Clip guides were riveted to the side of the receiver bridge. Straight handled bolt assembly w/ matching numbers & the Turkish crescent moon acceptance marks. Balance of rifle numbers are non matching throughout. Correct cleaning rod is present. Upper band has German unit markings. Walnut stock retains traces of original Imperial German acceptance marks. CONDITION: stock has arsenal rework type finish w/ extensive wear, dents, staining & scratches. Notable lg. missing chip from left side of forend & additional crack at the wood line. Right side of forend has chipping issues at wood line. Buttplate & trigger guard show loss of wood in inletted areas. Metal is well worn turning gray w/ oxidation and light pitting throughout. Bbl. jacket has notable dents on the left side near muzzle. Dust cover at bottom of magazine well dated 1914 has broken thumb tab. Good shiny bore w/ lightly worn lands. (01-23446/RW). Forend is retained by 3 clamping bands. Lower band had replacement screw. Bottom swivels. Buttstock is marked on right side w/ initials "E.L.". Grip is marked on left side w/ "4" plus left side has several deep scratches in cheek area. Buttstock comb has faint "R". Buttstock is additionally numbered "25". CONDITION: stock set has extensive wear, dents, staining & scratches commensurate w/ long hard service. Metal originally finished bright has turned gray & patina w/ extensive fine pitting throughout. SCARCE SPANISH ISSUED ARGENTINE 1891 MAUSER BOLT

ACTION RIFLE. Cal. 7.65 Arg. S# H2734. Bbl. 29". Matching numbers on bbl., bolt, mag., rear sight & rear sight tab. Stock number is illegible. This rifle is one of an est...moreimated 10,000 Argentine 1891 Mauser rifles that were diverted from Argentina to Spain after an 1894 rebellion in Morocco. After the rebellion was over, these guns were sent to Spanish occupation forces in Cuba. They would of course see use in the Spanish American War. Following that conflict the guns were sent to Springfield Armory were they were auctioned off and 2,047 sold to Bannerman the well known NYC surplus dealer. These Spanish issued guns fall in the G & H prefix ranges & have the older Gew 88 style 2000m rear sight. Most notably they lack crests unlike a standard Argentine issued rifle. Walnut stock w/ bottom mounted sling swivels. No handguard or cleaning rod present. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: Argentine 1909 bayonet w/ matching numbered scabbard & unground crest in good condition. CONDITION: stock has an older oil finish w/ faint Argentine cartouches, scattered dings & handling marks. Metal is turning to a brown patina w/ heavy oxidation ahead of rear sight, further scattered oxidation & traces of original blue. Fair bore w/ worn rifling & scattered frosting. (01-23846/MJC). SCARCE SPANISH MODEL 1874 ROLLING BLOCK SINGLE

SHOT MUSKETOON. Cal. 43 Spanish Reformado. S# NSN. Bbl. 23 1/8" w/ folding rear sight graduated to 600 meters. Stud type front sight. These handy carbine length rifles we...morere used mostly to arm Sappers & Garrison Artillery Troops. This rifle is in 43 Spanish Reformado although it does not have the usual "F" or "R" markings which were stamped at the time the rifles were rechambered. the transformation allowed the use of both the 43 Spanish & the later 43 Spanish Reformado. Receiver is marked on right side w/ crown "AR." & "O." plus "1886". The breech block is fitted w/ a firing pin retractor & sliding bar extractor. The hinge pins appear to be modern replacements. 2 piece walnut stock set. The forend is secured w/ 2 clamping bands which are also retained by springs. Forend has characteristic Spanish transverse reinforcing screw. Correct ramrod is present. The buttstock has various numerals on both sides & a flat type buttplate w/ long tang. Buttplate marked w/ "CF" in oval. Bottom swivels are fitted. The rear fitted swivel mounted in the butt & the front swivel in the upper band. Unmarked vintage sling w/ brass fittings & single sliding keeper. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: 21 3/4" triangular blade bayonet is marked w/ sm. 4 pointed "flower". Unmarked leather scabbard & belt frog. Scabbard has brass tip which has been reinforced w/ copper wire. Bayonet shows traces of original glue turning gray & patina w/ light oxidation & scattered shallow thinning. Brown leather scabbard has wear, scuffing & staining. Brass tip turning patina has wear & dents. CONDITION: stock set has the wear & handling marks expected from long service but retains the appeal of an unusual piece. Metal has traces of original blue which is fading & turning gray plus showing wear & handling marks. Breech block & hammer were bright but are now turning gray as well. Shiny bore w/ moderate wear to lands. (01-23484/RW). ANTIQUE. $400-600.

Notable chipping around escutcheon & left side of forend. Metal is heavily worn. Turned overall gray & patina w/ light oxidation & fine pitting. Screw heads are notably burred. Lanyard loop in butt w/ Rampant Colt hard rubber grips; back of right panel hand etched "MAYA KUEHN 1940 SNOW FALLS SO DAK". CONDITION: metal is primarily a gray & brown patina w/ some traces of original blue lurking in the protected & sheltered areas. There are scratches & light dings along w/ fine pitting. Top strap is marked "US PROPRTY GHD." indicating inspection by Guy H. Drewry. Major metal components exhibit a gray parkerized finish, with the hammer and trigger being case color hardened. Frame is mounted with 2 piece smooth wood grips. Half-moon front sight with frame notched rear sight. Lanyard loop is mounted with a cord and leather lanyard. Matching numbers are present on the frame, cylinder, barrel, as well as on the interior of the right grip panel. CONDITION: Very good, with metal components retaining the vast majority of their period arsenal finish, exhibiting some mild edge wear and scattered superficial handling marks. Cylinder shows a couple scattered spots of mild surface oxidation. Mirror bore, exhibiting well defined rifling throughout. Grips show some minor superficial marks from handling and storage, but are otherwise very good. (23-1870/MLW). CURIO. $300-400.

Left side of receiver marked w/ flaming bomb ordnance mark on top strap in front of hammer & Eagle Head w/ S9 above rear of trigger guard. Bottom of pistol grip on frame marked; "U.S./ ARMY / MODEL / 1917" & serial number. Below barrel marked "75058" w/ Eagle Head & "S2". Cylinder face marked "75058" w/ Eagle Head & "S4". Inside or ejector marked "75058". Smooth hardwood grips w/ S&W medallions. CONDITION: Finish is complete & consistent w/ some thinning on high spots & left side of barrel. Drag line on cylinder. Grips free of any noticeable imperfections. Lanyard loop absent & grips have no provision for it. Bore remains bright w/ well defined rifling. Timing appears correct. (23-2409/JZ). CURIO. $400-600.
