CONDITION: stock shows some chipping around lock & breech. Stock also shows further chipping in ramrod channel & scattered handling wear. Bottom of butt marked "US" behind lower tang denoting that this musket was used by the US government as treaty or annuity payment to Native tribes prior to the Civil War. Top of upper tang, right side of butt & key escutcheon have a carved "H" letter. CONDITION: stock has added finish w/ a small crack on left side near recoil lug, scattered dings & handling wear. Brass parts are a dull yellow patina w/ some oxidation & dings. Balance of metal is a gray oxidized patina w/ some scattered pitting most notable near hammer. Oxidized bore w/ scattered pitting. Elegant replacement flintlock engraved "EGG"; lack of address on bbl. & other markings appears to indicate facsimile. Lock has light scroll engraving w/ partial sunburst motifs; engraving highlights extending to hammer. Breech tang has light scroll engraving highlighting roosting pheasants along w/ geometric pattern borders. Double wedge fastened walnut straight grip stock w/ wrap around checkering, pineapple finial finger curl trigger guard, oval scant cheekpiece & buttplate having light engraving on peak. Ebony ramrod w/ brass tips. CONDITION: bbl. has dull patterns w/ gray appearance showing minor pitting & cleaning streaks. Period replacement lock shows lack of fitting on exterior mortises & interior pan mortise while having a fine bright appearance w/ light patina. Stock shows splice repairs around thimble & in front of frizzen spring. Stock shows scattered large cracks. Varnish applied over numerous light impressions. Metal is mostly a gray patina w/ scattered oxidation & some pitting. Oxidized & pitted bore. (01-23716/MJC). 2) BELGIAN MODEL 1874 GRAS BOLT ACTION SHOTGUN CONVERSION. Cal. 10 GA. NSN. Bbl 31 5/8". Model 1874 Gras rifle that was subsequently converted to a single shot bolt action shotgun. Metal components are in-the-white. Belgian proofs on receiver, barrel, and bolt. Soldered front sight with rear barrel band notched rear sight. Stock has been cut down, sanded, and revarnished. Trigger guard is a replacement. Bbl. 39". 1853 Enfield style musket that is likely of Nepalese mfg. Lock assembly, both recoil bolts, hammer, tang screw, front band & rear band keeper are all missing. Ladder rear sight. Blade front sight. Lower tang has Nepalese markings. Hardwood stock set w/ rear sling swivel. Ramrod present. A simple...more design of scales surrounds the Bbl. & three curved lines emanate from the breech end of the Bbl. on either side of the grips. There are 4 tiny legs on the bottom of the Bbl. CONDITION: metal is dark & discolored w/ scattered dings, impact marks & pitting. Bore is poor, dark & dirty. PROVENANCE: From the Lifelong Collection of Glen E. Mattox. (01-22462/CW). EARLY 19th CENTURY MIDDLE EASTERN CAMEL GUN &

BIPOD. Cal. 60. NSN. Bbl. 41 1/2". Octagon barrel flared at the muzzle with a small copper blade sight. 8 Small brass bands attach the barrel to the stock. The touch hole...more appears to possibly be re-bushed. The lock is a good fit but may not be original to the musket. There is the remains of a British East India Company lion just in front of the cock. Iron trigger guard, sling swivels & attached bipod. The buttcap appears to be carved bone with a small copper repair at the top left. The classic Middle Eastern stock has significant wear at the wrist with missing wire inlays. There are several sheet brass repairs to the barrel channel. Iron ramrod. Bipod is obviously a later addition but appears to have been there for a century. CONDITION: barrel has a dark, mottled patina as does the lock. Lock is tight but hold both full & half cock. Other metal parts have a similar dark oxidized patina. The stock has numerous small chips & cracks with losses & repairs at the barrel channel. Poor bore. (01-23564/BF). $400-600.
