Cal. 54. NSN. Bbl. 8 1/2". Brass blade front sight. Appears to be an assembled piece w/ lock likely from an 1842 Springfield musket. Rear of lock marked "SPRINGFIELD/1852...more". Center of lock has "(Eagle)/US" marking. Hammer is replaced, it has floral engraving & has no half cock. A tag is present that states this gun was Confederate repaired but this cataloger cannot prove that claim. Upper tang & bbl. markings are indiscernible. Brass bottom metal, sideplate & grip cap. Walnut stock w/ ramrod. CONDITION: sanded stock shows scattered cracks, modern putty repairs, chipping & handling wear. Brass parts are a dull yellow w/ scattered oxidation & dings. Balance of metal is a dull gray patina w/ scattered oxidation, dings & pitting. Oxidized bore. (01-23640/MJC). ANTIQUE. $400-800.

1829 DATED MODEL 1826 SIMEON NORTH FLINTLOCK NAVAL

CONTRACT PISTOL. Cal. 54. NSN. The last military contract pistol by Simeon North, 3000 pistols were delivered to Brooklyn Navy Yard 1827-1829. Standard configuration with...more 8 5/8" barrel proofed “US / AH / P”. (Asabel Hubbard-inspector). Lock is convex at tail, beveled flat forward of cock, dated “1827” & “US / S. NORTH”, 3" belt hook. A vast majority of survivors were converted to percussion like this example and reconverted back to flint configuration for collectors. CONDITION: good overall, smooth dark iron patina, reconversion back to flintlock utilizing new cock & frizzen spring, stock sound with inset repair on bottom, no visible cartouche. BROOKLYN ARMS CO. SLOCUM REVOLVER.

Lot # 3079 (Sale Order: 79 of 461)      

REVOLVER. Cal. 32 RF. S# 1558. Bbl 3". Slocum revolver manufactured by Brooklyn Arms Co. between 1863-1864. The barrel is stamped "B A Co PATENT APRIL 14TH 1863" over the...more top. Brass frame exhibits double line borders with scroll engraved motifs on either side of the frame. Frame is mounted with 2 piece smooth wood grips. Matching assembly number "86" is present on the frame (beneath the right grip panel), cylinder, barrel, and grips. Cylinder incorporates a unique design, in which each of the 5 chambers features a sliding sleeve. When reloading the operator slides the chamber sleeve forward, places a cartridge in the chamber slot, and then slides the sleeve back into position before rotating the cylinder to the next chamber. CONDITION: brass frame retains a mellow patina, with iron components exhibiting a mottled gray patina, with some scattered spots of pitting and darker discoloration. Bore is bright, with scattered dark spots of pitting and strong rifling throughout. Grips shoow some scattered handling marks, but are otherwise very good. (01-23935/MLW). ANTIQUE. $400-600.

RARE OLDENBURG MODEL 1849 "CYCLOPS" PERCUSSION

MUSKET. Cal. 70. S# 181. Bbl. 38". Brass blade front. Rare musket made in the German state of Oldenburg. Due to the unique center hammer this musket is nicknamed "CYCLOPS...more" by collectors. Purportedly these muskets were imported & used during the American Civil War. The muskets were used by the German Hanseatic League, a confederation consisting of Oldenburg, Bremen, Hamberg & Lubeck. The upper tang is marked w/ script "CRAUSE IN HERZBERG". The brass trigger guard is marked "3B4C/58". All visible numbered parts are matching to the bbl. number of "181". The left bbl. flat is marked "RR". Hardwood stock w/ front sling swivel & brass thimbles. Rear sling swivel is broken off & an iron ramrod is present. CONDITION: stock shows a few cracks along the forend, scattered chips, dings & handling wear. Brass parts are a dull yellow patina w/ scattered oxidation & some dings. Balance of metal is a dull gray patina w/ scattered tool marks on bbl. & oxidation throughout. Oxidized bore. (01-23805/MJC). ANTIQUE. $1000-1500.
