1) UNMARKED UNDERHAMMER. Cal. .36. S# 3535. Bbl 6". Iron bbl w/ 2" faceted breech section followed by a grooved collar and terminating in a 3 7/8" rounded section. Top of...more bbl / frame is stamped "3535". Smooth wood pistol grip w/ brass plate reinforcements. V-notch rear sight w/ remnant of a once slightly larger brass blade front sight. CONDITION: Iron components exhibit a mottled gray patina w/ spots of darker discoloration. Grip shows some scattered marks from handling and storage, but is otherwise sturdy and serviceable. (01-23516/MLW). 2) BRASS BARRLED BELGIAN. Cal. .69. S# NSN. Bbl 3 1/4". Belgian definitive proof on left side of frame with crown/ D proof on right. Iron frame, hammer, and trigger guard, w/ faceted brass bbl. Frame is mounted w/ a 1 piece smooth wood grip. Light foliate patterns engraved on either side of the frame, w/ a small starburst on the bottom of the trigger guard. CONDITION: Iron components a gray patina w/ areas of darker discoloration overall. Brass bbl exhibits a pleasing mellow patina. Grip shows some scattered handling marks, w/ a small crack present on the left and right sides. (01-23517/MLW). 3) DIMINUTIVE DA . Cal. .40. S# 168. Bbl 3 3/4". Right side of the faceted breech is bears a manufacturer marking w/ "CAST" above "WARRENTED" being the only distinguishable words. "168" on underside of bbl. Frame is mounted w/ 2 piece smooth wood grips. DA only action. CONDITION: metal components exhibit dark pitting overall w/ some losses on the rear grip strap. Grips show w/ a crack on the right panel and a loss to the rear panel. (01-23528/MLW). ALL ANTIQUE. $350-700.

PERIOD OFFICER'S INFANTRY HAT INSIGNIA. 1) M1872 militia shako with a Civil War period infantry horn on the front and infantry horn side buttons. The label is from Baker ...more& McKenney. CONDITION: poor with breaks & repairs. 2) M1872 militia shako with a 24th New York National Guard front plate & crossed rifles side buttons. The label is from Baker & McKenney. CONDITION: fair with losses & heat damage. 3) M1881 militia spike helmet with a front plate for the 7th New York National Guard with crossed rifles side buttons & a spike top. Label is from J.H. McKenney. CONDITION: very good with expected wear & minor staining. 4) This is likely a foreign military kepi of the 1880 period made over to resemble an American Civil War officer's cap. There is a reproduction infantry horn on the top of the hat with a central number “2” and a letter “K” is affixed to the front of the cap. CONDITION: moderate to heavy wear throughout. 5) A Civil War period gold bullion on velvet officer's infantry horn with the number “143” in false embroidered numbers in the center. 3 ORIGINAL CIVIL WAR ERA BELT BUCKLES & 1

REPRODUCTION. 1)SWORD BELT PLATE. An officer's grade M1851 sword belt plate with the original keeper. The plate shows a spread-wing American eagle with a rayed background...more and a separately applied silver laurel wreath. The reverse has a narrow tongue. The buckle is stamped “554”, and the keeper is stamped “94”, but the fit is quite good. CONDITION: light wear overall. 2)SWORD BELT PLATE. An enlisted grade M1851 sword belt plate with no keeper. The plate shows a spread-wing American eagle on pebbled background with a rayed top surrounded by an integral wreath of laurel. The reverse has a medium tongue and is stamped “73”. CONDITION: light wear overall. 3)US BUCKLE. A nice example of a Civil War period “US” oval belt buckle with spade hooks on the reverse. CONDITION: the buckle shows some indication of being excavated, or perhaps an early battlefield find. The face has a dark patina, and the reverse has oxide on the lead. 4)US BUCKLE. A small version of a reproduction “US” oval belt buckle, popular from the Mexican War to the dawn of the Civil War. Buckle has non-military loops on the reverse. CONDITION: 15% of the brass face is missing. The balance of the buckle shows moderate wear. PROVENANCE: From the Lifelong Collection of Glen E. Mattox. (02-18396/BF). $450-600.

3 CIVIL WAR IMAGES & A SPANISH AMERICAN WAR TIN

TYPE. 1) A quarter plate tintype of a Union Artillery Private in a 9-button frock coat with an 1851 sword belt plate & a cap box. The soldier is holding a musket with fix...moreed bayonet. He has a slouch hat with crossed cannons with a “6” above and an “H” below. The background is a camp scene with tents. The gilded brass frame & mat are mounted in 1/2 of a case. His pants are tinted light blue, and the buttons/insignia have been highlighted in gold. CONDITION: the plate itself shows some light creases with no other damage noted. 2) A ninth plate tintype of an enlisted cavalryman wearing a bummer's cap & shell jacket. The image shows his over-the-shoulder strap and he is grasping a cavalry saber in his right hand. Gilded brass mat & frame. CONDITION: the image is a bit oxidized, muting some of the contrast. 3) A CDV of Colonel John Talbot Pitman of the 9th & 11th Rhode Island Infantry. The view is full-standing with a double-breasted 14-button frock coat and kepi in his right hand. He wears an officer's sword belt rig and holds his foot officer's sword in his left hand. Interestingly, he appears to have a mourning band around his left arm. The back mark is “BRADY'S NATIONAL PHOTOGRAPHIC GALLERIES”. CONDITION: image is very slightly stained at the base and housed in a leucite holder. 4) A raw tintype of roughly sixth plate size depicting a Spanish American War era cavalry soldier with uniform pants, a blue shirt & khaki slouch hat. He appears to be wearing a sword on his left side and is leaning on a 45/70 caliber trapdoor carbine. CONDITION: image has wear & some oxidation. PROVENANCE: From the Lifelong Collection of Glen E. UNMARKED HALF-STOCK TARGET PERCUSSION SCHUETZEN

RIFLE. Cal. .45. S# NSN. Bbl 32 1/4". Lockplate is unmarked. Damcascus barrel appears to be stamped "DESTONES" at the breech, with part of the text being illegible. Left ...moreside of stock bears a German silver inlaid shield escutcheon that is engraved "D.W.". Full length heavy barrel featuring a globe front sight, with tang mounted aperture rear sight. Checkered wood half-stock featuring a small unmarked rectangular octagon German silver escutcheon, with a horn nose cap, as well as a schhuetzen pattern buttplate and trigger guard. Rifle retains what appears to be a proper period brass ramrod with wood knob end. CONDITION: Lockplate and cock retain mottled gray patina, with some areas of light pitting. Barrel exhibits moderat edge wear, with a couple small scattered spots of pitting, but is otherwise very good. Stock shows a some scattered handling marks, a few hairline cracks, as well as some losses along the right side of the barrel channel. Left half of horn nosecap is not present. An extremely attractive half-stock heavy barrel percussion target rifle. PROVENANCE: From the Lifelong Collection of Glen E. Mattox. (01-22503/MLW). ANTIQUE. $700-900.

KENTUCKY RIFLE. Cal. 40. NSN. 57” overall, 41.5” oct. smooth bore barrel signed in script “J J Henry”. Brass furniture, 3-piece pierced patchbox, 14 engraved bras...mores & German silver insets, engraved sideplate. Striped maple stock has incised scroll carving rear of cheek piece. An attractive rifle by well-known early 19th century family of Pennsylvania gunmakers. CONDITION: very good overall, iron patina, pitting and erosion on lock & breech, solid stock with one long sliver repair of forestock near right side muzzle, hairline crack on left wrist. Mechanics function, clear smooth bore. (01-22941/JS). ANTIQUE. $700-900.

INTERESTING “WM GARLAND 1813” SIGNED & DECORATED

LONG RIFLE. Cal. 40. NSN. Originally full stock flintlock rifle, 63” overall, 43.5” octagonal barrel with decorative design at muzzle and at breech forward of breech ...morefolky engraved “WMGARLAND 1813 / INWARNTED”. Full curly maple stock, iron patchbox, long iron toe plate & buttplate, iron triggerguard, long skinny wear plate integral to ramrod thimble, 3 brass ramrod pipes. This most unusual architecture also includes barrel tying extending to butt plate covering curvature of stock comb. This old Percussion conversion rifle certainly had a story to tell which unfortunately is lost to history. CONDITION: fair to good overall, appears mostly “as found”, uncleaned, dark patinas, Stock is grungy with hand worn patina, one pinned and glued repair below lock and crack at left wrist. Mechanics need attention, dirty rifled bore. (01-22942/JS). ANTIQUE. $700-900.

Cal. 62. S# 1. Bbl. 42" smoothbore, oct. to rnd. w/ two faceted transitions. High quality custom built modern muzzle loader modeled after the famous French fusil. Top fla...moret of bbl. has script marked name "Joel G S Gardner" & "MAKER". Left flat marked "No. 1". Lock has crown over fleur de lis marking & "TULLE". Bbl. & lock have a finely polished softened brown finish. Brass blade front sight. Pin fastened full length curly maple stock. Brass fittings included engraved buttplate, fancy pierced sideplate, faceted thimble & 2 faceted pipes. Relief carved ornamentation is found forward of lock & sideplate areas as well as around thimble. Mouldered borders are found around trigger guard & buttplate. Rear stock pin has raised acorn carvings that compliment raised diamonds behind lock & sideplate points. CONDITION: stock has very good original finish w/ some light handling wear. Metal retains 98% original browned finish. Very good bright bore. (01-23841/MJC). ANTIQUE. $700-900.
