1) SITTING BULL. An 18 3/4" x 25 3/4” framed poster from the Amon Carter Museum of Fort Worth, TX. The poster depicts a well-known view of Sitting Bull, or Tata’nka I’Yot...morea’nka, taken by David F. Barry around 1886. CONDITION: only handling wear. 2) TWO MOONS. A 13” x 16” framed photograph taken in 1901 of the Northern Cheyenne war Chief Two Moons on the Custer Battlefield. The photograph was taken on the 25th anniversary of the Custer Massacre at Little Bighorn. There are enumerable gravestones visible in the photograph. CONDITION: very light wear overall. 3) 3 MAIDENS. A 20 1/4" x 12” framed photograph by Herman Schnitzmeyer, taken in 1916. The scene depicts 3 Native American maidens, likely of the Pend d’Oreilles Tribe of the Northwest Plateau, in traditional Plains dress, on the rocks overlooking a raging river. He has 2 wrist cuffs and a large bag in front of him. Even his moccasins are visible. CONDITION: the image is slightly dark but exceptionally well detailed. The first 6 1/4" of the point is carved & d...moreecorated with white & red paint. 2) SPEAR. A 54 3/8" fishing spear likely African in origin. Bamboo shaft with a wooden tapered 17" point attached with rattan. The first 4 1/2" of the point is carved & decorated with white & red paint. Atop the carving is 6" of reverse pointed carvings to help hold the prey from escape. 3) SPEAR. A 48 1/2" fishing spear likely African in origin. Bamboo shaft with a wooden tapered 12" point attached with rattan. The first 6 1/2" of the point is carved & decorated with white paint. 4) SPEAR. A 54" hunting spear possibly African in origin. Wooden shaft with an iron 23 1/2" tip culminating in a 4 1/2" x 2" point. In back of the point is a 2 1/2" barb to prevent prey from escaping. The shaft was likely originally longer but appears broken on the end. 5) QUIVER/ARROWS. A 20" wooden or bamboo quiver with a leather base containing 9 iron tipped, bamboo shafted arrows averaging 27" in length. CONDITION: spears show light overall wear except as noted. Quiver & arrows show light to moderate wear with heavily oxidized points. 1 Shaft is missing its point. (02-17583/BF). $200-400.

Most of the shaft & the hand hold are carved in the shape of an alligator with an open mouth. 3) This wooden paddle has an overall length of 35 3/4". It has a paddle length of 11" on one end & a paddle length of 15 1/4" on the other end. Both paddles have simple lineal & geometric carvings. The center of the shaft has a 3" oval with a central piercing. 4) This wooden paddle has an overall length of 54" & a paddle length of 22 1/4". Paddle has 3 carved piercings & other lineal carved decoration. Most of the shaft & the hand hold are carved in the shape of an alligator with an open mouth. 5) This wooden paddle has an overall length of 56 5/8" & a paddle length of 26 1/2". Paddle has very intricately carved geometric motifs throughout & the hand hold also has carved decorative motifs. Paddle has some loss of wood on 1 side. 6) This wooden paddle has an overall length of 35". It has a paddle length of 16 1/2". The paddle has lineal carvings with a 4" central piercing. The hand hold has simple carvings & 2 piercings. The center of the shaft has a 2 7/8" oval with a central piercing. 7) A wooden club measuring 38 1/4". The 2 handed grip measures 18 1/4". The carved "blade" is carved with fanciful circular motifs & a human face on each side & at the base of the "edge". CONDITION: all items show light to moderate wear except as noted. Most of the paddle tips show slight chipping. (02-17584/BF). $300-500.
