Action is functional but sluggish when hand-cycled. Smooth walnut grips. CONDITION: grips show a couple chips, flaking vanish, dings, and handling wear. REVOLVER. Cal. 44. S# 55833. Bbl. 7 7/8". Model 1860 Army single action percussion revolver, mfg. by Colt in 1862. Address on top of the bbl. is no longer legible. Cyl. i...mores engraved with Colt's naval engagement scene. Brass trigger guard with a slotted iron rear grip strap. Frame is mounted with a 1-piece smooth wood grip. Original brass blade front sight has been ground down to a diminutive blade sight. All numbers are matching and include the frame, trigger guard, rear grip strap, cyl., cyl. base pin, bbl., as well as the bbl. wedge. CONDITION: metal components have been cleaned at one time, remaining "in the white," with scattered spots of surface oxidation and light to mild pitting present overall. Brass trigger guard exhibits a mottled brown patina. Very bright bore, exhibiting scattered spots of mild pitting while retaining strong rifling throughout. Action functions and cyl. indexes appropriately when cycled by hand. Grip shows some chipping at the front edges of the butt, as well as some scattered marks and impressions from handling and storage, but otherwise remains sturdy and serviceable. (01-25448/MLW). Cyl. is engraved with Colt's naval engagement scene. Brass trigger guard with a slotted iron rear grip strap. Frame is mounted with a 1-piece smooth wood grip. Brass blade front sight with hammer notched rear sight. Nearly all numbers are matching and include the frame, trigger guard, backstrap, cyl, cyl. base pin, and bbl. Bbl. wedge is mismatched, being numbered "2849". CONDITION: iron components exhibit a heavy gray-brown patina, with surface oxidation present overall. Brass trigger guard exhibits a mellow mottled patina. Bright bore, exhibiting scattered spots and areas of dark pitting while retaining strong rifling throughout. Action cycles appropriately, but the hammer does not lock into the half-cock or full-cock position. Special conversion number "1139" is present on the left side of the conversion breech plate, on the loading gate, as well as on the cyl. base pin. CONDITION: iron components retain traces of their original factory blue finish, with the balance exhibiting gray and brown patinas, with some spots of age-related discoloration, as well as scattered areas of light to mild surface oxidation and pitting overall. This was among the most popular cartridge revolver in the world at the time of the Civil War, several thousand wer...moree imported during the Civil War to both Union and Confederacy. This example has deluxe checkered varnished walnut grips & nicely engraved cylinder, frame, and grip strap. Parts to these revolvers are excavated in Confederate cavalry camps and skirmish areas showing they did see considerable service. Standard configuration, 6 3/8" barrel, patent cartouche on left side of frame. Cylinder is engraved in New York style shell motifs like frame, but with a different serial number; 12710. CONDITION: very good overall, complete and original though cylinder is mismatched number. Smooth gray patina, sharp edges, good markings, strong areas of original finish especially on cylinder, mechanically crisp, bright shiny rifled bore. Ebony bag grips are relief carved with floral designs. This is an interesting army sized variant based on LeFaucheux patent. BAYONET. Cal. 577, NSN. Standard configuration of the most common Confederate used longarm during the Civil War, 39" barrel, long range rear sight, "25" gauge markings si...moregnifying .577 caliber. "1862 / Tower" marked lock, 3 iron barrel bands, walnut stock and brass furniture. "J. BOURNE" stamped on belly of butt stock, probably stock contractor, no other markings in wood are easily discerned. CONDITION: very good overall, complete and original, missing front sling swivel, rear sling swivel has replaced screw, accompanying bayonet is for US Springfield, nipple protector with brass chain is good. Mechanically functional, barrel has been bored out to smooth bore. PROVENANCE: from the Lifelong Collection of Robert "Mike" Bricker. (01-24935/JS). ANTIQUE. $800-1,200.
