Standard configuration, 7" barrel, integral pinched semi rounded front sight. 6 shot scoop fluted cylinder, nickel, 2 piece ...moresmooth mother of pearl grips. These large frame SA revolvers are the scarcest of "Old West" pistols competing with Colt SAA & S&W in late 1870s. This example has the look of seeing use with original pair of pearl grips. CONDITION: fair to good overall, about 90% old nickel finish, markings weak, grips well fit with edge wear and small chips. Missing sliding button on bottom of frame to release barrel, and missing lanyard stud on butt. Mechanics need attention, cylinder rotates partially when cocked, will not hold full cock. Good discernible rifled bore. Right side of frame has a period inventory number CA00027, for unknown agency for Police Department. REVOLVER WITH HOLSTER. Cal. 44-40. S# 5944. Bbl. 4". Medium frame single action revolver mfg. by Merwin & Hulbert. Metal components exhibit a reapplied nickel plated fini...moresh, with all external markings, save for the S# on the butt, having been obliterated. Frame is mounted with a mottled orange hard rubber on the left, and a hand checkered wood grip on the right. Loading gate screw is absent. Bbl. has been shortened. Blade front sight with frame notched rear sight. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: brown leather holster that is fitted with a stamped silver plate, embellished with foliate patterns surrounding a side portrait of a horse head. CONDITION: metal components retain good amounts of their reapplied nickel plated finish, exhibiting wear and flaking overall that shows through to gray patina. Dark pitted bore, retaining poor rifling throughout. Action functions when cycled by hand, with the cyl. occasionally not rotating completely to the next chamber. Hard rubber grip exhibits a sizeable loss at the bottom right corner of the panel, with the wood grip exhibiting heavy smoothing and some impressions from handling and storage. Holster remains malleable, with the silver plate showing some creasing and warping along the edges. (01-25524/MLW). ANTIQUE. $400-600.

Left side of the bbl. is marked "COLT FRONTI...moreER SIX SHOOTER", with Colt's 2-line address marked across the top. Left side of the frame is marked with Colt's patent information, closely followed by the encircled Rampant Colt logo. Black powder frame exhibits a gray patina overall. Bbl., ejector rod housing, trigger guard, and rear grip strap exhibit a blue finish. Frame is mounted with 2-piece Colt logo checkered hard rubber grips. Standard SAA blade front sight with frame-notched rear sight. Matching numbers are present on the frame, trigger guard, and butt. Butt screw is a replacement. CONDITION: frame exhibits a gray patina, with areas of age-related discoloration as well as surface oxidation and pitting present overall. Blued components retain traces of their original factory blue finish (primarily in protected areas), with the balance exhibiting wear and thinning that shows through to gray and brown patinas, with surface oxidation present overall. Bore exhibits consistent moderate pitting while retaining strong rifling throughout. Action does not function when cycled by hand. Grips exhibit heavy smoothing and discoloration but otherwise remain sturdy and serviceable. (01-25451/MLW). ANTIQUE. $600-900.

Left side of the brass frame is marked "MY FRIEND PAT D....more DEC, 26, 1865" on the left side of the top strap. Sides of the frame exhibit scroll engraving, with a checkered shield engraved on the rear strap. Top strap and front face of the frame exhibit light decorative engraving. Full S# is present on the underside of the frame, with the 5-shot steel cyl. and the trigger (on the left side) matching via the last two digits "47". CONDITION: brass frame retains traces of its original silver-plated finish, with the balance retaining a pleasing mellow patina overall. Steel cyl. exhibits a gray patina as well as light pitting and oxidation overall. Chambers are bright, exhibiting some small scattered spots of pitting as well as some spots of old oxidation. CONDITION: inside of right grip panel shows large crack around screw hole, grips otherwise show scattered checkering wear, dings & handling marks. CONDITION: metal has been renickeled. Fair grips with worn finish & marks. Fair bore with pitting. Internal parts, screws & barrel pin are missing; unable to function. 2) J.M. MARLIN XXX STANDARD 1872, 4th VARIATION. Cal. 30 Short RF. S# 1629 (S# under grips, mfg. 1873-1876). Standard configuration with 3" barrel, 5 shot fluted cylinder & 2 piece bird's head hard rubber grips. CONDITION: metal has been renickeled. Good grips. Poor bore with pitting.
