Standard configuration of early 1863 made brass frame rifle, 14 shot integral ...moremagazine, "HENRY'S PAT. OCT.16. 1860 / MANUFACT'D BY THE NEW HAVEN ARMS. CO. NEW HAVEN. CT" roll stamped on top octagonal barrel flat. Rifle is in remarkable condition retaining most of its original finish. Rifle had been in Morrill family home for 6 generations, till sold in 1979 to David Condon. George Washington Morrill (1818-1886), his biography which has signed affidavit tells Morrill's history as anti-slavery politician and member of the underground railroad, industrialist, from prominent Massachusetts family. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: Copy of signed illustrated 3 page history of GW Morrill by James Morrill, 6th generation descendent. CONDITION: extremely fine, all original and matching, retaining 90% original blue finish to barrel, brass is smooth with staining, lever & hammer "uncleaned" with iron patina and light pitting, stock retains virtually all varnished finish, mechanics crisp, sharp rifled bore. Their full fiddle figure is highlighted by rich orange & brown tones w/ dark streaking. Stock & forend cap use original sling swivels. MFG. 1876. ACTION RIFLE WITH ACCOMPANYING MADIS LETTER. Cal. 44 HRF. S# 132113. bbl. 20" carbine style has King's Improvement marking. Mag band mounted front w/ carbine leaf rear si...moreght. Full length mag. Third model brass action is factory engraved. Sides feature scroll w/ punch dot backgrounds surrounding a Mexican eagle on the left sideplate w/. a shield in the vignette on the right sideplate. Complementary scroll extends to upper & lower action areas & the brass buttplate's peak. Lower tang bears the engravers signature "J.ULRICH". Band fastened forend & straight grip walnut stock. Inside of lower tang & top tang stock channel has assembly # "24". Inside toe of the brass trapdoor buttplate has assembly # "900". In his letter George Madis recalls observing other special M1866's with differing assembly numbers. UNATTACHED ACCESORIES: Handwritten 2 page letter from Geaorge Madis the author of "The Winchester Book". George states that he has carefully examined this carbine and "have determined that is is a factory engraved original Winchester." A Cody Firearms Records Office check states: "serial number application date not available / Type: Carbine / Received in warehouse on September 5, 1876 / Shipped from warehouse on December 16, 1876, Order number 7603". The 3 piece cleaning rod is held in the stock compartment. CONDITION: the metal has a smooth brown/gray appearance. The brass action shows a lightly mottled patina. Sanded & refinished stocks show dents & marks. Left side of forend has long crack. Lightly pitted bore has worn rifling. (01-25895/DS). ANTIQUE: $8,000-12,000.

Early first model action has mortised dust cover w/ fina...morelly checkered raised oval thumb piece. Single set trigger. Full length mag. Walnut forearm & stock w/ crescent steel buttplate. Mfg. 1874. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: letter from Wendell Grangaard from the Guns of History, Inc. Wendell examined this rifle & interpreted the Togia markings as showing the rifle was owned by "Wounded Hand", a wealthy member of the Minneconjou Sioux. Wendell has included drawings he observed along w/ information from the Cody Museum. This information confirms the features & shows the rifle to be received in the warehouse on June 15th, 1874 & shipped on June 25th, 1874 to order no. 1561. Circular brass tag attached to the rifle is marked "WH" on one side & "126" on the other. CONDITION: metal shows a pleasing brown patina appearance. The wood shows heavy wear w/ small chips around the top tang having large dents & chips on the forearm. Sound mechanics. Bore has a dark lightly frosted appearance w/ sound rifling. CONDITION: Metal shows general surface rust. Forearm shows heavy wear & dents w/ full length crack at bottom. Broken stock is secured by lace fastened rawhide covering. Action has rough function. Walnut forend & st...moreraight grip stock w/ crescent steel buttplate. Mfg. 1898. CONDTION: nice looking original rifle. Bbl & action have 80% dull blue showing edge wear w/ scattered spotting from corrosion. Sides of hammer show visible case colors. Hammer & buttplate have traces of case colors. Original wood finish shows areas of wear having numerous scratches, marks & small dents. Sound mechanics. Inside mag tube is intact. Bore has a dark frosted appearance w/ worn rifling. (01-25983/DS). Forend ...more& straight stock of uncheckered fancy black walnut have extensive burl grain. Crescent steel buttplate. UNATTACHEC ACCESORIES: Cody Firearms Museum letter stating: "Type: Rifle / Caliber: 32 / Barrel Type: Octagon / Trigger: Plain / Fancy stock / Sights Grad peep and Beach / Received in warehouse on March 10,1883 / Shipped from warehouse on March 16, 1883, Order number 2853." CONDITION. bbl. has 50% dull faded blue. Action retains 20% lightly visible case colors w/ balance fading to silver/gray showing areas of corrosion. Sanded wood has good refinish. Sound mechanics. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: letter from the Cody Firearms Museum detailing the following information, "Rifle / 22 caliber / Barrel Shape: Octagon / Plain trigger / Sales / Received in warehouse on February 14, 1885 / Shipped from warehouse on February 14, 1885, order number 10818". CONDITION: metal finish has faded to an even brown w/ general light pitting on action. Wood shows wear w/ numerous scratches, marks & gouges. Dark pitted bore w/ worn rifling. LEVER ACTION RIFLE. Cal. 22 Short. S# 160950A. Bbl. 24" octagon. Original sporting sights. Full length tubular mag. Action has the scarce tapered pin for takedown. The ta...morekedown feature was found to be inadequate & many bbls. are permanently fixed w/ the pin. Walnut forearm & straight grip stock w/ crescent steel buttplate. Mfg. 1884. Approx. 1 in every 350 model 1873s were 22 cal. CONDITION: bbl. & mag. tube retain 70% dull lightly faded blue. Action has largely faded to gray w/ small dents around the takedown pin. Wood has moderately worn original finish showing numerous scratches, marks & small dents. Dark lightly pitted bore w/ worn rifling. (01-24845/DS). ANTIQUE. $2,500-3,500.

Mfg. 1886. CONDITION. Bbl & mag tube retain over 90% blue showing slight edge wear. Action has over 50% blue w/ flaking & areas of corrosion. Sides of hammer & lever show good case colors. Buttplate, forend cap & mag band have a faded gray appearance. Wood has worn original finish w/ scratches, marks & dents. Sound action. Lightly pitted bore retains intact rifling. (01-25987/DS). ANTIQUE. $3800-5000.
