Type 13 style 5" bbl. WWII Colt slide with two tone parkerized finish having Type C front & rear sight plus replacement extractor. Frame has finger clearance cuts & "WTG" inspector initials. "H" provisional acceptable mark on frame & slide. Slide doe not have S# beneath firing pin plate. MAGS: 2 two tone 7 rd. UNATTACHED ACCESORIES: repro. 1911A1 box. CONDITION: Exterior surfaces of pistol has reblued finish showing scratches, wear & marks. Firing pin plate has unusually tight fit to slide. SUPERB COLT MODEL 1911A1 SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL,

FROM 1942. Cal. 45 ACP. S# 848050. Bbl. 5". Although Colt was the second largest manufacturer of 1911A1 pistols during WWII, everyone likes Colts! This standard configura...moretion example has the standard 2-line address on the left side of the slide, referencing Colt's patent numbers, interrupted by a Rampant Colt, followed by Colt's address in Hartford, CT. The right side of the frame is marked "UNITED STATES PROPERTY M1911 A1 U.S. ARMY" over the S# "848050". "P" inspection marking on the top of slide and left side of frame, along with the ordnance wheel on the right side of the frame, and the inspector "W.B." enclosed in a rectangle on the left frame above the trigger cutout. Fitted with correct brown plastic grips with the large reinforcement rings around the screw heads and internal ribs, and a standard blued mag. with 5 indicator holes marked with an "R" on the top of the toe, with a "C-P" on the underside of the toe. Disassembly shows a Colt bbl. with a "P" on the left lug below the denomination "COLT 45 AUTO". A "G" is in front of the lug. MAGS: 1 7-rd. CONDITION: 99%+ original light parkerized finish. Although none of the "P" markings or the ordnance wheel seems to break the finish, the corner of the "W.B." box is in-the-white. Condition of the grips are comparable to the rest of the pistol. Excellent mag. showing only minor insertional wear. A great looking and all original Colt 1911A1 from WWII! PROVENANCE: The Collection of Edward Scott Meadows. (24-702/LMA). CURIO. $3,000-4,500.

MAGS: 1 incorrect two-tone 7 rd. mag. with commercial markings "COLT / 45 AUTO." Clawson, this pistol was originally purchased as...more part of Contract No. U.S. 1139-MM67, dated January 2, 1918; this pistol was delivered approx. between Sept. 10, 1918, and March 11, 1919. Left side of the frame and slide have Colt factory "crossed pennant" proofs. Left side of the frame has the "R.A.F" proof (the "A" double stamped), broad arrow, and "crown over G2 over A" G. W. R. Stedman, British Army Inspector of Small Arms, proof. Colt Government model commercial features, including a replacement 5" Colt commercial barrel marked "BNP .45 .900 / 7 TONS PER"; markings mandated by the Proof Act of 1955. Right side of the slides has an added Birmingham proof over a second "5" in the caliber marking. Two-piece double-diamond-checkered walnut grips. MAGS: 1 two-tone 7-rd. with lanyard loop marked "455 / ELEY". CONDITION: frame and slides have a fair original blue finish showing faded blue mixed with patina and marks. SN. 72571. Cal. 45ACP. Springfield Armory made 25,767 pistols between 1914-17, this example, with early short spur hammer, being THE FIRST PISTOL DELIVERED TO THE MILITAR...moreY! Well referenced/documented in the book U.S. Military Automatic Pistols, 1894-1920, by E. Scott Meadows on page 189, 193 and 194. The left side of the slide was marked with a reference to Colt’s patent address followed by a bold “SPRINGFIELD ARMORY / U.S.A.” The left frame was marked with” UNITED STATES PROPERTY” and an ordnance bomb just above the push button magazine release. The right side of the slide had the Springfield Eagle logo followed by “MODEL OF 1911. U. S. ARMY. On the right frame is SN: 72571. Fitted with checkered walnut panels having prominent diamond panels and a correct dual tone magazine folded over base with lanyard loop. Field stripping showed an “S” marked barrel, barrel bushing, slide stop, hammer, and firing pin stop. CONDITION: 99+% as professionally restored with flat planes and crisp lettering. Comparable condition grips and excellent original finish magazine. Dull bore with fouled grooves. Perfect manual mechanics. Left side of slide with the usual patent markings followed by Springfield Armory address. Right side of slide with eagle logo suffixed by "MODEL OF 1911.U.S.ARMY.". Frame marked "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" (left) along with serial number 74346" (right). Flaming bomb inspection markings on left side of slide, behind serrations, and repeated on left side of frame. Beavertail spur hammer with checkering to rear edge. Fitted with checkered wood panels with diamonds around screws and correct magazines with folded base and lanyard loop. Disassembly shows a "S" marked slide stop, bbl. bushing, and bbl. (on left side of lug). Further disassembly not effected beyond field stripping. MAGS: 2 7-rd. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: complete with craft shipping box with photocopied background material and spare mag. CONDITION: very good plus with the slide having at least 98% of its original finish. Frame with sharp edge wear and thinning under the trigger guard, and especially over the front strap. Slide stop and both grip screws on the left panel have been enhanced. Crisp original grips. Both magazines, primary and spare, VG-EXC with vivid hardening lines. Bright bore, with sharp rifling. Correct manual mechanics. Corr...moreect features include: SA 5" Type 11 barrel without "S" proof on the right side of the barrel lug; Type 1 double diamond checkered walnut grips; Type C long hammer; Type B safety lock tab; Type A slide lock; short tang grip safety; Type 1 mainspring housing; Type 2 mainspring housing pin; long 1911 trigger; Type C mag. release lock; Type 3 recoil spring plug; Type B recoil spring guide; Type A front sight; and Type B rear sight. Soft blued pistol with a sharp Springfield Armory Ordnance Bomb on the left side. MAGS: 1 Springfield Armory 7 rd., two-tone, with brass section near top of spine and lanyard loop on baseplate. Mag. has a fair finish with patina. CONDITION: fine. The exterior blue finish is very good overall, showing edge wear, scattered peppery oxidation, and wear commensurate with cycling, assembly, and handling. Top of the slide near the rear sight has an area of small marks. Front grip strap and mainspring housing show finish loss from handling, mixed with patina and pinprick oxidation. In 1917, Springfield Armory requested from Colt 2,130 serial numbers set aside for replacement frames; these were within serial ...morenumbers 210,387–215,386. Springfield Armory utilized these frames to assemble pistols as required. This practice is referenced in "U.S. MILITARY AUTOMATIC PISTOLS 1894–1920" by Scott Edward Meadows and "Collector's Guide to Colt .45 Service Pistols" by Charles Clawson. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: tags from the consignor about the pistol and holster showing a purchase date of June 17, 1986. WWII-era H. Mosser Model 1916 Russett holster with "The Lift Doft" retention. Good Russett leather showing scattered scratches and marks, along with a large scuff on the back of the holster. Small brass parts show verdigris. CONDITION: slide has a fair, faded blue finish showing edge wear and cycling wear, along with several dents on top of the slide. Frame has large portions of brush-blued original finish mixed with a gray and brown patina appearance on the bottom of the frame, the front strap, the mainspring housing, and portions of the frame under the grips. Frame has a proud fit on the slide. Good walnut grips showing scratches and marks; the right panel is snug in the bushing. Mainspring housing pin has a concave end that is flattened. Barrel has traces of blue in areas of contact with the slide and ejection port area, with the balance being very good; the bore shows light pitting and frosting with strong lands. FANTASTIC ITHACA MODEL 1911A1 SEMI-AUTOMATIC

PISTOL. Cal. 45 ACP. S# 1829515. Bbl. 5". Model 1911A1 mfg. by Ithaca in 1944. This is a classic U.S. military semi-automatic pistol from WWII, a common gun, but in extra...moreordinary condition. Left side of slide with the 2-line address reflecting the manufacturer and its location in Ithaca, NY. Right side of frame is marked "UNITED STATES PROPERTY M1911 A1 U.S. ARMY" above the S# "1829515". Top of the slide and left side of the frame are marked with the usual "P" proofs, breaking the finish to show the white metal underneath. The right side of the frame is marked with the ordnance wheel, again breaking the finish. "FJA" inspector marking on the left side of the frame behind the trigger cutout. Disassembly shows a correct Hi Standard bbl. with a "P" on the left side of the lug and a "HS" on the right side of the lug. Fitted with late brown plastic grips, having screw head reinforcements and a standard blued mag. with 5 indicator holes and a toe marked "R" on its upper surface. MAGS: 1 7-rd. CONDITION: spectacular 99%+ original pistol with mirror bore. Comparable condition grips and mag. A great 1911A1, that would be virtually impossible to improve upon.
