SCARCE US SPRINGFIELD M1C SEMI-AUTO MILITARY

SNIPER RIFLE. Cal. 30-06. S# 3638613. Bbl. 24" marked w/ "S-A-5-52" & inverted "P" proof. Throat gauges 2.0. Muzzle gauges 1.0. "T105E1" Aperture rear sight. Blade front ...moresight w/ protective ears. The M1C sniper rifle was developed in the later part of WWII & saw service mostly in the Pacific Theater toward the close of the war. This example has a receiver drawing no. "D28291 35" which is in the correct range for these scarce rifles. Receiver fitted w/ Griffin & Howe side mt. Mount's S# on the left side does not match the rifle. Non matching but correct WWII vintage steel slide w/ slant cut scope rings. Rifle is equipped with a M82 telescope mfg. by Lyman Gun Sight Co. & was mfg. post 1948 as it has the newer style federal stock no. "F001-0084688". This scope utilizes a .875" diameter tube & is equipped w/ a vertical post w/out crosshair. Serial no. "43870". The drawing numbers appear in the correct locations on the eyepiece, adjustment mt. & dust caps. Scope is equipped w/ sliding sun shield & rubber eye cup. The S# on the blued steel slide does not match the rifle. The slide is equipped w/ the earlier type rounded & checkered levers. The slide is marked on top w/ "GRIFFIN & HOWE INC. NEW YORK / PAT. 1,856,549 MAY 3, 1932". All major parts markings except the 1962 dated replacement bbl. are "SA" including the mill trigger guard w/ drawing #. High Hump gas cyl. lock & cross slot gas cyl lock screw. Walnut stock set, buttstock (which is also a replacement) is marked on the left side w/ the defense acceptance eagle & marked under grip w/ encircled "P" proof. Stock is equipped w/ a brown leather lace on cheek piece having 2 brass attaching screws. Cheek piece is marked on left side w/ "line". The balance of the marking is illegible. Unmarked green web sling. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: cone type flash hider marked "HIDER FLASH M2". Cleaning kit & plastic oiler w/ cleaning rod handle in butt. CONDITION: stock set has crisp markings w/ light to moderate wear & scattered handling marks. Cheekpiece has wear & scuffing w/ verdigris on brass parts. Metal parts retain a high degree of original parkerized finish w/ light wear & thinning. S# enhanced w/ white. Telescope has a worn thinning, greenish gray parkerized finish. Optics appear cloudy but serviceable. Slide has 60% original worn thinning finish. Very good shiny bore w/ sharp lands. PROVANANCE: from the Estate Collection of Thomas J. Mulligan. (23-1229/RW). SCARCE AND DESIRABLE KOREAN WAR ERA USMC

SPRINGFIELD MC1 SEMI-AUTO MILITARY SNIPER RIFLE. Cal. 30-06. S# 3717226. Bbl. 24". Marked on right side "LMR B6535448 10 53A23P M" w/ faint crossed cannons. Throat & muzz...morele gauge 1.0. "T105E1" Aperture rear sight. Blade front sight w/ protective ears. Sight ears have been modified to a more flared profile. In 1952 the United States Marine Corps refurbished a number of M1C Sniper rifles & fitted them w/ Stith-Kollmorgen 4X telescopic sights. A number were converted by Springfield Armory but some were done by Marine Corp. armorers. This example has a receiver drawing # D28291 35 which is the correct range. The sight base has a S# at the bottom which does not match the rifle & the mt. screws appear to have been removed & replaced. The slide is marked on top w/ the early "GRIFFIN & HOWE INC. NEW YORK PAT. #1,856,549 MAY 3, 1932.". The slide has been refitted w/ the later triangular locking levers plus the scope rings are split vertically & have allen head screws. The telescope is marked at the rear "4X DOUBLE KOLLMORGEN OPTICAL CORP. BROOKLYN, N.Y. PAT. PEND." Scope is marked on top w/ "MO 1287-P". The scope has a black finish & a fine crosshair reticle w/ a 1.025" tube. Equipped w/ Storm Queen scope caps. All major rifle parts' markings are "SA". Milled trigger guard. High hump gas cyl. lock & single slot gas cyl. lock screw. Walnut stock set. Replacement buttstock is marked only w/ encircled "P" proof under grip & boxed "P" proof at end of grip. Stock is equipped w/ lace on tan leather cheek pad which also has 2 brass attaching screws. Pad is marked on left side "MRT10 52". Tan leather sling w/ steel hooks. Well-worn sling has illegible U.S. military markings. One keeper is detached but present. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: cone type flash hider marked "SA HIDER FLASH M-2". Cleaning rod in buttstock. CONDITION: stock set has light wear staining & scattered handling marks retaining a good appearance. Vintage arsenal rework parkerized finish has thinning & light wear. Assembled to M-1C sniper configuration using a rifle in the correct serial number range, and using a reproduction M-84 telescopic sight. The scope bracket is attached using hollow ended screws which are not staked. The bracket is serial numbered to match the rifle using individual numbered stamps. The slide and rings for the scope are blued steel and unmarked. The replica M-84 scope has a 7/8" tube and is marked on the nomenclature plate " TELESCOPE M84 SERIAL NO. 32294". The sliding sun shade is present. The rubber eye cup is not present. Untapered post reticle with horizontal cross hair. All visible parts markings except sight knobs are "SA". Milled trigger guard. Non-matching Walnut stock set. Buttstock has boxed "SP G" overhaul mark on the left side in cheek area. Circle "P" proof under grip. Green web sling. UNNATTCHED ACCESSORIES: cleaning kit with handle, chamber brush and plastic oiler which contains " pull-through". CONDITION: stock set has well worn original finish with staining and handling marks. Metal retains a large degree of arsenal rework finish with light wear. Scope retains most of its blue finish. Optics appear clear and serviceable. Very good shiny bore. Blade front si...moreght w/ protective ears. Rifle is likely assembled using a receiver which was originally fitted w/ a M1C Griffin & Howe base which is serial numbered to match the rifle. The base shows evidence that it has been removed from the rifle & the screws re staked. The M84 telescope has been installed using a blued steel reproduction slide which is unmarked. The M84 telescope S# "40358" has a post & crosshair reticle plus features a correct rubber eye cup & sliding metal sunshade. The square hinged cover for the windage knob is not present. All major rifle components are marked "SA". Walnut stock set. Buttstock has been given an arsenal rework type finish. Hand guards appear to be replacements. Buttstock is fitted w/ a leather lace on cheek pad which is additionally fastened w/ rnd. head brass screws. Pad is marked "MRT 10-52". Green web sling. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: cone type flash hider marked "HIDER FLASH M2 B HART MFG CO.". Cleaning kit & plastic oiler in butt. CONDITION: stock set has light wear, staining & handling marks. Buttstock has several flecks of white paint. Metal has arsenal rework type parkerization w/ very light wear & handling marks. Receiver markings are enhanced w/ white. US SPRINGFIELD M1D SEMI-AUTO MILITARY RIFLE WITH

WEAVER TELESCOPIC SIGHT. Cal. 30-06. S# 2562529. Bbl. 24" marked on right side "S-A-10-52" & "P" proof. Throat gauges 2.0. Muzzle gauges 1.0. "T105E1" Aperture rear sight...more. Blade front sight w/ protective ears. The M1D Sniper rifle was developed at the same time as the M1C but not put into production until Jan., 1951. The M1D scope mt. system was developed by the late John Garand. This rifle appears to be in the configuration of a batch of M1D rifles equipped w/ Weaver K4 Series 60B 4X telescopic sights ordered in 1964 for use in Viet Nam. The scopes & brackets to fit the 1" tube were ordered from International Armament Corporation. However definite proof that this is one of those rifles is not available. The mounting block on the rear of the bbl. has the alignment pin machine staked w/ four notches. The scope bracket has a different configuration from the original issue type. The thumb screw cap appears to be welded to the screw shank. The 2 socket head screws use a 3/32 inch wrench & screws are knurled on the outer edge. The scope w/ its blued steel tube is marked at the top rear "WEAVER K4 60-B / EL PASO TEX. U.S.A. PAT. PEND.". Scope is equipped w/ tapered post & crosshair reticle. Balance of major rifle parts are marked "SA" except for the "WRA" marked trigger housing. Prong type flash suppressor replaces gas cyl. lock. Cross slot gas cyl. lock screw. Unmarked replacement walnut stock set. Buttstock has tan leather lace on cheek pad w/ 2 brass screws marked on right side "MRT2 52". Additional screw hole is visible in belly of stock at end of pistol grip. Green web sling. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: cleaning kit & plastic oiler in butt. CONDITION: stock set has very good appearance w/ light wear & sm. scattered handling marks. Leather cheek pad has very light wear & staining. Metal retains 75% arsenal rework parkerized finish w/ thinning & light wear. Scope mt. has a lg. degree of it's parkerized finish w/ light wear. Scope retains 75% of it's blued finish w/ wear, scratches & handling marks. Optics appear clear & serviceable. Bore has worn lands turning dark in grooves. Windage & elevation knobs have hinged square covers & adjustment base is numbered underneath "7667424". Straight post w/ crosshair reticle. All major rifle parts are marked "SA". Stamped trigger guard. Walnut stock set. Buttstock is marked under grip w/ faint encircled "P" proof & arsenal rework "P" proof. Tan leather lace on cheek pad marked "MRT 2/52" Brass attaching screws were not installed. Green nylon Viet Nam era sling. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: cone type flash hider marked "SA HIDER FLASH M2". Cleaning kit & grease cup in butt. CONDITION: rifle appears to have an arsenal rework type restoration leaving the wood w/ a thin finish & slight loss of wood in inletted areas. There are spots of original finish showing on the right side of the stock. The metal has an arsenal rework gray parkerized finish w/ very light wear & scattered handling marks. HIGHLY DESIREABLE US NAVY MK2 MOD 1 GRADE B 7.62

NATO M-1 GARAND SEMI AUTO MATCH RIFLE. Cal. 7.62 Nato. S# 3546971. Bbl. 24". These U.S. Navy M-1 Garand rifles were converted to 7.62 NATO in the mid 1960's. Attempts wer...moree made to do this with a bushing in the chamber but this was not satisfactory and the solution was a newly manufactured barrel in the 7.62 NATO caliber. The rifles were now re designated Mark 2 Mod. 1 and according to "The M1 Garand Rifle" by Bruce Canfield 1,869 of these rifles were accurized by the Navy for match competition. Only a very sm. percentage met the rigid standards & were designated "A". The balance were designated "B" but still remained an extremely accurate competition rifle. A number of these rifles were awarded as trophies to distinguished Navy shooters. The bbl. of this rifle is marked "7.62 MM" "SA" "11688514" "3 66" "MD61" "P" proof plus "Defense acceptance "eagle". The accompanying "Weapon Record Book" lists this barrel as installed new in March 1983. The rear sight has non hooded aperture marked "NM' & "595". The base is unmarked. The windage knob has "arrow W" logo. The front sight is marked "57" on the right side. The op rod is marked "NM" and"RA". The "SA" marked bolt has an electro penciled "88" on the top right rear w/ "6971' underneath. The trigger housing & hammer are "SA" and "6971" is on floor plate. The contacting surfaces have been lightly polished. The gas cyl. is marked w/ "W" behind stacking swivel. Gas cyl. lock is finished bright & has red painted spot on right side. Unmarked single slot gas cyl. lock screw. Hardwood stock set has a bleached appearance w/ dark streaks & a glossy finish. Mixed stock wood types can be considered correct on these rifles. The buttstock has the correct "B" at the end of the grip. The stock has been numbered to match at top right rear under receiver. The stock & handguards have been match conditioned w/ extensive areas of brown bedding compound. Rear handguard has been shortened plus both guards & the bbl. are bedded into a solid unit. Front handguard has metal liner removed. Stacking swivel does not move. Tan leather model 1907 sling marked "MRT 12-86". UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: The rifle has a hang tag marked "RIFLE CAL 7.62 MK 2 M 1 GR B 1005-00-148-6524" dated MAR 7 1983 w/ matching S#. A tag with S# "FOR: WEAPONS OFFICER OR CUSTODIAN" dated "MAR 7 1983" plus a "WEAPON RECORD BOOK" recording the barrel change. Cleaning kit & plastic oiler in butt trap. CONDITION: Stock set has very light wear and handling marks. Metal retains a very large percentage of its parkerized finish with very light wear and handling marks.
