SCARCE SWEDISH 1870 ROLLING BLOCK CAVALRY CARBINE.

Cal. 12.17x44. S# 1469. Bbl. 18". Matching numbers on frame, bbl., nosecap & buttplate. Blade front sight w/ protective ears. Ladder rear sight graduated to 700yds. Right...more side of frame has Carl Gustaf crown marking & 1877 date. Left side of frame has "J.P." & "N.W." inspectors stamps. Left side of frame has saddle bar & ring. Appears to be converted to centerfire. Hardwood stock set w/ left side having a filled in area where a unit disc once was, a filled in sling hole on toeline & another vacant sling stud hole on toeline. Forend has a vacant hole on both sides about 3 1/2" behind nosecap. CONDITION: stock set has arsenal reworked finish w/ scattered dings & handling marks. Action is a dull gray patina w/ overall oxidation & some light pitting. Bbl. is turning to a dull gray w/ strong traces of arsenal blue & scattered oxidation. Bore has scattered pitting but strong rifling. (01-23168/MJC). ANTIQUE. $1500-2000.

NORWEGIAN M28 JARMANN HARPOON RIFLE.

Lot # 1274 (Sale Order: 277 of 696)      

Cal. 10.15x61R. S# 15803 All visible numbers match. Bbl. 19 1/4". Kongsberg Vapenfabrikk developed the M28 Harpoon rifle around 1911 from the Model 1884 Jarmann service r...moreifle for hunting large fish and marine mammals such as seals, as well as for throwing lines in rescue work. The rifles were shortened, the repeating mechanism was changed to single shot and this rifle in particular has an added heavy steel buttplate app. 1" thick as well as a thick rubber slip-on recoil pad. The rifling was left in place and the rifle was able to continue to be used with its original cartridge. The receiver is marked on the left side w/ "S" and S#. The hardwood stock has a sporter configuration which includes coarse checkering added in the grip area and has been fitted with brass plates on each side of the forend with a transverse hole to accommodate a yoke type mount. The sights consist of the notch in the bolt sleeve at the rear and an added brass blade at the front. Various types of harpoons were available including hunting harpoons, rescue harpoons & rocket assisted harpoons. the harpoon lines were available in various lengths packed in special crates. The launching cartridges for the harpoons were mfg. into the 1970s. A hunting type harpoon accompanies this rifle which measures 23 1/4" overall. It has a quadrangular shaped tip w/ 2-3" folding barbs attached. The harpoon is also equipped w/ a cable attachment. Rubber buttpad is present. CONDITION: stock has extensive wear, staining & handling marks commensurate w/ heavy use in harsh environments. There is a crack in the grip area on the left side extending into the checkering. Sm. crack on top behind receiver tang. Notable spot of missing checkering on the right side. Brass plate has somewhat crudely fitted appearance & was likely an addition to the rifle. The metal has turned gray & patina throughout w/ moderate wear, oxidation & fine scattered pitting. Bore has heavily worn riffling which would be expected by the firing of steel rods & is turning dark w/ scattered pitting. (01-24179/RW). ANTIQUE. $1,000-1,500.

71/84 MAUSER BOLT ACTION RIFLE USED IN THE MOVIE

"THE LAST SAMURAI". Cal. 11mm Mauser. S# 8908. Bbl. 31 1/2". Matching numbers on receiver, bbl., mag cutoff rear sight & front sight. Other parts are mismatched. Ladder r...moreear sight graduated to 1500m. Blade front sight. This rifle was one of approx. rebuilt by the Gibbs Rifle Co. & used in the famous Tom Cruise movie "The Last Samurai". In the film the Imperial Japanese army used 71/84 rifles. As part of the Gibbs rebuild program trigger guards were spray painted gold, receivers were polished, blued parts refinished, the firing mechanisms were reactivated to fire blanks & newly made stocks were created. The two rear bands are a bit loose. Beech stock set w/ bottom mounted sling swivels & leather sling. Stock has newly added cartouches. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: Gibbs Rifle Co. certificate of authenticity detailing the rifles rebuild, movie use & history from Val Forgett. CONDITION: stock has added varnish w/ several long cracks behind nosecap, scattered scratches, dings & handling wear. Bottom metal is turning silver w/ strong traces of gold paint, scattered pitting & oxidation. Receiver & bolt are turning gray w/ scattered oxidation & pitting. Bbl. & bands retain most of their dull reblue finish w/ scattered pitting beneath the bluing, some light dings & edge wear. Bore has a ring near muzzle & scattered pitting. (01-23452/MJC). Left side of frame sidepl...moreate is stamped "PATENT/ RAST & GASSER/ WIEN". Top strap bears an Austrian 1917 acceptance proof. Pommel is stamped "24" with a line over "21". Metal components are blued, with the frame being mounted with 2 piece checkered wood grips. Matching numbers are present on the frame, sideplate (interior), left grip panel (interior), cylinder, barrel, and ejector rod/cylinder pin lug. Dovetailed blade front sight with frame V-notch rear sight. CONDITION: metal components exhibit wear and thinning overall that shows through to a pleasant gray patina. Bright bore, exhibiting scattered areas of pitting and fair rifling throughout. Grips show some scattered marks from handling and storage, but are otherwise very good overall. WWII GERMAN CHAINED SS DAGGER.

Lot # 1282 (Sale Order: 285 of 696)      

Overall length: 14 9/16". This dagger is completely original but does have cross guards originally from an SA dagger. Blade is etched, "Meine Ehre Heisst Treue" on the fr...moreont and is unmarked on the reverse, as is correct. Nickel pommel and cross guard. Cross guard is marked, "FR" on the reverse indicating at some point in time this cross guard was on an SA dagger. Black wooden grip. Plated grip eagle with black SS button. Scabbard has plated mounts with a black anodized finish. The chain hanger is a type 1 variety and is marked with SS runes on the reverse of the first link in the top chain. CONDITION: blade has some staining & superficial pitting due to exposure to dampness. Cross guard and pommel are solid. Grip shows expected minor dents and dings. Scabbard shows good honest wear and retains 85% of its original finish. There are small dents in the knop at the tip of the scabbard. (02-18098/BF). $3,000-4,500.

Overall length: 14 11/16”. Blade is etched “Meine Ehre Heisst Treue”, and the reverse is marked “E.P. & S. (logo) SOLINGEN”. Nickel silver crossguard with an â€...moreœI” stamped on the reverse denoting group 1. Black wooden grip with black enameled SS button at the top and eagle inset in the grip. Nickel silver top guard & nut. Scabbard has nickel silver mounts with a black painted finish. Plated correct SS chain with the first top link marked “SS” on the reverse. This interesting dagger started life as a M1933 belonging to an enlisted man. He was likely promoted at a later date to 2nd Lieutenant and took his M1933 dagger and bought the chained scabbard of a M1936 dagger. PROVENANCE: From the Lifelong Collection of Glen E. Mattox. CONDITION: the blade is undamaged but appears to have been buffed to remove staining & light pitting. Crossguard & top guard show light wear. Grip has several tiny shallow dents and there is minor losses to the enameled button. Scabbard shows uniform light wear with some loss of finish to the scabbard body. Chain links have a dark tarnished patina. The wonderful thing about this dagger is that, despite being an upgraded M1933, the wear to the dagger & scabbard is the same, indicating this was done during its useful life in service of The Fuhrer. A NAVY HONOR ROLL CLASP. 1) A rare original Luftwaffe Honor Roll clasp on original Iron Cross ribbon. The gilded clasp features a Luftwaffe eagle surrounded by a wreath o...moref oak leaves. The reverse has 4 flat attachment pins which is correct. Clasp is mounted to an 11" length of Iron Cross ribbon. Clasp is housed in an incorrect post war black box. CONDITION: very light wear. 2) A rare original Navy Honor Roll clasp with original Iron cross ribbon. The gilded clasp features a Party symbol superimposed on an anchor all surrounded by oak leaves. The reverse has 4 round attachment pins which is correct. Clasp includes a 4 1/2" length of original ribbon but is not mounted to it. CONDITION: very light wear. (02-19037/BF). $2,500-2,900.

WWII GERMAN LUFTWAFFE TROPICAL SURVIVAL MACHETE.

A rare example of a survival machete issued to Luftwaffe personnel serving in tropical areas. Machetes like this were part of a survival kit that included flares, food, w...moreater, etc. Overall length: 21 3/4". Blade length: 16”. The plain blade swells towards the tip and is marked near the hilt “A W (logo) S Alcoso SOLINGEN”. S-shaped blued cross guard with blued pommel & side straps. 2-Piece wood grip secured by 2 screws with 8 serrations on each side. Iron scabbard is blued with frog stud in place. CONDITION: blade shows some staining, but no hard use. Blued finish is nearly 100% on the hilt, and the grips show only minor scuffs. The scabbard is in truly amazing condition with 99% of the blued finish intact. This is likely one of the finer examples known of this rare Third Reich edged weapon. 1) This is a presentation grade axe measuring approx. 17” in height with a 7 1/4" head. The plated head is completely etched in foliate & fire equipment motifs. There i...mores a large standing fireman holding a hose engraved on one side. The black wooden haft has an attached 4” plate that reads “In treuem Gedenked Unserem verehrten Brandmeister Herrn Alfred Wolbing Freiw. Feuerwehr Hersfeld I.Loschzug 1925.” The haft has 2 suspension rings with partial suspension straps and a plated buttcap. CONDITION: head shows no damage. Plate has a worn finish but is easily legible. Haft remains quite strong with most of the original finish. 2) This is a presentation grade axe measuring approx. 13 1/4” in height with a 7" head. The plated head is completely etched in foliate & fire equipment motifs. There is a large standing fireman holding a hose engraved on one side. The black wooden haft has an attached unengraved 3 1/4” plate. The haft has 2 suspension rings and a plated buttcap. CONDITION: head shows light surface wear. The remainder of the axe shows light overall wear. 3) This is a dress grade axe measuring approx. 14 1/4” in height with a 7" head. The plated head is unengraved. The black wooden haft has a plated buttcap. The axe is mounted in a leather frog for carrying on the belt. CONDITION: axe shows light wear overall. The frog has some separated stitches and is quite worn on the spike end. 4) This is a dress grade axe measuring approx. 13 1/2” in height with a 6 1/2" head. The plated head is unengraved. The black wooden haft has a plated buttcap. The axe is mounted in a leather frog for carrying on the belt. CONDITION: axe shows light to moderate wear overall. The frog is complete but the stitching has separated along the top. 5) This is a dress grade axe measuring approx. 15 3/8” in height with a 7 1/4" head. The plated head is unengraved. The light natural wood haft has a plated buttcap and 2 carrying rings near the head. There is a WWII German party symbol scratched into the wood that is of undetermined age. PRUSSIAN M1867 KURASSIER “LOBSTER TAIL” HELMET

WITH A LATER FIELD COVER. Helmet has a polished steel body with a 3-section “lobster tail” extending down the back to protect the neck. The helmet has a gilded brass ...morespike base with a steel spike top. The Prussian eagle front plate is gilded brass. Gilded brass scaled chinstrap with trefoil ends. The right side of the helmet has a Prussian kokarde, and the left side kokarde is missing. The tail is bordered with rounded brass rivets. The front interior visor is green enamel, and the rear visor is lined in brown velvet. The liner is fine red Moroccan leather cinched at the top. This lot also includes a tan cotton helmet cover for a WWI infantry spike helmet. The interior is marked “62 HOLST WERBER 1916 DRGM”. There is also a name inked on the inside that is partially illegible. CONDITION: helmet shows light wear overall and appears to have been professionally cleaned. The helmet cover shows light overall wear with minor staining. PROVENANCE: From the Lifelong Collection of Glen E. Mattox. (02-18576/BF). $2,000-3,000.
