PRITCHARD-GREENER STYLE WEBLEY BAYONET.

Originally Mfg. Prichard Webley bayonets are extremely rare. Constructed using brass handle w/ engraved patent markings & Greener trademark & blades were constructed usin...moreg shortened Gras bayonet blades w/ the tang fastened w/ a nut & the exposed tang would then be peened over to secure the blade permanently. The Pritchard bayonets are reproduced as well as assembled postwar after the closure of the Greener company in 1968. Copies of Prichard bayonets such as this one have stamped patent markings & no green or trademark. The tang on this bayonet has not been peened over the nut. This is a very high quality copy of a sought after Webley accessory. CONDITION: overall good showing handling marks & majority of finish is worn from the scabbard. Good leather frog. Sight features 2 sighting Zero markings on the elevating scale plate giving sight zero on the vernier & sighting zero on the range scale. Sight is marked "AJP Model 'TZ' ". Additionally marked on back "ALF. J. PARKER", "BIRMINGHAM" & "22". Adj. aperture disk marked "PARKER - HALE" & "MADE IN ENGLAND". Early sights were hand fitted to individual rifles by AJ Parker & rifle marked "AJP" at top of receiver ring. Right side of receiver ring has opposed arrows indicating private sale. Receiver ring also has "BNP" proof. Due to fitting of Parker rear sight, issued rear sight slide assembly has been removed leaving base, spring & protective ears. Blade front sight.
