EXTREMELY CLEAN LAFETTE TRIPOD.

Lot # 1053 (Sale Order: 55 of 693)

A stunning example of the WWII era Lafette tripod that was designed for the MG34. German code FSU indicating Brandenburger Fahrrad und Motorradwerk, Excelsior mfg. in 194...more3. Waffenamt on right rear mounting lug. Standard German mfg. procedures being well known for over engineering, this mount will not disappoint. It is a multi-functional tripod designed for low ground firing w/ a wide berth of traverse & elevation as well as an anti-aircraft mount. These mounts are not a simple stationary device only designed to lift the firearm off the ground but are complicated pieces of machinery that actually aid & assist in the function of the MG34. Use of this mount allows the MG34 to be fired remotely, potentially concealing the position of the operator. There is a provision for mounting optics directly on the tripod when utilizing this system. Also included is a correct MG34 anti-aircraft extension also in an equivalent condition. Most external metal surfaces painted in period correct shade of green while mechanical surfaces remain black. Leather straps, which appear to be weathered & original are still attached & in working condition as well as spare bolt box. Appears to have a post 1945 plastic range plate. It should be clear that this is an original German MG34 Lafette tripod & not a much more common Yugo import designed around the MG42 / MG3. CONDITION: all moving parts are smooth w/ a full range & appear to function exactly as intended. Remote firing mechanism moves freely & functions correctly. All traverse adjustment related markings are clear & highlighted white over their original black surface. Mfg. markings highlighted white. Anti aircraft extension has only a few light scratches on painted finish & does not appear to have seen much use. We assume tripod has been repainted given such complete coverage & the inability to read the fine stamping typically found in & around Waffenamt. Paint coverage is complete aside from obvious areas of friction during use & mounting. Leather pads on front remain soft, pliable & very smooth aside from a few areas that look like finish has been roughed up from abrasion. Leather straps are solid & still pliable w/ little damage aside from 1 cushion that appears to have fallen victim to peeling; possibly advanced due to moisture. PROVENANCE: The Mark Genovese collection. (02-12617 & 02-12680/JZ). $2,200-3,200

VALKYRIE ARMS M36 KULSPRUTA SEMI AUTO RIFLE

Lot # 1058 (Sale Order: 60 of 693)

MOUNTED ON 1917 A1 TRIPOD WITH AA EXTENTION. Cal. 8mm Mauser. S# 9930180. Bbl. 24". The Kulspruta model 1936 is a modified Browning 1917 specifically mfg. by & for the Sw...moreedish military. Adorned w/ a massive 4" Swedish coat of arms complete w/ crowns & lions combined w/ a lg. section of brass at the rear of the water jacket, actually extending to the front trunnion make it recognizable as this important Swedish variation of an American classic. While the most obvious differences between the Kulspruta & the Browning appear to be cosmetic, there are actually several important differences throughout the operating system. Because of the enormous amount of custom fabrication to bring this work horse back to life utilizing Valkyrie Arms left & right side plates, semi automatic versions of the Kulspruta are not commonly encountered. Students of the larger belt fed side plate guns are undoubtedly familiar w/ the potential for an unbelievably heavy trigger mechanism, however as w/ all of the other Valkyrie offerings, this particular example has a smooth crisp trigger on it w/ an extremely light weight of pull. The magic is in their proprietary modified AR-15 trigger system adapted to the side plate mechanisms. All exposed steel surfaces are finished in a deep dark black color which provides a stark contrast to the unusually lg. amount of brass in the area between the side plates & the water jacket. Heavy protected post front sight integral to the water jacket. Rear sight is an extremely precise windage adj. mechanism that also incorporates elevational adjustment from 500-3000 meters. Firing mechanism is engaged by use of spade grips w/ plastic handles & depressing the trigger mechanism located at the top w/ the tip of both thumbs. 5 1/2" Schwarzlose-type conical flash hider at muzzle, where the bbl. exits the brass, is another unique identifier. Mounted on 1917A1 tripod. Data plate reads "MOUNT TRIPOD M1917 A1 No 214539 Mcevoy Co 1943 M.H.D." w/ 26" anti aircraft extension & "U.S. M1917-A1" marked cradle. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: 1973 printed Swedish operator's manual. March 2001 vol. 4 no. 6 issue of Small Arms Review magazine containing a feature article on this gun signed by the author. 3 T-shirts containing studio photography of this gun commissioned by the owner. CONDITION: all exterior metal surfaces are finished in a uniform bluing w/ many parts being polished. Exposed brass portions of trunnion & water jacket, including corresponding bolts & attachments cleaned & polished. This gun is suitable as a display piece as it is a magnificent historical example on the firing line. Rear grip assembly painted black w/ brown plastic grips. Clean bore w/ extremely pronounced rifling. PROVENANCE: The Mark Genovese Collection. (19-3301, 02-12711, 02/12712, 02-12739-1/JZ). MODERN. $6,000-8,000.

EXTREMELY RARE PORTUGUESE CONTRACT FN 1939 MACHINE

Lot # 1074 (Sale Order: 75 of 693)

GUN PARTS KIT. Cal. 8mm Mauser. S# 365. Bbl. 25". An extremely rare example in the FN Browning family. The Modele 1932 was redesigned in an aircraft configuration for the...more country of Portugal where the cyclic rate was increased even higher than normal. During 1938 Monsieur Saive called for an additional design change to increase the rate of fire to 1500 rpm. This was even higher than his original redesign in 1932 where he increased the cyclic rate to 1200 rpm. It necessitated utilizing a larger booster and the buffer was redesigned from the vertical configuration utilizing fiber disks to a horizontal style that was fitted w/ a much stronger coil spring. Due to the increased cyclic rate it was necessary to retain as much receiver strength as possible, so less milling occurred in comparison to the lightened 1932 model. FN machine guns were typically built w/ 1 set of bottom plate trunnions but would be built w/ 2 by special order. This example is equipped w/ the single spade rear grip having the FN signature trigger bar located at the top. Rear sight adj. for windage & elevation graduated from 200-1800 meters. Set up in a left hand feed / left hand cocking configuration the intricate bolt can be converted to right hand feed. Black painted finish throughout all exposed metal surfaces, this kit appears to be complete except for the right side plate. Left side plate markings "FABRIQUE NATIONALE D'ARMES DE GUERRE HERSTAL-BELGIQUE 1939". This specimen incorporates dual rear trunnions. CONDITION: black painted exterior exhibits a few light marks. Clean bore w/ well pronounced rifling. PROVENANCE: Mark Genovese Collection. (02-12980/JZ). NON GUN. $1,800-2,800.
