The right ...morefront receiver leg is marked in electro-pencil. "LEAD 2-69," indicating an overhaul at Letterkenny Army Depot. It was sold through Rock Island Arsenal in August 1983 for the total sum of $112.70 according to the original matching invoice (DD 1149). The manual is the 1997 edition for the M-1 Garand rifle. The replacement barrel markings include "SA 4 63" and a defense acceptance eagle. Throat gauges 3.0 and muzzle gauges 2.0.T105E1 aperture rear sight. Blade front sight with protective ears. S# and rear sight markings enhanced in white. All major parts' markings are "SA." Stamped trigger guard. Arsenal replacement Hardwood stock set. Buttstock is marked with "P" proof under grip and has a faint Letterkenny Arsenal orange triangle at the end of the grip. Unmarked brown leather Model 1907 type sling. The next mark is the G.A.W. final acceptance mark, which is followed by another crossed cannon. The markings are all faint due to the arsenal rework finish. There are two "P" proofs under the grip, one of which is encircled, and "2165" is scratched inside the barrel channel. CONDITION: the stock set with its arsenal rework finish has moderate wear and handling marks throughout. These conversions began in 1955 and used a newly manufactured barrel that is 1/2" shorter ...morethan the standard 30-06 barrels. This rifle was a very early Springfield made Garand and retains all its original receiver markings. There are no visible import marks on the rifle. The spacer block is metal instead of the plastic used in the US conversions. The barrel is marked on the right side "SIAU 1967 M P"; this marking is the Italian subcontractor who made the barrels. T105E1 aperture rear sight with US knobs. Blade front sight with protective ears. Seal is present on sight screw. Bolt is marked "D-28287 / BMB." Operating rod with notch is marked "6535382 SA" and marked on the right side over magazine well "7.62 mm/2." Barrel has an unmarked flash suppressor, which replaces the gas cylinder lock. Single-slot gas cylinder lock screw. "SA" marked trigger housing, hammer, and safety. Stamped trigger guard. Stock set appears to be thin-shell European walnut, showing a notable figure. The buttstock is marked on the right side of the heel "MT." CONDITION: stock set shows slight wear and scattered tiny handling marks. Metal retains most of its arsenal rework finish with very light wear. The receiver has notable fine pitting in areas below the wood line. Very good, shiny bore with sharp lands. (24-5437/RW). Front sight is from a Model 1903 Springfield. The moveable base is equipped with a white bead sporting blade. The original rear sight has been removed and the screw holes filled. The walnut stock has been cut approximately 1 1/2" above the lower band. The stock has no visible acceptance marking but does have the circle "P" script proof. The finish appears to be original. Smooth trap buttplate. The original swivels have been retained. The metal has the appearance of an early professional refinish. CONDITION: stock set has moderate wear and handling marks throughout. There are 6 notable notches underneath grip. Metal is turning gray with patina, thinning and wear. Fair bore with lightly worn lands and frosted grooves. 1898 BOLT ACTION MILITARY RIFLE. Cal. 30-40 Krag. S# 104166. Bbl. 30". Model 1901 ladder rear sight graduated to 2000 yards. Blade front sight. Bayonet lug and stacking s...morewivel are present. Walnut stock and handguard. Stock is marked on left side with a boxed "JSA" and "1898" marked under the grip with an encircled "P" proof. Smooth trap buttplate. Correct unmarked tan leather sling with single brass hook. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: three-piece cleaning rod and nickel-plated oiler in butt. Lot also includes an 11 5/8" fullered blade bayonet, marked on the left ricasso "1901". Marked on right ricasso "US". Smooth walnut grips secured by two rivets. Steel scabbard with steel belt hook. Bayonet has moderate wear with light oxidation turning gray. Grips have an added gloss finish. Scabbard has thinning and scattered pitting with small dents. CONDITION: stock set has thinning, moderately worn original finish with scattered handling marks. Metal retains 80% of its original finish with thinning and wear. Receiver, sideplate, and mag. gate have a notable mottled, case-hardened appearance. Good shiny bore with lightly worn lands. PROVENANCE: from the lifelong collection of Jim Williams. (01-25848/RW). MILITARY CARBINE. Cal. 30-40 Krag. S# 173928. Bbl. 22". Bbl. is reduced between muzzle and front sight base for bayonet ring. Model 1898 tangent rear sight. Right and lef...moret notches have been removed, leaving the center notch intact. Blade front sight, which does not fit base correctly. Walnut stock set. Buttstock has visible boxed "JSA 1901" inspection mark and an encircled script "P" under the grip. Stock is not inletted for saddle ring. Smooth trap buttplate. CONDITION: stock has arsenal rework-type finish over heavy wear and numerous prominent handling marks with an added finish. Handguard has extensive repaired cracks between rear sight and receiver ring. Shiny bore with strong lands. (24-5199/RW). CURIO. $700-1,100.

MILITARY RIFLE. Cal. 30-06. S# 1031979. Bbl. 24". Very early production barrel, marked behind the front sight "RIA", a flaming bomb, and "7-06". Ladder rear sight graduat...moreed to 2850 yards. Flat windage and elevation knobs. Blade front sight. Receiver has an added marking on the left side at the front, which appears as an oriental character followed by "6-38". Remington-marked replacement bolt. All milled furniture. Non-matching walnut stock set. Buttstock is from 1903-A3 production with brass reinforcing pins. UNNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: nickel-plated oiler in the butt. CONDITION: stock set shows hobbiest gunsmith type fitting, notably around cut-off recess and attempts to tighten the barrel bands. The finish has some added gloss over the wear and numerous handling marks. The metal has wear and is turning overall gray with small areas of cleaned oxidation. Bore has moderately worn lands, turning dark in the grooves. (24-3906/RW). CURIO. $700-1,000.

Sight is mounted on Remington base without lightning cuts. Blade front sight. Bolt is from Smith Corona 1903-A3. Safety marked "R." All milled furniture, including smooth trap buttplate. Original type "C" pistol grip walnut stock set with original finish and crisp markings. Boxed "S.A. / G.A.W." and "crossed cannons" on the left side. Two encircled "P" proofs under grip. Model 1907 leather sling marked "LAWRENCE." UNNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: nickel-plated oiler in butt. CONDITION: stock set has moderate wear and handling marks but has a good appearance commensurate with careful service. Metal has 80% of its arsenal-reworked Parkerization with thinning and wear. Very good, shiny bore with sharp lands. PROVENANCE: from the collection of Mark Ivey Godfrey. (42-5274/RW). CURIO. $600-900.
