Scenes are surrounded by foliate scroll w/ flowing banners & straight line borders that continue to the forearm irons. Engraver signature "Legiers" is found at bottom of game scenes on both sides of action. Charles Legiers engraved at FN in the 1950s-60s, later he was professor of engraving at Ecole d'Armererie de Liege. Lightning style forearms & round knob pistol grip stock of fancy European walnut. NICELY RESTORED 1963 VINTAGE 20 GA. BROWNING MIDAS

GRADE SUPERPOSED GAME GUN ENGRAVED BY GINO CARGNEL. Cal. 20 Ga., 3". S# 29485V3. The 28" barrels with narrow matted ventilated rib have St. Louis & Montreal addresses on ...moreleft side of top barrel along with "MADE IN BELGIUM". Right side has steel, gauge and patent info. Barrels are marked for modified and full chokes. Acanthus scroll engraving is at breech ends. Blued small size Browning O/U action features selective gold plated trigger. Action is engraved in usual Midas style, as originated by noted engraver Louis Vrancken, with full coverage, large open shaded acanthus scroll surrounding semi-relief gold inlaid game birds within swept and scrolled gold lines. A trio of pheasant fly into open meadow on left side, and three ducks erupt from bushes and fly over a pond on right. A quail flies across bottom of action. Engraver's signature "G. CARGNEL" is at bottom right of pheasant scene. Trigger guard has usual vacant shield on bow. Strikingly marbled and lightly figured flesh toned European walnut long tang, round knob buttstock measures 14 3/8" over hard rubber Browning buttplate. Usual fancy pattern closely spaced checkering wraps over top of grip. Field type forend matches well and is captive on barrels with usual Browning latch. MEASUREMENTS: BBLS: Bore Diameter: U .613. O .611. RESTRICTION U .020 (mod). O .032 (full). Wall thickness U .042. O .038. STOCK: DAH: 2 1/2". DAC: 1 11/16". CAST: neutral. LOP: 14 3/8". WEIGHT: 6 lb. 10 oz. CONDITION: fine as restored. Barrels and action retaining nearly all good quality reblue with a hint of subsquent silvering on thumb piece and sharp edges. Stocks appear to be new factory replacements and have one or two fairly deep dents and light scratches, most notabley a 1" fairly deep scratch on left side of buttstock and a 3/4" x 3/8" dent in grip checkering to the left of top tang. The gam...moree scenes are bordered by gold inlay with 3 gold mallards on the right and 3 gold pheasants on the left side. The floorplate features a single gold quail. The scenes are surrounded by deep relief vine type foliate scroll and finely shaded backgrounds that extend to the top lever, trigger guard, forend irons and breech ends of bbls. The signature of Master Engraver Andre Watrin is located on the lower rear corner of the left side of the receiver. Top tang has gold safety & bbl. selector markings. Gold plated SST. Selective ejectors. Round knob long tang stock of gloss finished exhibition grade walnut . LOP: 14 1/8" over original buttplate. Brass oval presentation plate in toe line is engraved with initials "MAC". Each bbl. set has an individual matching forend with point pattern wrap around checkering. BBL. 1: 28" with fixed Mod & full chokes. BBL. 2: 26 1/2" with fixed IC & Mod chokes. Both bbls have hand matted vent ribs and white front beads. 1965 Belgian mfg. UNATTACHED ACCESORIES: Browning Style "SB" 2 bbl set Superposed luggage case. The Grade "B" case was a best value" case with black leatherette covering. It was discontinued in 1957. Case lid has an area of scrapes on right side. Case interior is loose in some spots. The original gold Superposed hang tag is present. CONDITION: Very good used condition. Over 85% action blue showing carry wear on receiver edges and trigger guard. Trigger has over 50% gold finish. Both bbls retain over 97% blue and have bright near excellent bores. St. Louis and Montreal addresses along with chamber information and patent numbers as well as "MADE IN BELGIUM" are on top barrel. Small size coin finished O/U action with gold plated selective single trigger is engraved in normal pointer style, with well cut scroll surrounding oval scenes of dogs on sides. A setter retrieving a duck is on left side and a pointer retrieving a pheasant on right. Both of these delicately cut scenes are signed "M. MAGIS". A pair of quail are on bottom of action and two pheasant; one taking wing, are on trigger guard bow. Long tang round knob buttstock of nicely streaked light colored European walnut measures 13-1/2" over newer black open sided white line pad. Multi point pattern checkering is at grip. Captive field forend matches well. MEASUREMENTS: BBLS: Bore Diameter: O .621. U .621. Restriction: O .014 (Mod.) U .005 (IC). Wall thickness: O .040. U .039. STOCK: DAH: 2-1/8". DAC: 1-7/16". CAST: neutral. LOP: 13-1/2". WEIGHT: 6 lb. 5 oz. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: gun comes in a brown vinyl Browning case lined in dark brown faux fur. CONDITION: very fine. Mostly original, barrels retaining over 80% original blue with scattered light scratches and marks and high edge wear. Action retains nearly all original factory gray finish with some slight evidence of wear and some darkening. Stocks retain nearly all of what appears to be their original finish with a fair scattering of light marks and scratches. Checkering remains light in color. Pad is a later replacement and not well fitted. Bores are bright and shiny, though a bit dirty. Mechanically fine. (23-2134/MGM). C&R. $5,000-8,000.

Coin finished small sized O/U action with gold plated single selective trigger is engraved in usual Diana style with large scrolling strap work and acanthus designs surrounding game scenes on sides. A group of five pheasant in open meadow on left and four ducks; two taking wing while two others remain in woodland pond, on right. A pair of quail fly across bottom of action and two hares are on trigger guard bow. Engraver's signature "Funken" is on rock at bottom center of pheasant scene. No other signatures or initials are found. Long tang round knob buttstock made of very nicely veined and lightly figured European walnut measures 14" over brown Old English pad. Usual point pattern checkering extends over top of grip and a vacant gold oval is on toeline. Captive field forend matches well. MEASUREMENTS: BBLS: Bore Diameter: O .623. U .619. Restriction: O .030 (Full). U .016 (Mod). Wall thickness: O .042. U .042. STOCK: DAH: 2-5/16". DAC: 1-9/16". CAST: slightly off. LOP: 14". WEIGHT: 6 lb. 12 oz. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: guns comes with a black plastic carrying case lined in blue cloth. CONDITION: fine as refinished. Barrels retaining nearly all re-black; action with renewed coin finish; stocks with renewed oil finish; checkering compenantly re-cut. Gun exhibits subsequent poor storage with spots of rusting mostly on left side of top barrel, right side of action and on left side of locking lump. Light cleaning shows improvement, a good cleaning should help. Bores are bright and shiny. Action shows just a hint of looseness. Mechanically good. Case is good with rust stains in interior. Custom made Hydrocoil buttstock of very attractively marbled and lightly figured European walnut measures 14-1/4" over black thin pad when in extended position. Stock measures 13" when collapsed. Rosewood grip cap has inlet gold diamond engraved "ROH" and grip checkering has relief carved and scrolled borders. Semi-beavertail captive forend matches well. MEASUREMENTS: BBLS: Bore Diameter: O .620. U .621. Restriction: O .000 (cyl). U .000 (cyl). Wall thickness: O .049. U .048. STOCK: DAH: 1-5/8". DAC: 1-5/8". CAST: neutral. LOP: 14-1/4" when extended. WEIGHT: 7 lb. 6 oz. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: gun comes with a brown vinyl Browning case lined in brown fuzzy faux fur. CONDITION: fine as completely refurbished. Barrels retaining nearly all old re-blue over some scratches and marks. Choke markings re-stamped. Action remains silver gray as refinished. Engraving somewhat softened. Newer custom stocks retain nearly all of their shiny finish. Checkering lightly worn. Hydrocoil mechanism not working requires air at a minimum. Bores are bright and shiny. Action is slightly loose. Standard checkering is at grip. Target type captive forend matches well. Barrels are fitted with 20 ga. full length tubes (not removed so bores etc. are not inspected). MEASUREMENTS: STOCK: DAH: 1-3/4". DAC: 1-3/8". CAST: neutral. LOP: 14-1/2". WEIGHT with tubes: 9 lb. 0 oz. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: gun comes in a brown vinyl Browning case, lined in dark brown faux fur and contains a key. Receiver, floorplate, trigger guard and breech end of bbl. have exq...moreuisite raised gold inlay. The front receiver ring depicts 2 coyotes with 4 prairie dogs on the floorplate and a bobcat portrait on the trigger guard bow. The scenes are surrounded and highlighted by gold inlay scroll and straight line borders. The gold filled S# is on the right side of the rear receiver ring and the master engraver's signature "Jose Baerton" is found on the left side. Monte Carlo cheekpiece stock of oil finished exhibition grade thin shell walnut. The stock's dark color is accented by orange tones found throughout the striking burl & fiddle figure. The fine hand checkering is bordered by deep relief foliate hand carving and circular punch borders. Other features include contrasting wood forend tip and flared grip cap with white line spacers, swivel bases and Browning buttplate. A brass oval presentation plate is located at bottom of the grip cap. Light sporter weight 22 1/2" bbl. Hooded ramp bead front with island mounted folding leaf rear sight. Weight 6 lbs. 9 oz. Matching single barrel with screw choke is 34". These barrel sets are marked "Manifattura Armi Perazzi (Brescia)" and "MADE IN ITALY". The 20 Ga. set is marked "Perazzi BRESCIA MADE IN ITALY" on monobloc. S# of the 20 Ga. barrels is 98787, S# of this gun is also stamped. These barrels have fixed choke in top barrel; screw choke in bottom. Coin finished MX8 action with blued removable trigger group features non automatic safety and single non selective trigger. Action is engraved with full coverage large shaded acanthus scroll as counter point to well detailed bullino game scenes. Action lightly cleaned showing no staining. Buttstock with oil touch up; checkering lightly worn. Checkering on forends show some darkening on 12 bore. 20 bore is "near new". Fatti" (Cesare Giovanelli is a very highly regarded Italian engraver of the "Golden Age" and founder of a renowned engraving school. Info on E. Straight grip buttstock made of a very fine piece of well marbled and finely figured European walnut measures 14-1/2" over checkered wood butt. Point pattern checkering is at grip.
