In 1903 he formed a partnership w/ George Schoyen in Denver. After Schoyen passed in 1916, Peterson continued making the accurate rifles he was famous for until his death at age 86 in 1946. Wind-Gauge globe front sight w/ mid range Vernier tang sight. Bbl. has 4 open holes for scope block attachment. Case colored Highwall action w/ single set trigger. Ebony tipped schnable forearm & hard rubber capped pistol grip stock of XXX walnut. Features include factory checkering & nickel finished Schuetzen buttplate. Left inside of lower tang is marked w/ assembly number "1181" followed by wood grade marking "XXX" & "SBC". Back of stock is marked w/ number "2901". Mfg. 1887. SHOT RIFLE. Cal. 25-35 WCF. S# 123785. Bbl 29 7/8". Model 1885 High Wall single shot rifle manufactured by Winchester after World War I. The full length heavy octagonal b...morearrel is stamped with Winchester's 2 line address over the top flat, with the caliber designation marked on the left flat at the breech. The entire rifle has been pleasantly restored, with the receiver, breechblock, hammer, trigger, and lever exhibiting a reapplied case color hardened finish, and the barrel a reapplied blue finish. The barrel features aftermarket scroll engraving on the upper 3 flats at the breech, with additional engraving present on the flats at the muzzle. Breech and muzzle both exhibit a single gold band. Dovetailed globe front sight with dovetailed Marble's flip-up U-notch rear sight. Barrel has been drilled and tapped over the address. Replacement plain straight grip wood buttstock with contemporary checkered steel buttplate, and replacement smooth wood ebony inlaid schnabel tip forend. CONDITION: excellent, as restored, with metal components retaining bountiful amounts of their reapplied case color hardened and blued finishes, exhibiting few spots of light wear, as well as some areas of mild pitting beneath the finish. Mirror bore, exhibiting well defined rifling throughout. Wood furniture shows a few light marks from handling and storage, but otherwise remains sturdy and serviceable. WALL SINGLE SHOT RIFLE. Cal. 22 Hornet. S# 13765. Model 1887 Low Wall single shot rifle manufactured by Winchester in 1887. This example has been professionally restored ...moreand includes a newly fabricated .22 Hornet barrel and a reapplied case color hardened finish on the receiver, breechblock, hammer, and lever. Capped checkered wood buttstock and checkered wood ebony inlaid schnabel tip forend have been lightly sanded and revarnished. Buttstock has been mounted with a Dayton Traister Co. MkII Monte Carlo rubber cheekpiece and a brass Schuetzen pattern buttplate. Barrel fitted with a Lyman Targetspot scope. CONDITION: excellent, with the receiver retaining bountiful amounts of its professionally reapplied case color hardened finish, exhibiting some spots of light pitting that is present beneath the finish. Barrel retains bountiful amounts of its blued finish, exhibiting a couple mild superficial marks from handling and storage. Scope retains a clear optic. Cal. 32-40. S# 10583. Bbl 24". Model 1885 High Wall single shot rifle manufactured by Winchester in 1887. Heavy barrel features a faceted section measuring 10 3/8" long f...morerom the breech, terminating in smooth round configuration. Top flat is stamped with Winchester's 2 line address, with the caliber designation at the breech. Ivory beaded blade front sight with tang mounted aperture rear sight. Barrel has been drilled and tapped twice, once at the breech, and once over the address. Dovetailed rear sight is not present. Receiver and lever exhibit a gray patina, with the barrel exhibiting a blued finish. Smooth wood straight grip buttstock, with a smooth schnabel tip forend, featuring an ebony insert at the tip. CONDITION: receiver and lever exhibit a dark mottled gray patina, with light pitting overall. Barrel retains the majority of its original factory blue finish, exhibiting some areas of wear and thinning that show through to a pleasant brown patina. Very bright bore, exhibiting some light pitting and strong rifling throughout. Wood furniture exhibits scattered marks and minor impressions from storage and handling, but is otherwise good. Buttstock, exhibits a couple of light cracks at the upper tang and is loosely fit. (01-24114/MLW). ANTIQUE. $500-1,000.

WINCHESTER MODEL 87 WINDER MUSKET.

Cal. 22 SHORT (RF). S# 125919. Bbl. 28" w/ slot blank in factory raised base at front plus plug screws in place of Krag 1901 rear sight. Added bbl. dovetails for installe...mored Lyman Stevens No. 141 target scope. Conceived by Col. C. B. Winder for military training using sm. rimfire rifles similar to issue centerfire rifles for easy, economical training that could be done indoors. Three variations of Model 1885's were used; High Wall & Low Wall actions. Third model mfg. Jan. 1918-June1920; listed by Winchester as Model 87 being High Wall altered to Low Wall shape for easier loading (per military request). Most 3rd variants had Lyman 53 receiver sights mounted on right side. Unique to 3rd variation is cross screw retention of rear bbl. band designed by Edwin Pugsley for expedient production (feature of this rifle). Also, perch belly shape to forend w/ single finger groove per side. Second variations were coil spring actioned High Walls w/ "A" at rear of lower tang as on this rifle. Correct serial range of 121,800 to 139,700 of 3rd variant also having lg. bbl. shank diameter of .935" (Low Wall was .835"). Marked on top tang behind hammer w/ "U. S." plus flaming bomb proof. Rifles were made up from large supply of parts on hand (when Army adopted Model 1922 bolt action replacement training rifle) from 1920 until 1923 when Winchester sold all remaining 1885 parts to Sedgley. Unusual variant incorporating Type 2 bbl. w/ other parts being Type 3. Nose cap, bbl. band w/ swivel, rear swivel set, buttplate plus all of action are wonderfully case colored (post production). Foregoing info from Bert Hartman research. CONDITION: very well presented package having very good original bbl. finish. Stock set has original appearing finish along w/ numerous light handling marks. Good bore w/ wear & light frosting (both even throughout bore). Restored scope set having very good exterior & clear optics. Light inclusions at outer perimeter of view; sharp, clear cross wire reticle. PROVENANCE: The Collection of Gun Sport Ltd. owned by Jon R. CONDITION: action retains over 90% nickel. Buttplate has much of the nickel finish showing scattered spots of loss. Original bbl. & mag. tube blue shows wear and fading to brown. Original wood finish shows light wear and scattered handling marks. Lightly pitted bore has largely intact rifling. (22-1865/DS). CURIO. $2,500-3,500.

Case color hardened frame, with blued barrel and magazine tube. Plain straight grip wood buttstock with grooved wood forend. Dovetailed blade front sight and V-notch rear sight. CONDITION: frame retains traces of its original case color hardened finish, with the balance exhibiting a gray patina overall. Barrel and magazine tube retain the majority of their original factory blue finish, exhibiting some wear and some scattered spots of dark oxidation overall. Bore is bright, exhibiting scattered pitting and good rifling throughout. Wood furniture shows scattered marks and impressions from storage and handling, but otherwise remains sturdy and serviceable. Standard configuration for Model 1890 rifles would typically consist of a 24" barrel, however it is widely known that Wincheste...morer would regularly manufacture firearms to non standard specifications via special order. Winchester did produce at least one 1890 with a 20" barrel that we are aware of (S# 55074). Winchester ledger records are not available for Model 1890s of this vintage and as such we cannot definitively confirm the original configuration however it appears correct. M1890 sporting sights, front sight is marked "PAT/NOV 4 02". Grooved forend & straight grip walnut stock w/ crescent steel buttplate. Mfg. 1917. CONDITION: 70% dull blue shows evidence of touchup. Original wood finish shows light wear, small scratches & handling marks. Bore retains sound rifling. (22-1870). MODERN. $1,000-1,500.

Mfg. 1919, the 22 LR chambering was added in 1918. CONDITION: 70% dull fading blue. Wood has heavily worn finish w/ dark spots, scratches marks. Stock has a hairline crack at toe. Late 2nd...more model with mortised breech block. Walnut forend & straight grip stock with crescent steel buttplate. CONDITION: original blue has largely faded to brown. Wood has slightly darkened appearance showing scratches & marks. Toeline has plugged hole from swivel attachment. Bore has lightly worn rifling showing some very light pitting. (22-1867/DS).
