Smith & Wesson 500 500 S&W Mag

Lot # 89 (Sale Order: 92 of 677)

SN: JRA0078. The Model 500 Performance Center was built on the entirely new X-Frame, which was developed exclusively to handle the immense muzzle velocity and pressures generated by firing of the .500 Magnum cartridge. It is among the most powerful revolvers in the world since its original release in 2003. This is the more difficult to find two-tone black and stainless model. This is part of the esteemed John Ross Special Edition, and it features a 5-inch threaded barrel, a 5-shot fluted cylinder, and a distinctive Pinto Configuration with a stainless steel cylinder and matte black finish. The barrel has a twist of 1 in 10 to stabilize longer, heavier bullets at long range. To get a tight cylinder gap, the John Ross Performance Center revolver uses an external muzzle nut which allows a cylinder gap of only .0035-.0045 inches to be achieved. This is number 78 of just 250 ever produced in this configuration, and with only 500 made in total. The trigger guard has been modified by taking a 1" cut out of the rear allowing higher purchase mitigating recoil. The cut looks like it was covered by magic marker as alloy is difficult to refinish. The bore is excellent/bright, action is crisp/smooth, textured S&W black rubber grips with finger grooves are excellent, finish has a couple of very minor scratches. Mounted with a Bushnell high contrast pistol on one piece Leupold scope. Clear optics. Front sight removed for scope, empty dovetail. Comes in a S&W Performance Center soft case with manual and two keys for internal locking system.NRA Condition-Excellent as Modified. Modern Firearm

New Haven Arms Co. 1860 Henry .44 RF SN: 525

Lot # 90 (Sale Order: 93 of 677)

‘First Model’ Civil War production brass framed lever action repeating rifle chambered in .44 Rimfire, manufactured in New Haven, CT circa 1862. Experts believe that most of the 9,000 Henry rifle manufactured between the beginning of production in April 1862 and the end of the Civil War in April 1865 were privately purchased by individual Federal soldiers who appreciated the fire-power offered by the Henry repeating rifle. Several Midwestern regiments were primarily armed with privately purchased Henry rifles. Nearly all of the Civil War production Henry rifles show heavy service use. This rifle features a 24” octagon barrel with integral 15 round full-length magazine on the underside, Brass blade front sight, sliding leaf rear sight graduated to 1000 yards, empty dove tail on rear of receiver, brass (gun metal) receiver, smooth trigger, straight finger lever with latch, knurled hammer spur, and straight grip walnut shoulder stock with early style brass trapdoor buttplate. Barrel markings: “HENRYS PATENT.OCT. 16,1860/MANUFACTD. BY THE NEWHAVEN ARMS.CO.NEW HAVEN. CT” & “525” between the rear sight and receiver. The barrel/magazine bears an aged gray patina some light scattered dark oxidation. The gun metal frame displays mellowed brass patina, along with some darker caramel tones in the protected areas. Action is mechanically sound, markings are very good and the wood stock is good with moderate imperfections such as a 1" dent on the left side of the comb. Bore has rifling present with scattered pitting throughout. The left sideplates color does not match the color on the rest of the rifle indicating it was cleaned or possibly replaced at some point with another original side plate. The buttstock fits impeccably and the buttplate, screws & stock are serial number matching “525”. An above average and very early Henry.Condition is NRA Very Good. Antique Firearm.
