Features blued finish, gloss urethane type finished walnut furniture, ventilated rubber recoil pad, Prince of Wales type grip, checkered panels at wrist & forend, 30" fixed choke barrels (Full over Mod), single selective inertia trigger, barrel selection at tang safety, selective ejection, steel bead front sight. Action displays limited scroll motif engraving. Stock measurements: 14" Length of Pull, 1-1/2" Drop at Comb, 2-1/2" Drop at Heel. Bores are excellent condition. Retains 905% deep blue with handling marks, edge losses. Slight loss of gold accent color from trigger face. Wood is close to excellent overall with few dings and dents from handling. Highway Patrolman, "Pre Model 28", manufactured circa 1954. Blued six shot double action revolver chambered in .357 Magnum. Features a pinned & tapered 4" flat rib barrel, shrouded extractor rod, fluted cylinder with beveled edges, ramped, serrated, front sight ,adjustable micrometer click rear sight, serrated trigger, and checkered wide hammer. Checkered walnut grips with S&W medallions. Blue finish is about 97% with a couple of rubs, edge wear, and slight tracking on the cylinder.. Bore is excellent/bright and action is very smooth. Grips are excellent. Revolver has not seen much use. NRA Condition-Near Excellent. C&R Firearm.

All markings are crisp/clear except the eagle head, P proof on barrel is faint. Bore is fair condition, mostly bright with strong rifling, some pitting throughout. Metal parts are brown color, mottled or gray in places, with small traces of blue, barrel band is mostly blue. Stock is good condition, has been lightly sanded and refinished, with no cartouche, or proof remaining. '1888" is stamped behind the lower tang, which appears more recent. By "Fred Fellows", entitled "Sante Fe Saddle" numbered 58/100. Measures 5"x6"x8" BIO- Fred Fellows had early exposure to ranching and Otoe and Osage Indian reservations. As an artist, he is self-taught, and earned membership (and in 1997 presidency) of the Cowboy Artists of America. Fred Fellows grew up in California where he worked as a cowboy and apprenticed for four years to a saddle maker. Later attended Art Center School in Los Angeles and began a successful career in the aircraft industry. In 1964, he moved his family to Big Fork, Montana to devote himself to painting, while also spending his spare time roping for the big Montana cow outfits.
