Original Oil on Canvas by Kim Mackey

Lot # 267 (Sale Order: 327 of 900)

"Twilight" signed lower right and on back of canvas. Image measures 5 1/2" x 7 1/2" in wide gold wood frame. From Pueblo, Colorado, Kim Mackey sought a quiet environment in his birthplace after spending time in Denver where he studied illustration at the Colorado Institute of Art. He had a career as a commercial artist including being a police-sketch artist, but in 1985, turned full time to his fine art painting because his gallery sales were able to support him financially. Kim paints a variety of subjects from still life to figures, but prefers paintings with cowboys and horses and landscape--Colorado ranch life, which reflects his family heritage of a long line of cattle ranchers. He paints primarily in his studio, working from photographs, but also does some painting on location.

Original Oil on Canvasboard by Tom Lucas

Lot # 278 (Sale Order: 344 of 900)

"Still Life Beadwork" signed lower left. Image measures 15 1/2" x 11 1/2" in gold wood frame with wide linen inset and matching gold fillet. Inspired by his childhood memories of Charlie Russell, Tom Lucas always had a deep desire to create art of the Western culture. His lifestyle as a cowboy, mountain man, hunter, trapper and outdoorsman serves as the ultimate foundation for his art. Tom’s passion for being creative was always waiting to be fulfilled by the next canvas. His life experience lent validity to his artwork, as he paints with emotion while capturing a culture or lifestyle. Having mastered his technique and style he continues to maintain a library full of research materials and art books by his favorite artists; Charles Russell, Carl Rungius, Bob Kuhn, Ken Carlson, Nicolas Fechin, Harley Brown and David Leffel, which inspires him daily. Tom Lucas’s interest and passion of ancestral tool making has led him to be documented on PBS in such films as Sheep-Eaters: Life in the Mountains and Archers of the Yellowstone. Known as Tomahawk Tom in the Mountain Man arena, Tom has mastered replicating Indian artifacts (Big-horn sheep bows, War-bonnets, beaded clothing and shoes, horn scoops, knives, arrowheads, etc) many of which are subjects in his paintings and are on exhibit in museums in Wyoming. -Tom Lucas website
