French Darne SxS 12 Ga. SN: 589

Lot # 48 (Sale Order: 51 of 765)      

This wonderfully engraved Darne shotgun has a single brass bead sight on the matte, solid rib. The 27 1/2" blue barrels have 2 3/4 inch chambers with improved cylinder/full chokes. The coin finished sliding monoblock breech has been engraved in fine line detailing with bold floral scroll covering the almost entire visible surface of the action. The fences feature deeply chiseled foliate scroll. The trigger guard is similarly engraved. Mounted on a finely checkered walnut forearm and straight grip stock with a "Le Fusil Darne St. Etinnne" buttplate, sling swivels. Serial number inside triggerguard, & rear of action lever, action lever marked "Darne" in oval. Double triggers, rotating safety on left side of action. Length of pull is 14 1/4" from the front trigger. Bores look but need cleaning, sliding action is smooth/tight lock-up, the metal finishes are very good overall, there some rust spots along the right rib, may clean up. wood is very good to excellent. Brown leather hand protector attached to the barrels. NRA Condition-Very Good. C&R Firearm.

Manufactured circa 1886. Features 30" octagon barrel, full length magazine tube, buckhorn sights, straight wrist, finger lever latch, sliding dust cover, steel crescent buttplate. Bore is dark/rough with light rifling. Blue finish has turned a molted gray/brown patina with traces of blue mostly on the lever, hammer, and rear sight, some very light scattered areas of pin-prick pitting. Screw slots are very good. Wood is very good, has been re-varnished. Action is smooth. Dust cover is tight. Model marking on top tang is feint, two line barrel address is crisp ,serial number on bottom tang is feint, "32 Cal" brass lifter marking is faint. The .32 W.C.F. on barrel flat is crisp. Someone has affixed a 3 1/4" tin plate etched with Buffalo Bill's Wild West in script to the right butt stock, attached with brass tacks, "WFC" (William F. Cody) is etched on the left barrel flat, and the upper underside of the receiver. Comes with a fringed suede sheath. NRA Condition-Good. Antique Firearm.

Checkered walnut grips, straw colored small parts, Newer after market magazine with black plastic plug. Bore is rough/pitted, wood grips are very good, straw is about 30% with traces remaining, barrel & side plate appear to have been smoothed to remove pitting and reblued, with faint barrel serial number and traces of pitting remaining. The left side of the receiver is marked “OESTERR. WAFFENFABR.-GES.STEYR”. . The top of the receiver’s chamber ring is marked “Patent / Mannlicher / Schoenauer / M1903” in fine checkering/matting. Highly figured one piece pistol grip wood stock, shadow line cheek piece, sling swivels, grip cap. grooved steel buttplate with trap door for cleaning rod. Bore is very good, action is smooth/tight, wood is near excellent with minor dings, barrel has a very light blue finish, Blue receiver blued finish has dulled with handling wear on the bottom metal & bolt handle. Features a 21 1/2" shortened octagon barrel, full length magazine tube, dovetailed blade front sight, adjustable rear sporting sight, smooth trigger, knurled hammer spur, smooth walnut forend with metal cap and straight grip shoulder stock with crescent metal buttplate. The rifle exhibits little to no remaining finish with majority of the metal surfaces displaying a mottled grey/brown patina with scratches & dings, some small areas of light pitting. The action is sound, the bore is good with some scattered pitting and the wood stocks are good/sound with minor scratches/dings. Two line Winchester address on barrel flat, along with '45-90 W,C,F', 'Model 1886' on upper tan, and two patent dates on lower tang. NRA Condition-Fair/Shortened Barrel. C&R Firearm.

It has the matching last two digits of the serial number in the various other parts. The pistol is fitted with a set of checkered walnut grips. It is complete with correct magazine that has a nickel-plated body with the wooden base, unmarked. SN: 21718. Infantry rifle issued th the Norwegian military in 1922. There is no visible import mark. The top of the receiver is marked with the Kongsberg Arsenal mark “crown / K” and “1922”. The left side of the receiver, the wood below it and the buttplate are each marked with the serial number “21718”. The left side of the stock is marked with a faded “crowned letter” above the serial number. The underside of the sight ladder is marked with the last three digits of the serial number “718” in 2 spots. The left side of the barrel band and trigger guard are each marked with the last three digits of the serial number “.718”. The bolt handle & bolt assembly are marked “.049” in three separate spots. The magazine cutoff is marked “AA” and “S”. The top of the rear sight base is marked “T” 24" barrel with blade/tangent rear sights graduated to 2200 meters, side loading magazine, Mauser style safety. Bore is good with strong rifling, action is smooth, wood is good with minor scratches/dings, blue is about 60%. Comes with original bayonet, mismatched. NRA Condition-Good. C&R Firearm.

The left side of the receiver, the wood below it and the buttplate are each marked with the serial number “21718”. The left side of the stock is marked with a faded “crowned letter” above the serial number. The underside of the sight ladder is marked with the last three digits of the serial number “718” in 2 spots. The left side of the barrel band and trigger guard are each marked with the last three digits of the serial number “.718”. The bolt handle & bolt assembly are marked “.049” in three separate spots. The magazine cutoff is marked “AA” and “S”. The top of the rear sight base is marked “T” 24" barrel with blade/tangent rear sights graduated to 2200 meters, side loading magazine, Mauser style safety. Bore is good with strong rifling, action is smooth, wood is good with minor scratches/dings, blue is about 60%. Comes with original bayonet, mismatched. NRA Condition-Good. C&R Firearm.

U.S. Army" Colt's Patent's and Address in two lines on left slide with "Rampant Colt". "United States property" on left frame. "H" stamped on the rear of the slide above the firing pin stop plate. Smooth, flat mainspring housing. Grip safety. Lanyard ring. Blued finish. Brown checkered wood "Diamond" grips. Bore appears very good bright. Grips are very good. Action is crisp/tight. Blued finish is about 75% with edge wear/minor scratches. Handling loss to the mainspring housing and fore grip. Comes with one 8-rd magazine, unmarked, and a Rare Rock Island Arsenal marked flap holster dated 1916, first year RIA made holsters for the M1911. No Rampant Colt on left side of receiver. Bore is fair with scattered areas of pitting,strong rifling. Carbine displays 85% of the original nickel finish, turning brown in places, some scratches around the saddle ring, wood is very good/sound with minor scratches/dents, action is smooth. Includes factory letter which confirms features, states the original finish was nickel and also states it was shipped to Shelton-Payne Arms in El Paso Texas on August 25, 1915. Note Pancho Villa's engraved Colt was also shipped to Shelton-Payne with other Colt's and Winchesters that went south during the Border War Era. Revolver retains approximately 95% of its nickel plated refinish showing edge wear and some scattered pitting visible under the finish. Markings are good, action functions well though the cylinder release mechanism needs attention (extremely tight) and the bore is good with minor pitting and the wood grips are very good with blemishes. Bore is good condition, rifling visible,some scattered light pitting present. Metal surfaces are mostly a blue/gray molted patina, edge losses, and some light pitting throughout. Markings are crisp, including Waffenfabrik Mauser Oberndorf on top flat of chamber, U crown proof on left receiver, and three scripted letters on the underside of the barrel. Single-shot breech loading rifle chambered in .43 Spanish, 3 band with 35" barrel with front blade, elevation adjustable rear sights. Has the Remington address with patent date in three lines on the tang, the last patent dates are unreadable, serial number on the left sides of the tang, "B" on the left lower barrel, and "U" on the left lower band. A bit of a puzzle, because these are the only markings. No bayonet lug. Bore is good with rifling present,metal has turned a gray/brown patina, wood is good/sound with scratches/dings, has been cleaned. The hammer cocks but does not fire, trigger needs to be depressed for it to return, main spring ?. Cleaning rod present. NRA Condition-Poor. needs repair. Antique Firearm.
