Rifle retains approximately 99% of its original finish. Bore and action are excellent with a little dirt, wood stock is excellent with little to no marks. Features an 4" octagon barrel, brass bead front sight, v notch rear sight cut into the hammer lip, smooth thin trigger, knurled hammer spur, non-fluted six shot cylinder with roll stamped Stagecoach scene is not visible, loading lever, one line New York address on barrel flat, round brass trigger guard, brass backstrap, one-piece oil finished smooth walnut grip. Bore is good, fairly bright with sharp rifling, some light pitting throughout, dark grooves. Metal surfaces show mottled gray patina, over small areas of bare metal, minor loss of contours throughout. Engraved scene on cylinder is gone. Wood is good condition with slight scratches. Serial number repeated on barrel, partial on cylinder, triggerguard & back strap. Action is sound. Wedge is a newer replacement. Left side of barrel is stamped "CHB" in block letters, looks period done.NRA Condition-Good. Antique Firearm.

Manhattan Arms Series III Navy .36 Cal. SN: 19222

Lot # 335 (Sale Order: 399 of 652)      

Civil War percussion single action revolver chambered for .36 caliber ammunition, 5-shot, modeled after Colts 1849 Pocket. Approximately 30,000 of the SERIES III revolvers were made between Sept. 1, 1861 and April 1, 1864. Features a 6 1/2" octagonal barrel with "Manhattan Firearms Co. Newark NJ", loading lever, German silver blade front sight, notched rear sight, roll stamped cylinder with floral panels, checkered hammer spur, plated brass grip frame, and once piece varnished walnut grips. Finish has moved to an even medium grey patina. Matching serial numbers on the barrel, frame, triggerguard, grip frame, cylinder pin, and cylinder, wedge is mismatched, markings are feint, but readable. Bore has small areas of pitting, and wood grips are very good with few blemishes. The two cock hammer action works well with cylinder removed, but the cylinder stop does not depress when the hammer is cocked not allowing it to rotate. Needs repair/adjustment. The barrel is a little loose.NRA Condition-Fair. Antique Firearm.
