Porsche love affair with the turbocharger dates to the 60s with the 911 under the watchful eye of Porsche?s racing director, Ferdinand Piech with results that were, initially, disappointing.
Fast forward to 1972 when Ernest Fuhrmann, father of the 4-cam engines of the 1950-60s, had a 2.7 liter version built and installed in his personal 911 which, then, led to a prototype of the 930 displayed at the Frankfurt Auto Show in 1973.
The first production 930 was a 1975 model introduced in Europe, migrating to the U.S. in 1976 but handicapped with emission issues constrained the output to a mere 234 horsepower. Because of U.S. emission policies, the 930 took a circuitous sales path from 1975 to 1986. Reintroduced in the U.S. and Canada in 1986, the 930 became the ultimate road warrior for Porsche.
Enter the Slantnose. While 930s are not rare (20,000+ between ?75 and ?89) the Slantnose is exclusive. Of the 1,945 930s imported to the U.S. in 1989, only 34 were Slantnose Coupes. Mimicking the aggressive appearance of the 935 Factory racer, by 1987 demand was sufficient to make the ?nose? conversion a Factory option. The cost: a staggering $40,000 added to the base 930 of $70,000. Dubbed the M505 option, these cars became highly sought after, especially the 1989 model.
The 1989 930 model is the most desired because it included a 5-speed Getrag G50 gear box, a marked improvement over the Type 915 unit, which had one less forward gear and was insufficient in handling the torque of the turbo. The G50 turbo would be a single year only. The 930 died in 1990 due to U.S. emission standards.

The performance of the 930 was impressive with 0-60 times in the 5.3 second range with a top speed of 169 mph, despite weighing 300 more pounds than a 911. Somewhat ?tail happy?, road testers enjoyed the car?s straight line performance over executing sweepers and slaloms. The extra weight created some serious oversteer.

  •  The 930 featured here is part of an estate, displaying 42,578 miles.

1986 Ferrari Testarossa

The Ferrari Testarossa draws its name from an historical relative?the Ferrari 250 TR?which was built between 1957-61. Its racing heritage was nothing short of stunning, having won Le Mans in 1958, 1959, and 1961, and it was awarded the World Sports Car Championship constructor?s titles in as many years. It is no surprise that Ferrari would use the namesake to promote what would become one of their best-selling models two and half decades later.

The modern version, the type F110, is like its ancestral brethren, in that it is also powered by a 12-cylinder engine placed mid-ship. This modern-day TR was introduced in 1984 and was the successor to the Ferrari Berlinetta Boxer (BBi) which suffered from unbearable cabin heat and lack of luggage space. The TR was six inches wider than the Boxer with increased head room of one-half inch. Coupled with a 64mm increase in the wheelbase, the existing issues surrounding the Boxer were eliminated.  The TR engine was identical to the Boxer but had evolved from 2 to 4 valves per cylinder.

The styling geniuses at Pininfarina originated the design, with much of the credit going to Emanuele Nicosia and chief designer, Leonardo Fioravanti, who was specifically trained in aerodynamics. Fioravanti set the stage for the initial layout of the car, achieving a drag Cd=.36 which was significantly lower than the Lamborghini Countach?s .42?all without the need for a rear spoiler.

This TR has a naturally aspirated 4.9 L, longitudinally mounted, Tipo F113 flat-12 with four valves per cylinder and is lubricated by a dry sump system. The engine has a compression ratio of 9.20:1 and provides 385 hp at 6,500 rpms with torque specs at 360 ft lbs. at 4,500 rpm. The U.S. version has slightly less horsepower and torque ratings than its European counterpart. All TRs were available with rear mounted five speed transmissions.

The performance of the TR is impressive with 0-60 times in the five second range with top end numbers coming in at around 180 mph, with quarter mile times in 13.5 second range.

The Testa Rossa is a recognized cultural icon of the 1980s and was popularized by the media in CBS?s hit series, Miami Vice and Sega?s 1986 video game, Outrun.

Our car featured here was purchased by its original owner in 1988. With only 16,900 miles, it has been stored in a climate controlled facility all of its life.

The car last saw service at Lake Forest Ferrari in 2014 when the car had logged 13,000 miles. At that time, the timing belts were replaced, and the car received a major tune-up.

In the world of motorsport, it is unlikely that any tribute car has historical underpinnings like the Ford GT. The original 1966 MK 2 was a veritable world beater, having won Sebring, and Daytona, and brutalized the competition with a 1-2-3 finish at Le Mans. It was the highwater mark, as well, for the legendary Ken Miles of Shelby American who won the first two races and, technically, should have been credited with the Le Mans win, as well. This success motivated Ford to develop the Mark IV that carried the day by winning Le Mans in ?67 with Dan Gurney and A.J. Foyt at the helm. Those consecutive Le Mans wins proved to be the pinnacle of Ford?s success in racing. It was not to be repeated, again.

The 2006 variant is strikingly similar to the original, although certain modifications have been made to insure driver accessibility. It is bigger, wider, and four inches taller than the original. There was some discussion, early on, to name the car the GT44, reflecting the 100mm increase in height, but that idea was abandoned in favor of the GT40 moniker.

The 5.4 L is a longitudinal rear-mounted Modular V8 engine (all aluminum alloy) with an Eaton 2300 Lysholmscrew-type supercharger. A dry sump oiling system is employed. The DOHC 4 valves per cylinder are a revision of the 2000 Ford Mustang SVT Cobra R cylinder heads found in the Shelby GT500. Power output is 550 hp @ 6,500 rpms. A Ricardo 6-speed manual transmission is fitted featuring a helical limited-slip differential.

Car and Driver and driver tested the car in pre-production and recorded a 0-60 acceleration time of 3.3 seconds. While capable of 200+ mph, Johnny Bohmer has claimed the title of ?fastest street-legal? car in the world, achieving 310 mph on the extra-long runway at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida.

  • This car has only 1,957 documented miles, making it one of the rarest - low-use - Ford GTs in existence. It comes with the red caliper upgrade, as well as polished billet aluminum wheels.
  • One owner with a Clean Car Fax

1965 Shelby Cobra 427 S/C CSX Continuation Series

The impetus and development of the Shelby continuation series of Cobras arose from Carroll Shelby?s frustration with the growing replica industry which was monetizing his success by duplicating the car from which he made a household name in the mid-sixties.

Initially, the fiberglass bodies were supplied by SPF who, at that time, had experienced tremendous success in marketing a ?turn-key minus? version of the 427 S/C. Kirkham would later supply Shelby American with aluminum bodies, but the fiberglass bodies proved to be the norm in 1998.

This Shelby Cobra is finished in Guardsman Blue. The 5-digit odometer indicates 445 miles.

Power comes from a 427ci FE ci side-oiler and features an aluminum block. Compression is 9:5:1, and the intake is a dual plane with a Holley 3310 carburetor. Power is sent through the wheels through a Ford Toploader 4-speed mated to a 3:54 Shelby differential (aluminum housing).

Black leather seats are equipped with a Simpson 5-point harness for the driver. Smith gauges complete the interior layout.

The front suspension is four-wheel independent with dual A-arm and coil-over shocks. The battery is mounted in the trunk and a 23-gallon fuel cell is fitted. The 15? Trigo pin-drive wheels measure 8? in width up front and 10.5? in back.

Shelby American built approximately 650 CSX 4000 continuation Cobras between 1997 and 2009, making CSX 4070 one of the earliest examples.

This car is listed in the Shelby American Registry and was built by Cheetah Engineering of Minneapolis, Mn.

  • 34,375 miles

The Mercedes AMG C63 falls under the luxury sports sedan banner. The BMW M3 has always been the champion of this group but in recent years the C63 and the E63 have given it a run for its money.

The heart of the beast lies in its engine?a veritable Jekyll and Hyde powerplant that produces 469 hp and 479 lb-ft of torque. The C63 uses a nine-speed automatic with rear wheel drive. AMG estimates a top speed of 180 mph. All 63s come standard with an electronically controlled limit slip differential and an AMG ride control suspension with adaptive dampers. Handling is excellent. Its C63 S brethren managed to record 1.02 g?s on a skid pad and braked from 70 mph to a stop in 157 feet

The 2019 model experiences a few changes. The 12.3-inch digital display is now standard, as is the Burmester Surround Sound premium audio system. The onboard infotainment and navigation system is outstanding , integrating well with the digital instrument cluster, but the C-Class also comes standard with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay for those who prefer to bring their own apps on the road.

The C63 is truly in a class of its own. The twin turbo V-8 can be as mild-mannered as Clark Kent or a maniacal monster like the ?Hulk?. Normally, one has to pay in the high six figures for a car that can produce this range of power. Not so with the C63.

The stripes on this car were recently added. Up for consideration is this Factory Built 1967 Valkyrie Mid-Engine car that is powered by a Chevy Small Block V8.
This Mid-Engine Valkyrie has only 6,777 miles on it and is going up. This car is the closest thing that you can get to a Vintage Street Legal Race Car.
This car fits the part of a street legal race car. Every show that we take it to, it draws crowds. It has a boatload of power now and we are hoping to get more out of it with the new Fuel Injection system.
I was told that this car was originally built by the FiberFab Factory as a Mule Vehicle to promote the Small Block Version of the car around the local race tracks. As you can see by the memorabilia that is included with the car, it spent some time at the Carol Shelby Headquarters in California. From what I am told, I am the third private owner of the car and it has very few miles on it. The car was originally inspected in California as you can see by the inspection tag.
*Chevy Small Block that turns the tires when desired.
*Programable Fuel Injection System that learns your driving habits.
*Wilwood Master Cylinders and Front Wilwood Brakes.
* Factory Custom Interior.
*Well laid out Gauges.
*Vitage Racing Wheels and Tires to fit the part.
*Newer High Capacity Radiator.
*Newer Derale Electric Fan
*What appears to be the original paint from 1967. As you can see by the photos, it still has a shine!
*Vintage Style Racing Stripes will be installed shortly.
*Please see the detailed photos for more information.
*ONE NOTE: The Rochester Fuel Injection unit will be removed and replaced with a modern Speedmaster Downdraft FAST EFI 2.0 Fuel Injection System in Black with Chrome Caps & Wire covers for the vintage look but Modern Fuel Injection Technology. The part has been ordered for some time and is not in yet. This part alone is $4,400.00 uninstalled. PLEASE See the photos within the description to see the look of the programmable performance system.
*I purchased the car to restore. Our shop is backed up 2 full years. We are presenting this car to the public for consideration for purchase. Drive it as is or have it fully restored. If it doesn't sell, we will continue to drive the wheels off of it!
