1915 Pierce-Arrow Model 48

Lot # S301 (Sale Order: 117 of 160)

This Item Has a Reserve.
The seller has the right to lower the reserve at any time. If you are the high bidder be prepared to own the piece. All Bids are final.
  • THE CAR OF PRESIDENTS - The Classic Car Appraisal Service carefully examined this 1915 Pierce-Arrow Model 48 7-passenger Touring in order to make a determination of its current retail market value. A total of 825 were originally created, with an estimated 15 left. License plate: Pioneer MN #15. Very valuable, one of the lowest numbers you'll see! Vehicle has been stored in a climate controlled museum. Vehicle starts and runs. This vehicle has been a cherished and beloved gem in the current owner's collection since 1995 - a favorite parade car of his whole family! When they were younger, all 11 grandkids could fit in it with the owner, with the littlest ones fitting two per jump seat. This car has been carefully transported around Minnesota and been the star of countless parades and car conventions, even on display at the Glensheen mansion in Duluth. We are pleased to pass this car onto the next owners that will treat it with the love, reverence and respect it commands. Vehicle comes with a wealth of historical documents, newspaper cuttings and parade pictures, original trunk and maintenance items, and more. Every cubby holds a piece of history! This odometer on this maroon and black exterior with black interior Pierce-Arrow shows 12,434 miles. Amenities include, but are not necessarily limited to the following: 515cid/48bhp 6-cylinder engine; 4-speed transmission; U.S. Gauge Company and Westinghouse gauges; electric horn; clock; cowl lights; rear-view mirror; dual rear spare tires; front ?shock-absorbing bumper; oilers; and trouble light. The tires are older Lincoln Tire Company blackwalls in good condition, all mounted on varnished wooden spoke wheels.

All information has been copied from the appraisal, received January 2023. HISTORICAL: The Buffalo (NY) based automaker produced large, luxurious and powerful high-end automobiles. In the mid-1910s they offered three models, with the model 48 being the mid-size option, having a wheelbase of 142 inches. Powered by the impressive 6 cylinder, 48 horsepower T head engine, the model 48 is one of the revered ?big horsepower Pierces?. In 1913, the Pierce-Arrow Company patented the design of headlights faired into the tops of the front fenders and was first seen on a Model 48-B2. During the production lifespan of the Model 48-B, a total of 825 examples were created, and each carried a price tag that ranged from $4,850 - $6,300, depending on body-style and coachwork. MECHANICAL: Vehicle starts and is used every year. We were told that the engine starts easily and idles smoothly while the transmission works very well and shifts easily. The brakes pull the car to a straight stop, although with a heavy foot. The steering is reportedly smooth, easy and tracks straight down the road. EXTERIOR: The exterior physical condition of this vehicle?s sheet metal and wood is very good with no dents, dings or rust. All the body panels appear to be original to the car. The car was repainted burgundy and black many, many years ago. It is so old that it looks original, but there are a few areas where the original green paint shows through. The nickel plating bright-work or trim on this car is in good condition, but is dull from age, and has fine surface scratches. The folding windshield glass appears to be newer, and in very good condition. The vinyl convertible top is older, but in good condition. INTERIOR: The original black leather upholstery on the seats and door panels is in fair condition. It is good for occasional use, or for patterns. The original linoleum floorboards are in good condition, but cracking some, and are covered by very old carpets. The painted dash, gauges and steering wheel are all correct, but have not been restored. CHASSIS: The undercarriage looks to be in nice original condition. It has scratches and grease on the suspension and pans. The exhaust system is in good condition, with minor surface rust.

    • Title in transit

1988 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible finished in Black paint. Paint looks good on this overall, being a darker car it has been touched up in spots where needed. This low-mile car has a clean carfax, no accidents indicated as well as confirms 9,116 ACTUAL MILES! Powered by the 5.7L TPI V8 under the hood that is paired up with a 4+3 manual transmission. Some changes to the car: PCM under the hood has been upgraded with an engine offering increased torque band, slightly lowered, upgraded intake runner, and larger brake system installed. There is a better flowing exhaust system on this now with side exits on both sides of the car behind the rear wheels, previous owner filled in the holes with panels. The components for that side exhaust setup are still around if wanted that way. Equipped with power steering, am/fm/cassette stereo, power brakes, power windows, and A/C! A/C BLOWS COLD! Riding on the correct "salad shooter' wheels to this car. Gray leather bucket seat interior with center console and manual on the console. Seats are in nice shape showing normal leather wrinkling. Black cloth top is in like new condition with manual operation and has a plastic rear window; fits great! Stereo itself is in working order but not all speakers are outputting sound. Power antenna and flip-up headlights in working order! Great sounding C4 Corvette!
