Colt WWI Reproduction 1911 Government Model Pistol

Lot # 657 (Sale Order: 654 of 664)

Rare Stainless Steel Prototype Serial Number SS2 Colt World War I Reproduction 1911 Government Model Semi-Automatic Pistol with Original Box

Manufactured c. 2010, this appears to be an early prototype of Colt's World War I reproduction Model 1911 pistol with an extremely rare stainless steel finish. It is likely that this pistol was a pre-production test of the stainless steel finish which never made it to full production. The "SS2" serial number on the right of the frame of this pistol indicates that likely relatively few were manufactured during the prototype phase. The consignor states this is one of only two manufactured in stainless steel. Includes the original shipping box (matching serial number, but finish listed as "carbonia blue"), Colt blue box, Kraft style box hand numbered to the gun, and two extra magazines.

Class: Modern Handgun

Excellent, with a few scattered light scuffs on the right side of the slide and otherwise only the slightest handling marks. The grips are also excellent with only the slightest handling marks. Mechanically excellent. The boxes are very fine.

Swiss Police Marked SIG Sauer Model P226 Semi-Automatic Pistol

Lot # 662 (Sale Order: 659 of 664)

Swiss Police Marked SIG Sauer Model P226 Semi-Automatic Pistol with Box

Based off of the design of the SIG 220 pistol with the addition of double-stack magazines, the P226 competed against Beretta's 92FS pistol design during the XM9 Service Pistol Trails but ultimately lost out in favor of the latter. This specific example showcases that fact with a Swiss Neuchatel City Police crest laser etched into the top of the slide, indicating Swiss police use. Features dovetailed and tritium lamped front and rear sights, along with matching "U 652 943" serial numbers and "eagle/n" proofs on the slide, frame, and barrel. The slide has an import mark under the rail flats near the muzzle. The barrel is also marked with a Swiss "Bernerprobe" and "03" dated letter code proofs. Fitted with a one-piece textured plastic grip. Includes shipping box.

Class: Modern Handgun

Excellent overall as a Swiss issued police pistol, retaining 95% nitron and black finishes with scattered light handling marks, edge wear, and light spotting on the slide and sights. Mechanically excellent.

Whitney Firearms Wolverine Semi-Automatic Pistol with Box

Lot # 666 (Sale Order: 663 of 664)

Excellent Whitney Firearms Wolverine Semi-Automatic Pistol with Box as Gifted to Contributing Writer Charles Petty from Inventor Robert Hillberg

Manufactured between 1955 and 1962 with a futuristic, space age design that utilized a cast aluminum frame in lieu of the standard steel frames of the day. The Wolverine was a straight blow-back design that used a round bolt inside the upper part of the frame with exposed cocking knobs on the rear of the frame and an exposed hammer. It was designed by Robert "Bob" Hillberg (1917-2012), an intuitive firearms designer who worked for High Standard Mfg. Co. as the head of research and development, and was involved in a number of different design projects including the COP .357 Derringer pistol and M37 machine gun. Features fixed front and rear sights, standard markings, and checkered Bakelite grips. Includes an original Whitney box signed on the front in sharpie "To my friend Charley Petty/Bob Hillberg" along with spare trigger parts. Charles E. Petty Jr. (1939-2022) was a contributing writer for several well-known firearms publications, and authored an article on the Whitney Wolverine which was featured in they March-April 1982 issue of "American Handgunner" magazine.

Rare Dardick Model 1100 Auto-Loading Revolver with Two Boxes of Trounds

Manufactured circa 1958-1962, the Dardick 1100 uses a novel combination of a fixed in-grip magazine, an open-sided auto-ejecting three chamber cylinder and a proprietary plastic-cased triangular cartridge dubbed the "tround".
