Ball & Williams Ballard Sporting Rifle

Manufactured from 1862 to 1865. Blade front sight, elevation adjustable rear sight and tang peep sight. The barrel is marked "BALL & WILLIAMS/Worcester Mass" on the top flat, "MERWIN & BRAY, AGT'S/NEW YORK" on the upper left flat and the Ballard's 1861 patent marking on upper right flat. Breechblock and barrel are numbered to gun. Nicely figured forearm and straight grip stock with crescent buttplate.

Fine. The barrel retains 30% original blue finish thinning to a brown with some minor spotting/pitting. The frame has faded mostly to a silver-gray. The revarnished wood is fine with a series of vice-like markings on the forearm and a number of minor pressure dents and scratches. Mechanically fine.

This example has a heavy octagon barrel with a Globe front sight and no rear sight dovetail. There is a tang mounted peep sight. The barrel is marked "CALIBRE 40/40-65". Fitted with a set of double set triggers. Mounted on a nicely figured, smooth walnut forearm with Schnabel tip and pistol grip stock with raised cheekpiece and checkered plastic buttplate.

Excellent, 99% of the original blue finish remains with a few scattered light handling marks and some minor oxidation and scratches on the front sight. 95% plus of the original case colors remain with some freckling on the lock plate and some wear on the lever. The wood is also excellent with only a few scattered light handling marks. Mechanically excellent.

Excellent. The rifle retains 97% original blue finish showing some minor thinning with a patch of minor pitting on the top rear of the frame and a few minor scratches on the right side of the frame. The wood is also excellent with a few minor handling marks and overall crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent. A truly outstanding Deluxe Winchester Model 1903 rifle!

Manufactured in 1941. Has the standard markings and features with a Lyman rear sight mounted to the left side of the receiver. The barrel has three scope/sight blocks mounted to it with a J.W. Fecker 30x scope mounted on the two rear blocks with Fecker aluminum scope rings. Mounted on a smooth walnut pistol grip target stock with forearm rail having a sling swivel and sling swivel/handstop, a rear sling swivel and a checkered steel buttplate. Comes with aluminum screw on lens covers.

Very fine, 95% plus of the original blue finish remains with wear on the bolt knob, some flaking on the trigger guard, some high edge wear and some scattered light handling marks. The slide for the rear sight is absent. The reoiled stock is fine with scattered scratches and dings. Mechanically excellent. The scope is very fine with minor wear, some oxidation at the center screw threads and clear optics.

Manufactured in 1956. Fitted with a Lyman globe front sight with orange insert, Lyman receiver sight, and a pair of scope mounting blocks on the barrel, with the standard model and caliber markings on the left side of the barrel and the "WP" proof on the barrel and receiver. Smooth pistol grip stock, with a mounting rail on the underside, with swivel removed, rear sling swivel, and a Pachmayr White Line recoil pad.

Excellent, with 98% of the original blue finish, showing some light handling marks overall. The Winchester proof on the receiver appears repeatedly stamped, possibly a factory error. Stock is very good, with some cracking of the varnish and mild handling marks. Mechanically excellent.

Mounted on a smooth walnut pistol grip target style stock with a checkered steel buttplate.

Excellent, 90% of the original blue finish remains with extensive flaking on the receiver and trigger guard with a brown patina on the exposed metal and some spotting/freckling on the barrel along with some scattered scratches and high edge wear. The stock is also excellent with some scattered scratches and dings. Mechanically fine.

Manufactured in 1933, the first year of production with the rare 20 inch barrel. The rifle has a fixed front sight with brass bead, an elevation adjustable sporting rear sight and standard Winchester markings including the factory proof on top of the barrel and receiver at the breech. Mounted on a smooth walnut forearm with endcap and pistol grip stock with steel buttplate. Left side of receiver has two drilled/tapped holes for scope mount.

Very fine. The rifle retains 85% original blue finish with a smooth gray patina on the balance. A few patches of minor spotting are present. The refinished wood is good with a repaired forearm, crude repair near the stock toe and a few minor handling marks. Mechanically excellent.

Late safety, straight receiver tang, quick release sling swivels, hollow bolt knob and hinged floor plate. Standard Winchester markings including "-SUPER GRADE-" on the floor plate and the Winchester factory proof on the left side of the barrel and receiver at the breech. Checkered Super Grade pistol grip stock with ebony forend cap, metal grip cap, cheekpiece, high comb and solid factory recoil pad.

Very fine as partially refinished (trigger guard). The rifle retains 95% plus original blue finish showing some loss at the muzzle, a few streaks of gray on the barrel and some minor scratches on the floor plate. A patch of pin point pitting and some minor dings are present on the barrel. The reoiled stock is also very fine with an oversize recoil pad, a few minor handling marks and overall crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent. The scope has clear optics.

Pre-war safety, cloverleaf receiver tang, sling swivels and polished bolt numbered to the gun. Checkered straight comb pistol grip stock fitted with a checkered steel buttplate.

Very fine as modified. The rifle retains nearly 97% original blue finish showing some minor loss at the muzzle and high edge wear on the buttplate. The underside of the barrel has an area of numerous small scratches. The reoiled stock is very fine with some minor pressure dents and scratches with overall crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent. Very fine. The rifle retains nearly 95% original blue finish showing a smooth gray patina mixed with blue on the buttplate, loss at the muzzle, a couple patches of gray and some speckling of patina (mostly on the floor plate). A series of minor scratches are present on the floor plate. The revarnished stock is fine as modified with an open receiver notch cut on left rear, some scattered minor handling marks and overall crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent. The scope has clear optics.

This is an excellent example of a Winchester Model 71 lever action rifle manufactured in 1936 the second year of production. Winchester manufactured approximately 47,000 of this model from 1935 to 1957. The left rear of the barrel is marked with the standard Winchester proof steel, model, trade mark and caliber information and the two-line address is on the right rear. The top of the barrel and receiver at the breech are marked with the Winchester oval proof. Hooded ramped blade front sight, filler block in the rear sight dovetail and it is equipped with a Lyman bolt mounted peep sight. All blue finish, half magazine tube and mounted with a checkered walnut semi- beaver tail forearm and pistol grip stock with a checkered steel buttplate and quick release sling swivels on the forend cap and stock.

Excellent. The rifle retains 98% original blue finish with loss limited to some flaking and wear on the lever. The wood is also excellent with a few scattered minor dents and handling marks, and crisp checkering. The markings are sharp. The action is excellent.

This is an excellent example of a later Winchester Model 07 high power semi-automatic rifle manufactured in 1954. The left side of the barrel is marked with the two-line address/proof steel, trade mark, model and caliber marking, and the top of the barrel and receiver at the breech are marked with the Winchester oval proof. The matching serial number is marked on the lower left rear of the receiver and on the bottom next to the trigger guard bow. The bottom of the magazine is marked "-.351 CAL-". Blade front and adjustable semi-buckhorn rear sights. Mounted with a smooth walnut forearm and pistol grip stock with a checkered steel buttplate and sling swivels. Complete with the original Winchester box numbered to gun.

Excellent. The rifle retains 98% original blue finish with a small ding on the muzzle and a few minor scratches on the receiver. The wood is also excellent with some light dings and handling marks. The markings are sharp. Mechanically excellent. The box is good showing some stains, a tape repair on one end of the lid, wear and a couple of tears.

Very fine. The rifle retains 95% original blue finish with some wear on the muzzle end of the barrel, some edge wear and some thinning to a smooth gray patina on the lever. The wood is fine with some finish loss and crazing around the rear edge of the stock (where the non-factory recoil pad was installed) and a number of small pressure dents on the right side of the forearm. The markings are crisp and clear. The action is excellent.
