Two Original DWM Model 1900 American Eagle U.S. Army Test Lugers with Original 1906 Dated Leather Ho

Lot # 1351 (Sale Order: 352 of 952)

Two Original DWM Model 1900 American Eagle U.S. Army Test Lugers with Original 1906 Dated Leather Holster and Custom Deluxe Double Luger Huey Company Display Case A) DWM Model 1900 American Eagle Test Luger Pistol

A) This is an excellent lot of not one, but "two" (2) all original and very rare, DWM Model 1900 American Eagle, U.S. Army "Test Luger" pistols with an original late production U.S. marked 1906 dated brown leather holster. These two ultra rare Lugers have been cased in a beautiful deluxe custom made, leather bound, walnut display case manufactured by the HUEY custom case company. The first pistol (SN 6069), is a beautiful example of one of the approximately 1000 test Lugers purchased by the U.S. Ordnance Department for troop trials with the U.S. Cavalry. In April 1900 the Ordnance Board authorized the order of 1000 DWM model 1900 Luger pistols, which were delivered in two separate lots; approximately 800 shipped 26 October 1901 (serial numbers approximately 6,100-7,100 range) with the remaining 200 shipped on Oct 29 1901 (serial numbers in the 7,200 range). This scarce pistol is serial number "6069" and falls slightly below the known U.S. Test Eagle serial numbers ranges, however it has the correct proof marks, indicating its originality. These test Lugers were actually produced expressly for the U.S. military when they were interested in selecting a replacement pistol for U.S. Army Model 1894 revolver chambered for the inadequate 38 Rimless cartridge. These Lugers were produced as a standard 1900 commercial Luger and were then hand selected at the DWM factory for shipment to the US Army. These Lugers are highly sought after by both German Luger collectors and U.S. martial handgun collectors as they are a key piece in any advanced collection. The most distinguishing features noted on these Test Eagle Lugers are, 1) there were no German acceptance proofmarks; 2) they lacked the typical "Germany" export markings usually found on the front of the frame or under the barrel; 3) some but not all of these test Lugers had a small German ordnance proof that resembled the U.S. Ordnance bomb proof, located inside the front frame recess area (which both of these pistols are correctly proofed) 4) the rounded portion on the opposite side of the takedown lever has the last two digits of the serial number, 5) sometimes this small DWM proof (similar to the US Ordnance proof) is stamped in front of the recoil lug located on the underside of the barrel extension and some but not all have the bottom of the wooden magazine base proofed. At the conclusion of these tests all these Lugers were deemed inadequate for U.S. military use and many were later sold to Bannermans' for resale. The top of the chamber area is correctly marked with the great Seal of the United States and are correctly serial numbered in the commercial fashion. They have all the early features such as a grip safety, old style frame, with short barrel extension, recessed breech bolt with flat extractor, dished toggles with toggle locks on the side. They have the full serial number located on the major components with the last two digits of the serial number on various smaller parts along with the backside of both grip panels. These Lugers have a deep rust blue finish with straw colored small parts. This excellent pistol is complete with a unmarked nickel plated magazine with an unmarked wooden base. This Luger as noted is complete with an original 1906 dated U.S. marked leather holster that was manufactured by the Rock Island Arsenal. This rare holster is identical to the original 1901 dated Test Eagle Luger holster however this example is marked on the back side "ROCK ISLAND/ARSENAL/1906/T.G." with the standard large embossed "US" inside the oval on the front flap. The back has the single large belt loop secured by two brass studs. As noted this excellent Luger pistol set is housed in a beautiful, leather bound, French fitted walnut display/storage case. The case holds both pistol, the original leather holster and a walnut ammunition block that holds 18 rounds of original ammunition (also included).

As noted this excellent Luger has the small DWM proof (Ordnance style Bomb proof) inside the frame recess, the underside of the front toggle area and on the underside of the barrel extension with the last two digits of the serial number on the rounded domed portion of the takedown lever. Desirable DWM Model 1902 Luger Carbine with Shoulder Stock

Lot # 1352 (Sale Order: 353 of 952)

Desirable DWM Model 1902 Luger Carbine with Shoulder Stock

This is an excellent example of an original DWM Model 1902 Luger carbine rig that is complete with the correct walnut shoulder stock. These carbines were an early attempt by DWM to a produce a light weight rifle substitute to compete with the Mauser Broomhandle carbines as well as all the other stocked pistols being manufactured in the later 19th and early 20th century in Europe. The unique Lugers have the desirable longer 11 3/4 inch barrel with DWM factory installed frame hanger that holds the small walnut forend. This forend is also unique in that it houses a small spring accelerator that helps cycle the heavier/longer carbine length during firing. These 1902 Luger carbines all have early rare features such as: the long old style frame, flat mainspring, grip safety, dished toggles with toggle locks, and the recessed/flat breech bolt with the small spring extractor. The top of the chamber is blank and the front toggle has the "Deutsche Waffen und Munitions Fabriken", DWM logo. The full serial number (24107) is stamped on the underside of the frame extension and barrel, with the last two digits of the serial number (07) stamped on the various other parts such as the recoil lug, side of the grip safety, trigger, takedown lever, side plate, breech bolt and toggle assembly with the forend numbered (3 107) inside the cutout for the frame extension and correctly matches the frame; the 3 is sideways and appears to be a sub inspector number. The grips are not numbered on the back side however each one has a small asterisk stamp on the back sides. As noted this excellent example of a Luger carbine has the original walnut shoulder stock with an original replacement attaching iron that is not numbered but matches the pistol perfectly. The pistol is complete with a single nickel plated magazine with an original unnumbered walnut base.

Condition: Very fine with 90% of the blue finish remaining with edge and high spot wear with wear and thinning on the grip straps. The walnut grips are in fine condition with nice original checkering with wear across the checkering with several light pressure dents on the right side with a slightly larger one on the left grip panel. The forend and stock are both in fine condition with only very minor handling marks with nice distinct checkering. As noted the replacement stock iron is unnumbered and it retains 90% of its original blue finish. A very nice example of a late production, rare DWM Model 1902 Luger Carbine.

Late Production World War II Nazi 42 Dated Mauser Banner Commercial Contract Semi-Automatic Luger

Lot # 1355 (Sale Order: 356 of 952)

Late Production World War II Nazi 42 Dated Mauser Banner Commercial Contract Semi-Automatic Luger

This is an excellent example of a desirable mid-WWII Commercial contract Mauser Banner P.08 Luger pistol. These Lugers were manufactured right up to the end of production just like the commercial K98 rifles and generally fall into 2-3 different types, standard commercial Luger, intended for sales within Germany sudo-military or police contract Lugers and commercial contracts for sales to other European countries such as Sweden, Portugal, etc. They usually exhibit excellent workmanship with a high quality all salt blue finish and in this case have the wartime black checkered plastic grips. The chamber is stamped "42" for 1942 (the last year the Luger pistol was manufactured) and the Mauser Banner trademark is stamped on the front toggle. This Luger is somewhat unusual in that it does not have any proof marks at all, so it may have been a late war assembly. The pistol is numbered in the military fashion with the full serial number (9238w) stamped only on the front of the frame with no number on the barrel or barrel extension. The last two digits of the serial number (38) are stamped on various small parts. It is complete with one, all blued, FXO proofed magazine with the pinned plastic base.

Condition: Excellent with 98% of the blue wartime finish remaining overall, with blue loss on the high spots. The grips are excellent overall with only minor handling marks. Mechanically excellent.

Lot # 1356 (Sale Order: 357 of 952)

Exceptional Early Production Three Digit Serial Number DWM Model 1900 Swiss Contract Luger Semi-Automatic Pistol

This is a beautiful example of an all original and very early production Model 1900 DWM Swiss Contract Luger. This is one of only 2,000 Model 1900 Swiss commercial Lugers manufactured, with this specific pistol being a fairly early production example. This early Swiss Luger was manufactured in one of the very first commercial contracts that were sold by the DWM factory. This early contract formed a bond between the DWM factory and Switzerland that lasted for the next 40 years. These early model 1900 Lugers have the early desirable features such as the early dished toggles with toggle lock, a flat/recessed breech bolt, early flat extractor, no stock lug, grip safety, early style larger flat safety lever with coarse checkering, early narrow trigger, flat mainspring and fast taper barrel that is 4 3/4 inches long. The top of the chamber area is stamped with the "Swiss Cross" in a Sunburst with "DWM "on the front toggle. The barrel extension has the "Swiss Cross/V" acceptance proof for "Herr Vogelsang" the Swiss inspector who was assigned to the DWM factory. The top and backside of the rear toggle, and the left side of the barrel all have the small Swiss Cross firing proof. This example still retains the original unmodified, early "V" notch rear sight. The front of the frame and underside of the barrel have the full serial number (778) of the pistol and the various small parts all are correctly numbered with the last two digits (78) of the serial number, to include the backsides of each grip panel. This early Swiss Luger pistol is complete with a correct Swiss style magazine that has the nickel plated magazine body, and unmarked wooden base with the small circular discs inset into each side of the base.

Condition: Excellent overall with 90% of the blue finish with edge, high spot and muzzle wear with some spotting on the grip straps. The grips are very fine with distinct checkering on both sides. Cased Factory Relief Engraved Walther Model 9 Semi-Automatic Pistol with Ivory Grips Attributed to A

Lot # 1357 (Sale Order: 358 of 952)

Cased Factory Relief Engraved Walther Model 9 Semi-Automatic Pistol with Ivory Grips Attributed to Adolf Hitler

This fine pistol features full coverage factory scroll-engraving in high relief with a lion's heads on each side of the slide. The engraving very closely resembles the engraving found on the Adolf Hitler PP shown on page 33 of Rankin's book "Walther Volume II Engraved, Presentation and Standard Models". This pistol, in Rankin's opinion, may have been engraved by the same person. The right side of the slide is marked with the one line address in a panel and "Walther's Patent Mod. 9" over the Walther banner are on the left side of the slide. The Walther banner is also found on the bottom of the magazine. The pistol was gold plated over the nickel finish. The pistol is fitted with smooth ivory grips with blue enamel medallions on each side with the caliber marked on one side and the Carl Walther logo on the other. The pistol is complete in a leatherette case with purple satin and velvet lining, an extra Walther marked magazine, an opened box of original period German 6.35 ammunition and a plain sealed box marked "25". The pistol is accompanied by a typed, unsigned letter dated January 1, 2000 briefly explaining that an official of the United States State Department, with the cooperation of the U.S. and British governments, helped himself to a myriad of German treasures after the formal surrender of the German forces on May 8, 1945. The official was said to have access to Hitler's yacht, the Aviso Grille, moored at Runsted Kanal, Schleswig-Holstein, the medieval castle of Veldenstein, Goring's 200 acre estate and hunting lodge north of Berlin, and to the homes of Himmler, Speer, Borman and others. All artifacts were shipped to the U.S. under diplomatic immunity. The pistol is reported to have been in storage in the U.S. since 1946. There is also a signed letter of provenance from noted Walther author and expert James Rankin describing the pistol and its attribution to Adolf Hitler and its engraving having been possibly done by the same engraver that engraved the Adolf Hitler Walther PP pistol. The letter also states that this pistol along with other firearms and pieces of memorabilia were purported removed from an area of Adolf Hitler's home at Obersalzberg.

Condition: Excellent. The pistol retains 99% of the original nickel finish with strong traces, 20% overall of gold remaining, mostly in the engraving and on the barrel sides. The ivory grips are excellent with a very pleasant soft tan coloring. The engraving and markings remain crisp. The case is very fine showing some age wear, minor scuffs and cracks and minor repairs to one end of lid. The lining is excellent. The extra magazine is very fine. An excellent cased factory engraved gold plated Walther Model 9 attributed to Adolf Hitler.

Rare Alcoso Production Nazi Diplomatic Officer's Dagger

Lot # 1359 (Sale Order: 360 of 952)

Rare Alcoso Production Nazi Diplomatic Officer's Dagger

First displayed in 1938 and adopted in 1939, the officials of the Foreign Ministry received one of two daggers, as the diplomats and administrators of captured territory were considered to be distinct from each other. 14 5/8 inches overall, with a 10 inch blade, darkened nickel hilt fittings with left-facing guard eagle, simulated yellow mother of pearl grips, and a darkened nickel sheath. A silver portapee with matching solid acorn is tied to the grip. This blade is attributed by the consignor to Arthur Seyss-Inquart, Nazi war criminal. Among other "distinctions", Seyss-Inquart, a lawyer in private life, was Chancellor of Austria for a grand total of 2 days, sending the invitational telegram that was the legal pretense for Hitler to initiate the Anschluss and then signing the papers for the hand-over of power, and overseeing the transfer of Southern Poland's Jewish population into the ghettos and suppression of local resistance movements. In 1940 he was appointed Reichskommissar of the Occupied Netherlands, where he was responsible for the Nazification of public life, press-ganging undesirables into forced labor, and deporting the Jewish population to camps such as Buchenwald, Auschwitz and Mauthausen. With the exception of the last 20 days of the war, which he spent as Foreign Minister of the post-Hitler government of Admiral Doenitz, he held his position in the Netherlands until the end of the War. Brought to justice at Nuremburg, he was sentenced to death for crimes against humanity and war crimes, and was the last man hanged on 16 October 1946.

Condition: Extremely fine, with fine grip, a few minor handling marks overall and a small amount of spotting on the blade. There also is some flaking of the plating on the tip of scabbard.

Unique Post World War I Weimar Imperial Navy/Nazi Navy Dual Issue Luger Semi-Automatic Pistol

Lot # 1363 (Sale Order: 364 of 952)

Unique Post World War I Weimar Imperial Navy/Nazi Navy Dual Issue Luger Semi-Automatic Pistol

This is a very scarce example of an early post WWI DWM Luger that was eventually reissued in 1933/34 time frame for the early Nazi Navy. The Luger started out as an early 1920 Commercial rework as it has the standard "Crown/N" commercial proofs on the left side of the barrel extension and breech block, and the blank chamber area. It was probably turned in compliance with the 1920 Reichswehr, retained by the military and rebuilt by the Simson and Co. and issued to the early Imperial German Navy and then the early Nazi Navy. Retains the original DWM markings on the front toggle. The right barrel extension has the 1920 era "SU/25" Simson/Ulbricht rework/repair proof mark followed by a Simson firing proof. The barrel is a replacement, the serial number is matching but the letter suffix is not and the number is a slightly different size. Correct single Simson firing proof used during this time on the left side of the barrel. Both indicate that the Luger was converted from the 7.65 mm to 9 mm Luger when reissued to the Imperial Navy. The Navy proof mark is on the left side of the frame, which is a panagraphed second pattern Nazi "Eagle/M", Navy proof that was used only in the 1933/34 time frame. The front grip strap is property marked "O.1096.", indicating issue to the Baltic Sea Fleet. Standard nickel plated magazine body with the wooden base that is marked: "6757".

Condition: Good with 50% of the much faded arsenal refurbished blue finish with even honest wear and thinning overall. The markings are clear and distinct with the Eagle/M proof on the side being sharp and distinct. The grips are very good overall with distinct checkering showing wear across the tops of the checkering. A very scarce variation with low production numbers that is seldom encountered.

Scarce Late Production World War II Nazi Mauser Model G-41(M) Semi-Automatic Rifle

Lot # 1364 (Sale Order: 365 of 952)

Scarce Late Production World War II Nazi Mauser Model G-41(M) Semi-Automatic Rifle

This is a very fine example of an early WWII German G-41(M) rifle as manufactured by the Mauser factory. These rifles were produced in 1941/42 in response to the request by the German Weapons office for a semi-automatic rifle. They used a version of the "Bang" gas trap gas system, with a muzzle cone on the end of the barrel to trap gas and cycle the action in a semi-automatic mode. Initially the action had to be charged using a 98K style bolt action function, instead of the traditional sliding cocking handle, which was then disengaged and the rifle functions in a normal gas-operated style using the gas trapped in the muzzle cone, to actually cycle the operating rod located under the barrel. The receiver is marked on top, with the small "Eagle 135" proof over "G-41(M)/1942" with the actual serial number of the rifle stamped on the left rear side of the receiver. The walnut stock is fitted with a cupped steel buttplate and short walnut top handguard. The left side of the buttstock has Nazi "Eagle/WaA135" Waffenamt proof with that same, but smaller proof on the pistol grip area and the serial number 12238 stamped on the underside of the stock. These are a very scarce today, as they were produced in very small numbers, early on in WWII when the Mauser factory was using the time consuming all machined parts and components with most of these rifles seeing considerable use throughout the war, especially on the eastern front.

Condition: Very fine with 75% of the original blue finish with wear on the edges and high spots with blue loss on the box magazine, and on the action cover and barrel bands. The stock and handguard are both fine showing numerous light pressure dents, dings and scratches. The proofs are clear and distinct with an old crack/repair directly behind the pistol grip. It has visible matching numbers. A solid example of a scarce early WWII G41(M) semi-automatic rifle.

Unique Documented Late World War II Last Ditch Nazi Presentation DWM VG1 Bolt Action Rifle

Lot # 1365 (Sale Order: 366 of 952)

Unique Documented Late World War II Last Ditch Nazi Presentation DWM VG1 Bolt Action Rifle

This is an extremely rare very late war rifle that was produced by the DWM factory in the Posen/Wartheland area of Poland and presented to the Gauleiter of Wartheland in early 1945 as indicated on the presentation plaque that is inletted into the right side of the buttstock. This exact rifle is pictured on page 152/153, in the book "Desperate Measures" by Darren Weaver. The plaque reads "Dem Fuhrer/DEM DEUTSCHEN VOLKSSTRUMES/GAU WARTHELAND/ Zum 22.1.1945/GauwirtSchaftsSkammer/Wartheland". A loose translation is: From The Economic Chamber of Commerce Wartheland to the Leader of the Peoples Army Wartheland. At this time the leader or Gauleiter of Wartheland was Obergruppenfuhrer Arthur Greisser, a brutal SS man who was an ardent Nazi and strict enforcer of the German ethnic cleansing policy in Europe. After the war Greiser was captured by the allies, tried, convicted of war crimes and was hung in Poland in July 1946. These late war rifles represented Germany's final attempt to manufacture a simple but serviceable weapon for the Volksturm and are extremely rare in any condition much less a presentation model. These rifles were to capitalize on the traditional turning and drilling operators in lieu of the costly and time consuming heavy machining of traditional rifle production. The receiver, bolt and barrel are all machined with the remaining parts being simple steel stampings or welded operations. This rifle does not have any standard markings or proofs however the top of the receiver ring has been roll-marked or engraved with the original style "DWM" factory logo inside a banner with the left side of the receiver stamped with three small "x" proofs or marks. The late war stock is made from beech or pine with the 1 1/2 inch X 2 inch silver presentation plaque, noted above, inletted into the right side of the stock. The stock is fitted with a simple flat sheet metal buttplate, cross-bolt and late war wire sling swivel on the front of the stock. The front sight is an unusual machined version that has been dovetailed into the front of the barrel. It has a ten round K-43 magazine marked "aye/WaAB43".

Condition: Fine as partially refurbished with 80% of the dark blue/black finish overall. The sides of the receiver shows areas of heavy pitting, which may have resulted from it being a poor casting during manufacture. The bolt is still in the semi-white finish and is marked "W1" on top. The stock as noted is made from beech or pine with no markings except for the small presentation plaque noted above. The refinished stock is in very good condition with no handling marks, but has been lightly cleaned or sanded to remove an old GI type varnish. A very rare and very unusual late WWII presentation rifle.

1936 Dated Krieghoff Luftwaffe Luger Semi-Automatic Pistol

This is an excellent example of a desirable pre-war Krieghoff Luger manufactured by the Heinrich Krieghoff company in the latter part of 1936. The "S" Code, "36" and "1936" marked or dated Krieghoff Lugers were manufactured in the largest serial number block of all the Krieghoff Lugers, with only 2,500 total being manufactured with the full "1936" date on top of the chamber. The Krieghoff Luger was the only Luger pistol that was officially accepted by the Luftwaffe throughout WWII and have always been highly sought after as one of the more desirable Lugers due their excellent fit and finish. The top of the chamber is marked "1936" with the front toggle marked with the late production die, type C-1 markings of "H, anchor, K/KREIGHOFF/SUHL", which has the round bottom "U" in SUHL, with the left tip of the anchor touching the bottom leg of the "H". The right side of the barrel extension has the large "LWaA" 1st Stage II proofmarks with the underside of the barrel having the bore diameter, the smaller size, full pistol serial number and the single Eagle firing proof. The right side of the barrel also has the single Eagle firing proof. The side of the breechblock and toggle assembly are correctly proofed with the small Krieghoff Eagle acceptance proofs along with the last two digits of the serial number. The pistol is finished in a high polish rust blue with straw colored small parts. It is currently fitted with a set of post-war orange/brown colored plastic non-factory checkered replacement grips. The backs have no markings other than the mold marks. This pistol is complete with a single nickel plated magazine with an aluminum base that is restamped with only the matching serial number and Luftwaffe proofmark.

Lot # 1368 (Sale Order: 369 of 952)

Scarce 1934 "K-Date" S/42 Code Nazi Luger with Rare 1934 Dated Holster

This is an excellent original 1934 Mauser production, "K" date "S/42" code military Luger pistol with an equally nice 1934 dated black leather holster. These "K Date" P.08 Lugers were all manufactured in 1934 and were the first pistols to use the secret "K" date markings; intended to conceal Germany's rearmament in violation of the Treaty of Versailles. These early Wehrmacht P.08 pistols have an extremely low survival rate as almost all saw extensive service use, on the Eastern front. Examples in original condition are among the most desirable Nazi Luger pistols. This example is classified as a Sub-variation 3 that has the mixed script and gothic markings. There were only 10,930 total "K" date luger manufactured and of that number only 3,850 were manufactured in the 5200-9100 serial number range. This example has the standard Script "K" date mark on the chamber area with the mixed Gothic "S" in S/42 marked on the front toggle. It has standard military marked serial number on the major parts in addition to the Script "S" proofmark. The right side of the barrel extension has the boxed "B/90 and B/91" acceptance stamps with an Eagle firing proof. The major components are all stamped with serial number "7262" and the last two digits on the smaller parts. This Luger is fitted with a set of standard walnut grips. The pistol is complete with one original "type 1" nickel plated Army magazines with aluminum base, that is stamped with a "Script/S/4530/+B/90" acceptance proofs. The small parts retain 30% of their straw colors. The grips are fine overall with nice original checkering on both sides, mixed with some handling marks and a few minor pressure dents in the middle of the grips. The holster is very fine with much of the black color overall showing only minor finish loss and scuff on the upper front edge of the flap and the lower toe area. The markings are crisp and clear inside. A very fine K-date Luger rig with matching numbers except the magazine.

Exceptional Pre-World War II Walther PPK In 22LR Complete with Original Walther Box and Accessories

Lot # 1369 (Sale Order: 370 of 952)

Exceptional Pre-World War II Walther PPK In 22LR Complete with Original Walther Box and Accessories

This is a fantastic example of an original unaltered pre-war Walther PPK pistol in the very desirable .22 LR caliber. This scarce caliber was manufactured through the Walther production cycle on a very limited basis for both commercial and military contracts. This is a late commercial production model that still retains the "Crown/N" proofmark on the barrel chamber, muzzle, and right side of the slide directly behind the ejection port, which falls right in line with the noted serial number range of those listed on page 70 in the book on Walther PP, and PPK pistols by James Rankin Vol 1. This pistol has the correct matching slide with the standard Walther banner followed by the two line legend including the caliber followed by "Mod. PPK". It has a 60 degree safety and fixed sights. The right front side of the trigger guard bow is stamped with a small property number "578". These were often a designation for a shooting club inventory. It has the original brown plastic checkered wrap around grips with the correct Walther factory magazine, blue finished with the brown finger extension on the bottom. Complete with the original matching Walther "woodgrain" factory box. The Walther banner, picture of the pistol and the "PPK" nomenclature are embossed on top of the lid and the right end has the original Walther factory label that has the matching serial number of "238502K" and "Cal. 22" affixed to the side. Inside the box is the original pre-war commercial Walther color instruction/owners manual, the original spare blue flat based magazine; the original Walther small tin cleaning kit which contains a small patch of cotton cleaning material, small bottle of oil and a cleaning brush.

Condition: Near new with only slight handling/storage marks. The breech face on the slide shows all of the original blue finish which would seem to indicate that the pistol may have only been factory test fired. The box is very good with each corner of the lid showing some separation and still retaining the original metal staples as well as some minor wear and flaking. There is some separation on the bottom of the box and the partition wall is loose. The markings are clear and the labels intact. The accessories are all excellent. A fantastic example of a like new pre-war Walther PPK pistol in the very desirable .22 LR caliber. This example would be impossible to upgrade on. Walther PPKs are rarer than PP version in 22LR and a complete serialized boxed PPK makes this an extraordinarily rare ensemble.

Beautiful Early Production Walther Factory Engraved Silver Plated Model PP Pistol

This is a beautiful example of an original presentation grade Walther factory engraved model PP pistol. This is an impressive example of Walther engraving using the early scroll and floral designed with geometric borders which covers virtually all the exposed metal surfaces. The factory markings are outlined with the scroll engraving with the trigger guard bow, the front and rear edges of the grip strap and various edges all exhibiting a geometric designed border, that tastefully blends with the engraving. The left side of the slide has Walther Banner, followed by the two line factory address/patent markings followed by "MOD PP". The pistol is a very early model that has the reversed serial number, (that reads from the bottom to the top) with a 90 degree safety. Rare 1902 Commercial DWM Fat Barrel Luger Semi-Automatic Pistol

Lot # 1372 (Sale Order: 373 of 952)

Rare 1902 Commercial DWM Fat Barrel Luger Semi-Automatic Pistol

This is a very fine example of a rare early commercial contract Model 1902 Fat Barrel Luger. This is a very scarce variation that was intermixed with the standard 1902 production Lugers and it is estimated that only about 600 were produced in total. The 1902 Lugers were manufactured in a specific serial number range, 22300 to 22400 and 22900 to 23500, and this pistol falls into the later production group, manufactured just prior to the 1902 Danzig test Lugers and the cartridge counter models. The Model 1902 was the first Luger chambered for the 9 mm cartridge with a 4 inch barrel and was generally intended for sales outside of Germany. The top of the chamber is blank, the toggle has the DWM logo, the right side of the barrel extension is unmarked and the left side has the early commercial Crown over "B and U" proofs. The bottom of the barrel has the Commercial Crown over "B, U and G" proofs along with the serial number and the front of the frame is marked "GERMANY" under the serial number indicating sale outside of Germany. It has the early recessed breech bolt, unmarked extractor, both the grip and thumb safety and the early dished toggles. The thumb safety functions in the upward position and the lower safety lever area is polished bright. The magazine is the correct early wooden base version. The matching partial serial number "88" is marked on the takedown lever, bottom of the side plate and rear toggle link. The small components are finished in straw and the pistol is fitted with checkered walnut grips.

Condition: Very fine. The pistol retains 75% original blue finish with some scattered minor thinning, muzzle and high edge wear, some minor pitting and spotting on the front left side of the barrel. 50% of the original straw colors remain on the small components. The grips are very good with some minor bruising and a few minor dings and handling marks. The barrel proofs are a bit weak, otherwise the markings are clear. The action is fine. A rare Commercial Model 1902 Fat Barrel Luger for the advanced Luger collector.

Custom DWM Model 1904 Style Navy Luger Pistol

Lot # 1373 (Sale Order: 374 of 952)

Custom DWM Model 1904 Style Navy Luger Pistol

This is an example of a custom assembled DWM model 1904 Style German Navy contract Luger pistol. Original 1904 Navy Lugers (this is not one of these!) were actually ordered in Dec. 1904, prior to any Luger pistol being adopted by the German Navy, as they were intended to be replacements for the old Reichs revolver and the German Navy High Command wanted replacements ordered immediately. It is estimated that originally the German Navy ordered 2,000 pistols, with only a very few surviving examples known to date. Those that are encountered generally fall into the third serial number block, between "144-1148" with only "21" original surviving examples known today in the world! Obviously original 1904 Navy Lugers are an extremely rare piece and are never found in any Luger collection. This recreated example has the 1904 Navy style one-piece spring toggle lock mechanism on the right side, standard Navy proofs and the distinctive 15 cm "Fat Barrel" configuration which was quickly dropped from production, the flat double frame spring, and the later two-position Navy type rear sight. It has the standard blank chamber area, "DWM" marked toggle, standard extractor markings with the polished lower safety area with the upper area having the milled, "GESICHERT" markings. The back strap is stamped "W.W./127", indicating it was issued out of the Imperial Naval dock yard at Wilhelmshaven. It is complete with a later production Navy magazine that has the nickel plated magazine body with the correct wooden base with the correct concentric rings on the sides. The base is restamped with the "Crown/M" proof over "574". As noted original 1904 style Navy Lugers are extremely rare as all were destroyed or at least reworked after WWI to comply with the Versailles Treaty.

Condition: Fine as custom fabricated and assembled to resemble an original 1904 Navy Luger pistol, with most of its current blue finish overall. The markings are clear and distinct. It has the correct style larger 15 cm, 6 inch, Navy style barrel with the restamped Navy proofs on the barrel extension and barrel. The grips are very good with nice distinct checkering on both sides.

Lot # 1374 (Sale Order: 375 of 952)

Desirable Production Early DWM Model 1902 American Eagle Luger Fat Barrel Pistol

This is an example of a desirable early DWM Model 1902 American Eagle Luger pistol chambered in the 9 mm Luger cartridge that is fitted with the scarce short fat barrel configuration. This model was a continuation of the earlier 1902 commercial Lugers intended for the U.S. market with only 600-700 being made in this configuration. This pistol has the new style frame with coil leaf springs and no stock lug, recessed breechblock, dished toggles with toggle locks and grip safety. The barrel extension is also the short old model with the top of the chamber area with the American Eagle roll markings with the front toggle marked with the "DWM" logo. Serial numbered in a commercial manner with the full serial number "22565" on the front of the frame, and underside of the barrel. The partial serial number "65" on the various small parts. The underside of the barrel, left side of the barrel extension and toggle assembly all have the correct commercial proofs, "Crown/B" and "G". The lower safety position is unmarked and polished bright with the extractor correctly unmarked. This Luger is complete with one original wood base nickel plated magazine that is stamped on the base with a script "Cal 9m/m".

Condition: Very fine as professionally restored with 95% of the mostly original blue finish remaining with refinished blue present in the front of frame. The frame was restamped during the restoration process. The grips are very fine. Mechanically excellent. A very nice example of a desirable restored DWM Model 1902 fat barrel Luger pistol.
