Colt Second Generation Single Action Army Revolver with Factory Letter

According to the included factory letter, this revolver was shipped on December 27, 1967 as a single item to Harris Arms Company of Pontiac, Michigan, with the caliber, barrel length, finish and grips confirmed. One line Hartford address on top of the barrel with "COLT SINGLE ACTION ARMY .45" on the left. The left side of the frame has the two line, three date patent mark followed by the Rampant Colt. The matching serial number on the frame, cylinder and grip straps under the grip, and the assembly number "175" on the loading gate.

Condition: Excellent, with 90% of the original blue finish, showing some muzzle and high edge wear, some gray patina on the grip straps and cylinder, and scattered handling marks. There is a small dent on top of the front sight. 95% bright and vivid case colors are present on the frame, especially strong in the protected areas around the front and the recoil shield, with gray and brown showing on the high points. The grips are numbered to another gun, otherwise very good with some light dents and crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent.

Condition: Excellent, with 99% of the original blue and casehardened remaining finish, showing some light handling marks overall. Case colors are very bright and vivid overall, showing only a small amount of wear. The grips are excellent, with a few minor scratches and sharp checkering. Mechanically excellent.

Manufactured in 1979. Standard markings and features. Matching serial number on frame and left side of grip straps under the grip and fitted with smooth walnut grips numbered to the gun. Accompanied by a factory letter that confirms the configuration and that it was shipped to House-Hassen Hardware in Knoxville, Tennessee on June 28, 1979. Complete with factory "wood grain" box numbered to the gun.

Condition: Excellent. The revolver retains 99% plus of the original nickel finish with a few very light handling marks and a couple of very minor scratches on the top of the barrel. The grips are also excellent with a couple of very light handling marks. The box is very good with edge/corner wear and some tearing at the end flap seams.

Colt Second Generation Single Action Army Revolver

Manufactured in 1960. Patridge blade front and notch rear sights, with "COLT SINGLE ACTION ARMY .45" on the left side of the barrel, one-line Hartford address on top, and the patent dates and Rampant Colt on the left side of the frame. Matching numbers on the frame and grip straps, with "32" on the loading gate and frame.

Condition: Very good, with 75% of the original blue finish, showing areas of smooth brown patina, mixed brown and gray on the grip straps, bright edge wear and scattered handling marks and spotting. The frame retains 50% vivid original case colors with the balance fading to a silver gray. The grips are good as numbered to another gun, with some minor dents and scuffs, and crisp checkering. The firing pin has been reshaped, and the hammer experiences some drag just ahead of the safety notch, otherwise mechanically good. The markings are crisp and clear.

This Colt Single Action Army is one of a special run of 500 all blue 7 1/2 inch barrel .45 revolvers manufactured by Colt in the late 1970s. This example was manufactured in 1977. Standard markings and features. Grip straps and grips numbered to the gun. Complete with "woodgrain" factory box with no label.

Condition: Excellent. The revolver retains 99% plus of the original blue finish with very slight handling/storage marks. There is a very small area of finish loss on the right side of the frame. The grips are also excellent with a small chip on the right toe and overall light handling/storage marks. Mechanically excellent. The box is good.

Marked with the Colt one line New York address on top of the barrel, "COLT'S/PATENT" on the left side of the frame and "36 CAL" on the left side of the trigger guard shoulder. Casehardened loading lever, frame and hammer. Blue barrel and cylinder, trigger guard and back strap. Fitted with a smooth walnut grip. Complete with walnut shoulder stock with brass furniture and a wood display case with blue velvet lining.

B) Issued by the United States Historical Society, this is a fully functional, non firing, fine quality 1:2.125 scale miniature of the Colt Model 1851 Navy percussion revolver. Marked with the Colt one line New York address on top of the barrel, "COLT'S/PATENT" on the left side of the frame and "36 CAL" on the left side of the trigger guard shoulder. Casehardened loading lever, frame and hammer. Blue barrel and cylinder. Brass trigger guard and back strap. Fitted with a smooth walnut grip. Extremely Rare Documented Cased Set of Two Engraved and Nickel Plated Consecutively Numbered Colt Bl

Extremely Rare Documented Cased Set of Two Engraved and Nickel Plated Consecutively Numbered Colt Black Powder Series 1860 Fluted Cylinder Army Percussion Revolvers with Factory Letter Ivory Grips and Accessories -A) Colt 1860 Army Revolver


A) There were only 10 of these beautiful revolvers manufactured by the Colt Custom Shop. This revolver has expertly executed "C" coverage of American floral scroll engraving with a punch dot background performed by John Adams Sr. The hammer is also engraved with the wolf's head design on both sides. Fitted with a smooth one piece ivory grip. The factory letter confirms the configuration of both revolvers and states that they were shipped to Armsmear II in Anaheim, California on December 20th, 1991. There is also a letter from John Adams Sr. stating he engraved this revolver for the Colt Custom Shop, that this revolver was ordered by Al Brichaux and that he shipped it back to Colt on 3/22/1991. These revolvers come with a copy of and are pictured in the book "Colt and Its Collectors" on page 346. With the original box numbered to the gun, a two gun walnut Colt case lined in royal blue velvet, an empty cap tin, a two cavity bullet mold, a nipple wrench/screwdriver, a powder flask and a Colt Black Powder Series 1860 Army accessory box.

Cased Set of Two Boxed Factory Engraved Gold Inlaid Second Generation Colt Percussion Revolvers with Ivory Grips Factory Letters and Accessories -A) Colt Third Model Dragoon Revolver


A) This limited edition set is number 26 of 50 manufactured. These revolvers have extremely well executed "C" coverage floral scroll engraving with a punch dot background. The engraving covers most of the barrel, barrel lug, frame, trigger guard bow, butt and back strap with the sides of the hammer engraved with the wolf's head design. There is a gold band inlaid at the muzzle and rear of the barrel, a gold wire inlaid border around the outside of the frame and "1 of 50" is inlaid in gold on the right side of the frame. Underneath the serial number of the trigger guard is stamped "SET No 26". Fitted with a set of smooth ivory grips with gold Colt medallions. The factory letter confirms the configuration, that it came with a two gun walnut display case and that it shipped to Jerry Berman and Sons on May, 24th, 1979 with the "B" gun. With the walnut Colt two gun display case mentioned in the letter, the original box numbered to gun, an engraved nipple wrench/screwdriver, a powder flask, a bullet mold and an empty cap tin.

B) Similar to the "A" gun, with the same accessories and in the case with "A". Factory letter confirms configuration and that it was shipped to Jerry Berman and Sons on May 24th, 1979 with the "A" gun. With the factory box numbered to the gun.

Cased Alvin A. White Engraved Second Generation Colt 1851 Percussion Revolver with Factory Letter and Accessories

This example has masterfully executed floral scroll engraving on the rear portion of the barrel, barrel lug, sides of the loading lever, frame, butt, top of back strap, bottom of back strap and on the cylinder between the nipples. Incorporated into the floral scroll engraving on the left side of the barrel lug is a Native American's head. The top of the barrel has a blue panel with "Saml. Colt" highlighted in gold. The hammer is engraved with the wolf's head motif on both sides. The front strap has a round trigger guard and the left side is stamped with two different A.A. White markings under the grip. The barrel, loading lever, cylinder and hammer are gold plated, with the frame, front strap and back strap silver plated and the screws, trigger and nipples are blue. Fitted with a smooth one piece walnut grip. The factory letter states the finish was 'In the White', the type of stocks as "Not Listed", that it was shipped to "A.A. White Engravers Inc." on October 23rd, 1972, that all 15 revolvers had consecutive serial numbers and that round trigger guards were preferred. With a leatherette hardcase, a silver plated powder flask, a silver plated two cavity bullet mold and a silver plated nipple wrench/screwdriver.

Condition: Professionally embellished, all of the gold plated finish remains with some scattered light scratches, some ramrod scratches and some minute muzzle wear. All of the silver plated finish remains with only some scattered minor scratches. The grip is excellent with some light scratches and high edge wear. The case is excellent. The accessories are all very good or better with some edge wear and some minor pitting under the finish.

Presentation Cased Factory Engraved A.A. White Signed Colt Second Generation 1861 Navy Percussion Re

Presentation Cased Factory Engraved A.A. White Signed Colt Second Generation 1861 Navy Percussion Revolver with Accessories and Factory Letter

Manufactured between 1980 and 1981 this revolver features Type "C" vine style engraving on the barrel, frame, cylinder, recoil shields, hammer, trigger guard and the top of the back strap. The loading lever is engraved with a special checkered design on the round section and the vine style on the flats. "Presented to William H. D. Goddard/by Colt Firearms-February 9,1986" is linecut engraved in old style engraver's script down the back strap. "A.W.W." is marked on the backstrap underneath the right grip panel. This revolver was awarded to Mr. Goddard for presenting the Best Colt Display at the 1986 Las Vegas Antique Arms Show. Standard markings for the model with a silver plated trigger guard and backstrap. Fitted with checkered ivory grips numbered to the gun and the Custom Shop order number. Accompanied with a factory letter that confirms the serial number, caliber, configuration and that it was factory engraved by Master Engraver, A. A. White. The letter also confirms that it was shipped with a Mahogany presentation case to William H.D. Goddard in Providence, R.I. on August 19, 1986. Complete with the Mahogany presentation case with presentation plaque, powder flask, nipple wrench and cap tin.

Condition: Near new with a few very light handling marks. All of the case colors remain. The silver is excellent, slightly darkened with age. The grips are excellent with crisp checkering with a very pleasant patina and pattern. The case is excellent with a few light corner and edge marks. The lining shows only light wear. The accessories are excellent.

There were only 25 of these 3rd Model Dragoon engraving samplers manufactured. The barrel has "contemporary" floral scroll engraving, the barrel lug and frame have Helfricht style floral scroll, the cylinder has Nimschke style floral scroll, and the trigger guard bow and the butt have Henshaw style floral scroll engraving. The top of the back strap is engraved with the 150th anniversary Rampant Colt logo and down the back strap is engraved "Colt Engraving Sampler". The hammer is engraved with the wolf's head design on both sides. Fitted with a smooth one piece ivory grip with "R. Henshaw 1831/L. Nimschke 1850-1900/C. Helfricht 1871-1921/Contemporary" scrimshawed on the left side. With two factory letters that confirm configuration and that it was shipped to Stacy Williams Company on October 12th, 1988. Also comes with the original Colt Custom Shop box numbered to the gun.

Condition: Near new with only a few light handling/storage marks overall. The box is very good with creases, stains and the label is peeling.

Two John J. Adams Jr. Engraved and Silver Plated Colt Second Generation 1851 Navy Percussion Revolvers with Tiffany Style Grips Commissioned by Jeff Faintich -A) Colt Black Powder Series 1851 Navy Revolver


A) This beautifully engraved revolver has "C" coverage in the Colt/American style performed by John. J. Adams Junior. The sides of the frame and barrel lug have nearly full coverage, the flat sides of the loading lever and the forward 3/4s of the round section are engraved, the hammer is engraved with the wolf's head design, and there are flourishes of floral scroll engraving on the muzzle, trigger guard bow and between the nipples on the cylinder. On the left side of the barrel lug inside the scroll is a dog's head and on the right side in the scroll is a fouled anchor. Fitted with a silver plated Tiffany style grip. With a letter from Adams & Adams Custom Engraving authenticating the engraving, the Tiffany style grip, that they were silver plated by The Gold Line in Wolcott, Connecticut, that they worked on them from 4-6-94 to 8-20-94 and that Jeff Faintich commissioned the set. With a mismatched Colt "woodgrain" box.

Collector's Lot of Two Cherry's Sporting Goods Shipped Colt Second Generation Third Model Dragoon Percussion Revolvers with Original Boxes -A) Cased Ken Hurst Master Engraved Gold and Silver Wire Inlaid Colt Third Model Dragoon Revolver with Documentation


A) This revolver was originally destined to be a Garibaldi special edition, but approximately 94 guns left the factory by mistake partially in the white. Cherry's Sporting Goods sent this example to Ken Hurst for embellishment. There is nearly full coverage floral scroll engraving on the cylinder, frame and barrel lug with flourishes of floral scroll engraving on top of the barrel, the sides of the loading lever and on the back strap. The sides of the hammer, the screw heads and the thick side of the wedge have some decorative engraving. There is a gold wire inlaid band at the muzzle, around the outside edge of the barrel lug, around the outside edge of the frame, along the rear edge of the cylinder and on the outside edge of the hammer. There is a silver wire inlaid band around the rear of the barrel, the front of the cylinder and on the recoil shield. The screws and barrel wedge are niter blue. The loading lever is signed "K. HURST". Fitted with a smooth walnut one-piece grip. With a letter from Cherry's Sporting Goods explaining the gun and engraving, a walnut Colt case lined in royal blue velvet, a nipple wrench/screwdriver, an empty cap tin, a two cavity bullet mold, a powder flask and the original box numbered to the gun.

Condition: Near new as professionally embellished, all of the high polish blue finish remains with only a few light handling/storage marks along with some oxidation on the underside of the forcing cone and top of the cylinder pin. The wedge has some minor marks on the thin side. The casehardened components retain all of the bright fiery case colors. All of the bright nitre blue finish remains on the screws and wedge. The slightly undersized grip is excellent. The case and accessories are excellent with only some minor scattered marks. The box is good with edge wear, creases and tape.

B) This is one of the 94 Garibaldi commemorative revolvers that left the factory partially in the white. This example has not been altered from when it left the factory. With a factory letter confirming the configuration, that it was shipped to Cherry's Sporting Goods on August 14th, 1987 and that there were 94 guns in the shipment. With the original box numbered to the gun.

Unique Factory Advertising Dennis Kies Master Engraved U.S. Fire Arms Mfg. Co. Model 1860 Army Revolver with Two Factory Letters and Colt Accessories

This example was engraved in the Gustave Young style by Master Engraved Dennis Kies. There is a large amount of floral scroll engraving with a dog's head on each side of the barrel lug and the wolf's head motif on the sides of the hammer. The loading lever is checkered at the end. Fitted with a smooth burl walnut one piece grip. The factory letters confirm the configuration, that it was shipped to Blythe's Sport Shop on June 23rd, 2004, that only 500 1860 Army revolvers were manufactured, this was the only one known to have been engraved and that this specific gun appeared in many company catalogs. With a boxed set of Colt Black Powder Series accessories including a powder flask, nipple wrench/screwdriver, a two cavity bullet mold and an empty cap tin along with a mismatched U.S. Fire Arms black box and shipping sleeve.

Condition: Excellent, the revolver remains mostly bright with areas of scattered freckling and some small patches of oxidation in protected areas. The grip is also excellent with only a few minor marks. The Colt accessories and box are excellent. The U.S.F.A. box is good.

Cased Alvin A. White Engraved and Signed Silver and Gold Plated Colt Second Generation First Model D

Cased Alvin A. White Engraved and Signed Silver and Gold Plated Colt Second Generation First Model Dragoon Percussion Revolver with Factory and R. L. Wilson Letters

This example has a profuse amount of "Donut" style scroll engraving on the rear section of the barrel, the barrel lug, the sides of the loading lever, the frame, the trigger guard bow, the back strap and the butt. The hammer is engraved with the wolf's head design on each side and the wedge has little flourishes of engraving on each end. The barrel, frame and grip straps are silver plated with the loading lever assembly, cylinder and hammer gold plated. The wedge, screws and trigger are nitre blue. The right side of the front strap is stamped "AWHITE" underneath the nicely figured smooth walnut one piece grip. The R. L. Wilson letters states the revolver was manufactured circa 1985, that it was purchased in the white from the factory, that it was custom engraved by Alvin A. White in the Donut scroll style and that it is signed on the left side of the front strap "AW". The factory letter does not mention any special features and states that it was shipped to Sportsmans Emporium, Ltd. On December 17th, 1980 with the finish as "Blue" and the type of stocks as "Not Listed". With a Colt Custom Shop walnut case lined in wine colored velvet and a Colt Black Powder series box numbered to another gun.

Condition: Near new as professionally embellished, 98% plus of the silver plated finish remains with some spots of flaking at the muzzle and a few light handling marks. All of the gold finish remains with a few light handling marks and a faint partial drag line on the cylinder. 80% of the nitre blue finish remains on the screws and trigger. The grip is excellent with a few light scratches. The case is excellent with some scattered scratches and dings. The box is very good.

This example has a large amount of floral scroll engraving on the barrel, barrel lug, frame and back strap with flourishes of floral scroll on the sides of the loading lever, trigger guard bow, butt and on the sides of the hammer. Fitted with a one piece ivory grip with the Mexican eagle carved on the left side. With a glass lidded walnut display case and Colt Signature Series accessories consisting of an empty cap tin, a powder flask, a two cavity bullet mold and a screwdriver/nipple wrench.

Condition: Professionally embellished, the barrel retains 99% plus of the blue finish with some very minor pitting visible under the finish on the top flat. The cylinder retains 95% plus of the original blue finish with some wear on the face of the cylinder and a slight drag line. 99% of the bright fiery case colors remain. 90% plus of the silver plated finish remains on the grip straps with some wear on the heel, near the screw holes at the top and some minor flaking near the engraving. The ivory grip is very good as stained with several age cracks. The case is good with scattered scratches, dings and wear.

A) This revolver has floral scroll engraving on the barrel lug, sides of the loading lever, frame, trigger guard bow and back strap. The hammer is engraved with a wolf's head on each side, both ends of the wedge are engraved and there is a dog's head incorporated into the floral scroll on the left side of the barrel lug. Fitted with a smooth one piece ivory grip. The factory letter states that the finish was "Blue / Color Case", that the type of stocks were "Wood" and that it was shipped to Ashland Shooting Supplies on January 17th, 1974. The top flat barrel marking and the frame patent marking have been removed and have been engraved. The consignor's notes indicate that George Sherwood performed the floral scroll engraving on both revolvers and that Jeff Collins applied the "black nickel" finish on both revolvers. With a two gun walnut Colt case lined in wine colored velvet, a two cavity bullet mold, a screwdriver/nipple wrench, an empty cap tin and a powder flask.

A) This revolver has beautifully executed class "B" floral scroll engraving covering the rear section of the barrel, barrel lug, sides of the loading lever, frame, trigger guard bow, top of back strap and the bottom of back strap. The sides of the hammer are engraved with the wolf's head motif. The muzzle has a single gold inlaid band and the left side of the barrel lug has a gold inlaid Rampant Colt. The grip straps are silver plated and fitted with a one piece ivory grip. The factory letter verifies the configuration, that it was engraved by A. A. White Engraving Company, that it was shipped to Stacy Williams Co. on October 23rd, 1986 on Custom Shop order #1791, that the shipment included a matching quantity of Third Model Dragoons and 16 two drawer walnut presentation cases. With a walnut two drawer presentation case, powder flask, empty cap tin, two cavity bullet mold, screwdriver/nipple wrench and a book titled "Colt and Its Collectors" that shows both revolvers on page 348.

The book is also excellent with some creasing of the dust jacket. A rare set as only 16 sets came in a two drawer display case!

B) This Dragoon is adorned with similar engraving and gold inlay to the 1851 Navy revolver above. It comes with a factory letter confirming configuration, that it was engraved by the A. A. White Engraving Company, that it was shipped to Stacy Williams Co. on October 23rd, 1986 on Custom Shop order #1813, that the shipment included a matching quantity of 1851 Navies and 16 two drawer walnut presentation cases, and there is a letter from John J. Adams Sr. stating he performed the engraving in his shop in November of 1980. With the original box numbered to the gun, a large powder flask, a two cavity bullet mold, an empty cap tin and a screwdriver/nipple wrench.

The factory letter confirms the configuration, the type of stocks is "Not Listed", the engraver's name is "Not Listed", that it was shipped to Sports Inc. on September 2nd, 1983 on Custom Shop order #1863, that there was a second revolver on order #1863-A and that there was a presentation case designed to hold both revolvers. With a single gun hardwood case, powder flask, two cavity bullet mold, a nipple wrench/screwdriver and a Colt Black Powder Series Baby Dragoon accessory box.
