Good with rubbing on cover, ex-lib. Puddefoot is probably best known for his book, Hewers of Wood, however this work contains much information on his experiences in northern Michigan during the last century and includes a number of photos of northern Michigan scenes. Also included are a number of recollections of experiences by other missionaries in the west and the south.

Fair condition with just worn boards and spotting, binding solid. 2 vols.: iv, 13-201; 213 p. 18 cm. Mackintosh was a Scottish jurist, politician and historian. Remarkably, he was trained as a doctor and barrister, but also worked as a journalist, judge, administrator, professor, and philosopher. His account of his many careers is well worth reading.

Measuring 9 1/2" by 6". The end sheets are printed paper with a silk placement ribbon sewn-in at the head of the spine. All three edges of the text block are in gilt. Containing 182 pages of text. Illustrations by Pat Morrissey and with an introduction by Isaac Asimov. One of the volumes in The Easton Press' collection of The Masterpieces of Science Fiction. Very good condition however, there is a small stain about a inch long on the inside cover.

He was the founder of the Free Will Baptist movement in America.
