October 1930 in nice shape. Contains the beginning of The Dude Ranger by Zane Grey. January 1929 binding in rough shape but intact. Little bit of page edge tears, mostly bottom corners. In this issue: Temple Bailey, Laurence Stallings, Alexander Woollcott, James Francis Dwyer, Claudia Cranston and Grace Torrey. April 1926 issue, nice condition with 1.5 inch tear on cover at bottom. In this issue read Basil King’s message to you. October 1926, some wear with small rips at page edges. Has a copy of a painting of Queen Victoria on the cover and begins Gene Stratton-Porter’s Last Novel. November 1929, stained cover (vintage something but not sure what), some rips, tears folded page bottoms. In this issue What Right with America? By Sinclair Lewis-Will Durant, Going Home by Marion Talley and A new novel of golden youth by Lynn and Lois Montross. September 1928, some page edge wear, a little folding of page bottoms but in pretty good condition for its age. How To Do Without Women by Commander Richard E. Byrd and stories by Rafael Sabatini, Rudyard Kipling, Ethel M. Dell, Beatrice Grimshaw, Fannie Kilbourne and “Why Did I Do It?” by Amelia Earhart.

These are in pretty good condition considering their age, with some stains, markings, little rips and tears, folded page edges and the like. November 1924 issue this is the 25th Anniversary issue. August 1924 issue, December 1927 issue, March 1927 with back cover present but detached.

The New York Fashion Bazar July 1881 Published by George Munro, NY. Showing its age but intact with some minor page edge rips. New York and Paris Young Ladies’ Fashion Bazar March 1892. Many rips and in pretty rough condition with front two pages not intact.

All in pretty good condition except March 23,1943 with Lieut. Clark Gable on front cover. This one must have been looked at a bit, the front and back cover are detached from the binding staple. March 9, 1943 issue, February 23, 1943 issue (front three pages bottom corners folded, stain on front cover, probably vintage coffee. May 5, 1942 issue. Three issues have the complete mailing address label on them. I found this interesting as the address is just name of recipient, Rt.2 with the town, state and no zip code. Born in the late 50’s, I don’t remember a time when addresses did not need a zip code.

Woman’s Home Companion March 1931 (176 pages pretty good shape). The American Boy-Youth’s Companion April 1935. Cover article “Good-by, Babe Ruth!” by H.G. Salsinger. No torn pages, in pretty nice condition actually. Ladies’ Home Journal July 1933. In nice condition with few page edge tears, cover has one 2.5 inch tear from binding edge. Pictorial Review March 1923 pretty rough condition missing covers and some of the front pages and possibly some back pages. Last two pages included here are detached but present. (Starts at page 19 and ends at page 154). I loved looking at the advertisements in these old magazines. Pippa thought I was crazy for taking a picture of a Kotex ad from the 1923 edition of Pictorial Review, personally I thought it was a great ad and a great show of how things have changed. 12 regular size for .65 almost brought tears to my eyes but some of the rest of the ad I found good humor in, such as…”Kotex meet the most exacting needs, and are easy to dispose of by following simple directions found in each package. They are cheap enough to throw away.” When Pippa reads this, it may be the first and last auction she lets me build.

The Delineator is a monthly magazine illustrating metropolitan fashions. Some rips and tears and aging. Issue dates included in this lot… April 1882, June 1882, July 1882, August 1882 and January 1883 (this one is missing the front cover).
Magazines: The Sunday Times September 1, 1968 from London
A couple of wrinkled pages (front and back). Some math figures on the back cover (probably before calculators became affordable), back cover has one tear and something has been cut out of the crossword page. Cover picture is titled “Four Lads Likely to Succeed” and pictures 9 year old Paul McCartney, 7 year old Richard Starkey, 8 year old George Harrision and 9 year old John Lennon. Article on the Beatles and more pictures inside, including Pete Best. An article titled “America’s German Miracle” is about the Sky Scrapers of Chicago.
