Solid domed bisque socket head with chubby face, sculpted blonde forelock, topknot and side curls, large brown glass side-glancing googly eyes, thick black eyeliner, short dark curly lashes, dot brows, little button-shaped nose, closed mouth in thin-lipped smile with impressed dimples at each lip corner, sculpted blue wing below each ear, composition chubby toddler body with plump tummy, jointing at shoulders and side hips and knees of short legs, starfish-shaped hands. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: Ges Gesch O'Neill JDK 12 (head) O'Neill (signature on foot). Comments: Kestner, circa 1912, from the original Kewpie designs by Rose O'Neill. Value Points: finest bisque and painting, superb sculpting of hair, original body and body finish. Each has bisque socket head with uniquely sculpted face depicting a mischievous lad, small blue or brown glass flirty eyes, very thick brown or black "comma" shaped brows with sculpting detail, laughter crinkles around the eyes, upturned rounded nose with accented nostrils, beaming smile on closed mouth, accented lips, impressed dimples, red or black mohair wig, uniquely sculpted body with jointing at shoulders, elbows, hips and knees, pointing fingers, sculpted stockings and black or brown shoes with upturned toes, wonderful vintage festive harlequin costume. French Bisque Bebe "H" by Aristide Halopeau in Original Burgundy Silk Ensemble 30,000/40,000

Pressed bisque socket head with very full cheeks and chin, blue glass paperweight inset eyes with spiral threading and darker blue outer rims, dark eyeliner, painted curly lashes, mauve-blushed eye shadow, brush-stroked brows with feathered detail, accented eye corners, shaded nostrils, closed mouth with defined space between the outlined shaded lips, pierced ears, blonde mohair wig over cork pate, French composition and wooden fully jointed body with straight wrists. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: 3 H. Comments: Aristide Halopeau, circa 1880. Halopeau, the successor to the prominent Barrois doll firm in 1877, just as the bebe was entering the limelight of doll popularity, commissioned a unique bebe model which was created at the Frayon porcelain firm and hand painted by the famed Parisian painter, Barnard; only one model was ever sculpted and few of these created, according to extant examples found today.
