Adolf Sehring (1930 - ) Adolf Sehring was born in Russia, educated in Germany, and became a United States citizen when his family immigrated to start a better life. As a young man, Sehring served as a division artist in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. He developed a realistic style, painting what he saw as "the simple America; not the sophisticated city but the humble country folk." His style has been compared such American visionaries as Winslow Homer, and Andrew Wyeth. Today Sehring is considered one of the greatest living American realists, and his originals sell for upwards of $350,000. His work can be found in the Victoria and Albert Museum, Grand Palais in Paris, Ayala Museum of Virginia, U.S. Embassy to Sweden, The Chrysler Museum, Museum of St. Mary's, the U.S. State Department, and many other private and public collections. He is also the only American artist commissioned by The Vatican to Paint an Official Portrait of Pope John Paul II.
