One of a Kind Prototype Tweety & Sylvester Sericel

Lot # 19709 (Sale Order: 561 of 604)

This is an one of a kind Tweety & Sylvester, prototype sericel.  It has the artists set-up notes on the piece (in the columns and below drawing).  Sylvester the cat was created by Friz Freleng for the 1945 cartoon "Life With Feathers", in which a henpecked lovebird tries to commit suicide by having Sylvester eat him. Sylvester was designed to look like a clown, explaining the big red nose and low crotch, designed to look like a clown nose and baggy pants.  In 1947, Sylvester was paired with an infamous character created by Bob Clampett, named Tweety Bird. In the first pairing, a cartoon called "Tweetie Pie", once again directed by Freleng, Sylvester is a jealous housecat, trying to eat Tweety, a concept which would continue for countless cartoons. However, aside from the tweety series, Sylvester was one of the most versatile characters in Warner Bros. cartoons, starring in many other cartoons without Tweety.  While WB had had similar birds before, Clampett gave the bird a lisping baby voice, a head proportioned like a baby, and a temperament borrowed perhaps from the Red Skelton character of Junior, the Mean Widdle Kid. In his debut in "A Tale of Two Kitties" and in the follow-ups "Birdy and the Beast" and "A Gruesome Twosome," Tweety shows that he is no helpless little orphan, as he uses gasoline, hand grenades, dynamite and clubs to protect himself.  In the center of the carboard is Sylvester and Tweety standing next to each other.  Medium: Sericel cadrboard Publisher: Animated Animations Center Animators lines: 9 1/2" x 11" Sheet size: 15" x 20" Seal: Animated Animation hologram LTD Condition: Excellent Don't hesitate, this
