Huge 1933 Chicago Worlds Fair Century Art Poster

Lot # 15903 (Sale Order: 252 of 690)

This is an incredible find! A vintage reproduction of a poster intended to help raise money for the 1933 - 1934 Chicago Century of Progress World's Fair. As far as we know, this poster design was never used and has not been released to the public. The poster is titled "Chicago World's Fair Centennial Celebration - 1933." At the bottom it says — "Be an original signer." We believe signers were the people who donated money to help build the Fair itself. The poster measures approximately 21 × 29½. The colors are vivid and striking. The design is extremely appealing, depicting a crowd of fair-goers under an arch leading to an Oz-like city in the clouds - perhaps a reference to the first Chicago World's Fair in 1893 known as the "White City." There is no signature by an artist, only the initial "CM" in the lower right corner signed in the plate. The condition of this reproduction poster is mint. This is a great find for any Century of Progress, World's Fair or Chicago collector

AFTER THE BEGINNINGS Abstract Art Print Stan Solomon

Lot # 15922 (Sale Order: 271 of 690)

Well-known American Artist Stan Solomon is the creator of this super slick abstract print! Title: "After the Beginnings" 1990 Limited edition serigraph on paper Signed and numbered from a total limited edition of 455 30 × 35 inches Excellent condition; never mounted, matted or framed Certificate of Authenticity Retail gallery price USD 1200 We appreciated Stan Solomon's "Artist's Statement" and quote it here: "This is simple.... I don't have one. If there is anything to say about my work it has to be said by someone else. Julie, who has worked with me for over 25 years, says, 'Each piece is like a love letter from the 'Land of High Whimsy'.... whatever does she mean? I think that you can attach any meaning that you want to my work. It's up to you, the viewer. Mostly, I just have fun with the paint and attempt to put the imagery in my head on canvas. Why that imagery? Where does it come from? I don't know, it just appeals to me." A stand-out in any collection or décor!
