WWII Press Photo US Soldier, Rita Hayworth,Milton Berle

Lot # 10101 (Sale Order: 1 of 553)      

This original press photograph features a WW II soldier, and two Hollywood stars. It is credited to Columbia Pictures, and the back of the photo is stamped with the Columbia stamp. Pasted on the back is a description. It reads: "GOOD STEPPERS: Rita Hayworth, Columbia star, is pictured here as she gave a rhumba lesson to a soldier who won the chance to dance with the star during a recent army camp show. Milton Berle, right, looks on." The sheet size is 8 x 10, and the image size is about 3½" x 4½".
This photo is numbered #893, and is undated, although it is probably from around 1944. The condition of the photo is very good, with light creasing, wear, and edge curling. Note that most of this wear could be easily matted out.
This press photo is a terrific piece of WW II memorabilia, and with two Hollywood stars, it's a piece of Hollywood memorabilia too!

Original 1940s WWII US Press Photo Eisenhower NY Times

Lot # 10103 (Sale Order: 2 of 553)      

This is an original 6 x 8 press photograph from the New York Times. The back of the photo has the U.S. Official Photo stamp, with London bureau address. Pasted on the back is a description. It reads: "General Dwight D. Eisenhower, right, talks to Lt. Gen Omar N. Bradley near his car at Gen. Bradley's H.Q. in France."
This photo is marked for publication in the evening papers on Tuesday. No date or year are marked. The condition of the photo is very good, with normal light creases, marks, and edge curling.
This is a fine press photo of America's great WW II General at ease.

Original 1944 WWII 8 x 10 British Press Photo Airborne

Lot # 10105 (Sale Order: 3 of 553)      

This is an original 8 x 10 press photograph from Photographic News Agencies Ltd. of London.
The description reads: "Members of an airborne unit load a Jeep into the "Mouth" of a glider in preparation for the airborne invasion of Holland which was successfully launched from airports 'somewhere in England.'" Part of the last portion is crossed out with blue colored pencil. Is is marked: 82MD A/B, Cottesmore, Airdrome, England. It is stamped CONFIDENTIAL, and CUT ON FACE, along with signed stamp from the Field Press Censor, dated 18, September, 1944. The red marker on the license plate and squadron patch were probably marked thus to indicate that these were confidential, and not meant to be shown if published. The condition of the photo is very good, with normal light creases, marks, and edge curling.
This terrific image portrays the bold preparations for battle. Perfect for anyone interested in WW II fighting operations.

Original 1945 Press Photo Horse Racing Ban -Woodhouse

Lot # 10107 (Sale Order: 4 of 553)      

This is an original 5 x 7 inch press photograph portraying Canadian jockey Hedley Woodhouse. The photos is from the New York Bureau of Central Press, London , credited to Acme, and with stamps on back from Central Press, and British Combine Photos. There is a description pasted on back. It reads: "ARCADE, CALIF. -- LONG FACES ARE IN ORDER AS JOCKEY HEDLEY WOODHOUSE (RIGHT), BAG IN HAND BIDS FAREWELL TO ONE OF HIS FAVORITE MOUNTS THEY HOPE TO RIDE FOR THE DURATION OF THE U.S. RACING BAN." We're don't have any information on the racing ban, apparently it was making the news at the time. It is dated 1-21-45.
The condition of the photo is very good, with light wear, and edge curling.
This is a nice authentic press photo for any historian of horse racing.

Lot # 10109 (Sale Order: 5 of 553)      

This is an original 6 x 8 press photograph from Photographic News Agencies Ltd. of London. The back of the photo has the agency stamp. Pasted on the back is a description. It reads: "SISTER SHIP OF AMERICAN B-29 ESTABLISHES SPEED RECORD. The U.S. Army's C-97, transport counterpart of the B-29 superfortress bomber, is the largest and fastest U.S. Cargo-carrying plane..."
This is a British Combine Acme Photo, issued Jan. 1945, and slated for publication February 9th. The condition of the photo is very good, with normal light creases, marks, and edge curling.
The angle of the shot really shows off the impressive size of this huge U.S. cargo plane.

This is an original Associated Press photograph, about 3 x 3 1/8 inches, portraying 2 Naval men at the mess hall. The back has the AP stamp, and pasted on is a description. The description reads: RENDEZVOUS FOR YANKS, ASSOCIATED PRESS PHOTO SHOWS: SUCKING SUCCULENT MELON AT THE U.S. RED CROSS WASHINGTON CLUB IN LONDON "
The condition of the photo is very good, with light wear, edge curling, and spotting on back.
This is a nice WWII press photo, portraying one of those little moments off the battlefield.
