Group of 10 Fine Mini Hopi Kachinas by Gil Maldanado

Lot # 301 (Sale Order: 270 of 367)

For your bidding pleasure is a group of 10 fine mini Hopi Kachinas by Gil Maldanado. To achieve the fine detailing of his pieces, Maldonado used remarkably fine, sable-hair brushes, some with as few as three strands. Finding materials to adapt to miniaturized clothing was a constant challenge. This wonderful collection was assembled over a period of years and it was acquired from McGees in Scottsdale, AZ. After collecting approx. 310 of them (supposedly with no duplicates) the collectors were honored with having been told they had collected "an entire set" of miniature Hopi Kachinas by Gil Maldonado! Here we offer a group of 10 from that collection. MAKER: Gil Maldonado (1933; Hopi/Spanish). Active 1970s-2010. APPROX AGE: C. 1990s. SIZE: Various sizes, but to 2-1/8 inches tall. CONDITION: Pretty good for their age, normal wear expected. Please look closely at the pictures as they are an important part of our description and are hereby incorporated into the description, specifically with regards to condition. SHIPPING: There will be a $50 handling / packaging fee for shipping this lot. The actual cost of postage will be added on top of that. Please note that these are delicate and small pieces are likely to get damaged in transit. While we do our best to pack them securely, we will not be held responsible for damaged pieces. Just glue it back on and forget about it or come get them yourself. BUY IT NOW: If you would like to buy this item now, without waiting for the auction day to bid on it, we do offer this option (which is available up to 48 hours before the actual auction starts).
